This paper describes the design and implementation of a replicable, Internet-based negotiation server for conducting bargaining-type
negotiations between enterprises involved in e-commerce and e-business. Enterprises can be buyers and sellers of products/services
or participants of a complex supply chain engaged in purchasing, planning, and scheduling. Multiple copies of our server can
be installed to complement the services of Web servers. Each enterprise can install or select a trusted negotiation server
to represent his/her interests. Web-based GUI tools are used during the build-time registration process to specify the requirements,
constraints, and rules that represent negotiation policies and strategies, preference scoring of different data conditions,
and aggregation methods for deriving a global cost-benefit score for the item(s) under negotiation. The registration information
is used by the negotiation servers to automatically conduct bargaining type negotiations on behalf of their clients. In this
paper, we present the architecture of our implementation as well as a framework for automated negotiations, and describe a
number of communication primitives which are used in the underlying negotiation protocol. A constraint satisfaction processor
(CSP) is used to evaluate a negotiation proposal or counterproposal against the registered requirements and constraints of
a client company. In case of a constraint violation, an event is posted to trigger the execution of negotiation strategic
rules, which either automatically relax the violated constraint, ask for human intervention, invoke an application, or perform
other remedial operations. An Event-Trigger-Rule (ETR) server is used to manage events, triggers, and rules. Negotiation strategic
rules can be added or modified at run-time. A cost-benefit analysis component is used to perform quantitative analysis of
alternatives. The use of negotiation servers to conduct automated negotiation has been demonstrated in the context of an integrated
supply chain scenario.

In this study, a robust nonlinear L∞‐gain tracking control design for uncertain robotic systems is proposed under persistent bounded disturbances. The design objective is that the peak of the tracking error in time domain must be as small as possible under persistent bounded disturbances. Since the nonlinear L∞ ‐gain optimal tracking control cannot be solved directly, the nonlinear L∞ ‐gain optimal tracking problem is transformed into a nonlinear L∞ ‐gain tracking problem by given a prescribed disturbance attenuation level for the L∞ ‐gain tracking performance. To guarantee that the L∞ ‐gain tracking performance can be achieved for the uncertain robotic systems, a sliding‐mode scheme is introduced to eliminate the effect of the parameter uncertainties. By virtue of the skew‐symmetric property of the robotic systems, sufficient conditions are developed for solving the robust L∞ ‐gain tracking control problems in terms of an algebraic equation instead of a differential equation. The proposed method is simple and the algebraic equation can be solved analytically. Therefore, the proposed robust L∞ ‐gain tracking control scheme is suitable for practical control design of uncertain robotic systems. This paper presents an approach to automatic course generation and student modeling. The method has been developed during
the European funded projects Diogene and Intraserv, focused on the construction of an adaptive e-learning platform. The aim
of the platform is the automatic generation and personalization of courses, taking into account pedagogical knowledge on the
didactic domain as well as statistic information on both the student’s knowledge degree and learning preferences. Pedagogical
information is described by means of an innovative methodology suitable for effective and efficient course generation and
personalization. Moreover, statistic information can be collected and exploited by the system in order to better describe
the student’s preferences and learning performances. Learning material is chosen by the system matching the student’s learning
preferences with the learning material type, following a pedagogical approach suggested by Felder and Silverman. The paper
discusses how automatic learning material personalization makes it possible to facilitate distance learning access to both

The robust stability and stabilization, and H-infinity control problems for discrete-time Markovian jump singular systems with parameter uncertainties are discussed. Based on the restricted system equivalent (r.s.e.) transformation and by introducing new state vectors, the singular system is transformed into a discrete-time Markovian jump standard linear system, and the linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions for the discrete-time Markovian jump singular systems to be regular, causal, stochastically stable, and stochastically stable with 7- disturbance attenuation are obtained, respectively. With these conditions, the robust state feedback stochastic stabilization problem and H-infinity control problem are solved, and the LMI conditions are obtained. A study on combined manual materials-handling tasks performed on floors under three friction levels was conducted. Eight male subjects participated in the study. The maximum acceptable weight of handling, including lifting, carrying for 3m, lowering, and walking 3m back at twice per minute was determined. The subject then performed the same tasks for 10 min. Heart rate, Vo2, energy efficiency, perceived sense of slip, and rating of perceived exertion for whole body strain were measured. The results showed that the effects of friction level on the maximum acceptable weights of handling, perceived sense of slip, Vo2, and energy efficiency were statistically significant (p相似文献

We present a novel mobile code management environment,currently under design and development. Our design employs anopen architecture, suitable for ``plug-and-play' with COTS andother groups' tools. While we have studied new algorithms, costand objective functions, and other fundamental issues, the maincontribution of this experimental research work is in the environmentitself. It should be noted that networked platforms, such asthe World Wide Web, are inherently not suitable for traditional,predictable real-time applications. Thus, real-time concernsnecessarily need to be blended with others concerns, and thetarget applications, making use of our environment, will toobe a blend of partially hard real-time and partially (or mostly)soft-real- time ones. The prototype environment will thereforesupport performance-based analysis and management focusing notonly on predictability but also on compilation, efficiency, safetyand other tradeoffs.
