Global hydrodynamic characteristics, liquid mixing and gas‐liquid mass transfer for a 63 L split‐rectangular airlift reactor were studied. Correlations for gas holdup and overall liquid circulation velocity were derived for the air‐water system as a function of the specific power input; these were compared to data and correlations for reactor volumes between 4.7 L and 4600 L. A partial recirculation of small bubbles in the riser was observed when Ugr > 0.03 m/s, which was attributed to the use of a single‐orifice nozzle as the gas phase distributor. The dimensionless mixing time and the overall axial dispersion coefficient were nearly constant for the range of gas flow rates studied. However, values of KL/dB were greater than those reported in previous studies and this is caused by the partial recirculation of the gas phase in the riser. While scale effects remain slight, the use of a gas distributor favouring this partial recirculation seems adequate for mass transfer in split‐rectangular airlift reactors. 相似文献

The sorption equilibrium of dissolved copper by spherical partially-coagulated gels of calcium alginate was investigated in this work. The gels were formed by dispensing a viscous algin (food grade sodium alginate from kelp) solution with a multi-tip dispenser into 0.05 M CaCl2 solution in a loop fluidized bed reactor. The resultant semi-rigid spherical gels were then transferred to another reactor operated batch wise to absorb dissolved copper at low concentrations (10-40 ppm). When the concentration of the inert neutral salt NaNO3, added to the reactor fluid was 0.01 M, the amount of copper absorbed was found to be substantially higher than that at 0.1 MNaN03. The conventional Langmuir's model based on the concentration of copper in solution yielded different values of conditional stability constant at different ionic strengths in the reactor fluid. However, by defining the copper-binding stability constant on the basis of copper activity in the gel phase with the competition from calcium for metal binding sites taken into account, a unique copper-binding stability constant and a unique calcium-binding stability constant were obtained. A study was made of the influence of process parameters on the mass-transfer coefficient in a flow-through cell with a cascade of rotating drums partially filled with conductive particles (called the vertically moving particle bed). Copper deposition from an acidic sodium sulphate solution was used as the model reaction. To evaluate the experimental data a macrohomogeneous mathematical model of potential and current density distribution inside the cell was developed. The electrolyte flow distribution between the empty space above the particle bed and through the bed was evaluated. On the basis of these results the following correlation is proposed:

Blends of isotactic polypropylene (PP), ethylene‐propylene rubber copolymer (EPR), and ethylene‐propylene crystalline copolymer (EPC) can be produced through in situ polymerization processes directly in the reactor and blends with different structure and composition can be obtained. In this work we studied the structure of five reactor‐made blends of PP, EPR, and EPC produced by a Ziegler‐Natta catalyst system. The composition of EPR was related to the ratio between ethylene and propylene used in the copolymerization step. The ethylene content in the EPR was in the range of 50–70 mol %. The crystallization behavior of PP and EPC in the blends was influenced by the presence of the rubber, and some specific interactions between the components could be established. By preparative temperature rising elution fractionation (P‐TREF) analysis, the isolation and characterization of crystalline EPC fractions were made. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In the first part of this work, the electrical conductivity of vanadium phosphorous oxide (VPO) catalyst was investigated
by means of the 2-probe EIS method. The VPO showed an extremely low conductivity at low oxygen partial pressure, which is
the prevailing condition in the anodic compartment in an electrochemical membrane reactor (EMR). In the second part of this
study, fresh as well as VPO catalyst already used in an EMR were characterised with XRD, XPS and temperature programmed oxidation
(TPO). The XRD measurements revealed an unchanged bulk phase structure after operation in the EMR. Significant differences
in the average oxidation states of vanadium in the catalyst layer in the EMR were determined via XPS, where the catalyst surface
facing the electrolyte membrane was more oxidised than the surface facing the anodic gas compartment. The lowered uptake and
