Mapping the Characteristics of a 'Good' Play Therapist.

In this pilot study, concept mapping, a methodological approach combining qualitative and quantitative analytic strategies, was used to identify the therapist qualities, competencies, and skills necessary for effective play therapy outcomes as perceived by a sub-sample of 28 experienced play therapists who are members of the Association for Play Therapy (APT). The clusters associated with the therapeutic relationship and facilitative skills (e.g., empathy, warmth, and genuineness) were rated as the most essential skills to possess and also as the most difficult to develop. In contrast, the clusters associated with play therapy interventions and theories were rated as the least important skills to possess but as the easiest to acquire. LOW-CYCLE FATIGUE UNDER NON-PROPORTIONAL LOADING

A series of strain-controlled, low-cycle fatigue experiments have been conducted on 42CrMo steel under various loading paths including circular, square, cruciform, and rectangular paths. Present experiments have shown that there is additional hardening under non-proportional cyclic loading. Non-proportional cyclic additional hardening also results in a shorter life for multiaxial low cycle fatigue. A non-proportionality measure of strain path based on both a physical basis and macromechanical phenomena is proposed. The loading path effect on additional hardening is also described well. Low-cycle fatigue damage accumulation and the evolution process under non-proportional loading is analysed via the Continuum Damage Mechanics Model of Chaboche. A non-proportinality measure is introduced in the damage evolution equation and a modified Coffin-Manson type formula is derived. A novel fatigue life prediction approach based on the critical-plane concept of Brown and Miller is proposed.     

Familiarity and plausibility in conceptual combination: Reply to Gagné and Spalding (2006).

E. J. Wisniewski and G. L. Murphy (see record 2004-22496-015) suggested that the apparent effects of relation frequency in C. L. Gagné and E. J. Shoben's (1997; see record 1997-02349-004) conceptual combination experiments could be explained by differences between the familiarity and plausibility of their stimuli (noun-noun phrases). However, C. L. Gagné and T. L. Spalding (see record 2006-20573-017) argued that Wisniewski and Murphy's measures of plausibility and frequency are both sensitive to relation frequency. They also suggested that the stimuli were mostly novel, such that differences in familiarity could not explain Gagné and Shoben's findings. The current authors focus on the theoretical rationale for the plausibility and familiarity variables, arguing that the original interpretation of their findings is correct. 膨胀弯管在管道柔性设计中的定性分析

为防止管道因热胀冷缩、管道支撑或端点附加位移造成的应力问题,对管线中设置的膨胀弯管进行定性分析.通过2个参数的变化对膨胀弯管进行编号得到多种设计方案,用ANSYS建立管道的有限元模型,并分析各方案中膨胀管道的变形、应力和弯矩等;根据分析结果对膨胀弯管设计半径、设置位置和形状进行定性分析.该定性分析结果可为膨胀弯管概念设计和管道柔性设计提供参考.     

Evaluation of contrast metrics for liquid‐crystal displays under different viewing conditions

Abstract— A psychophysical experiment was carried out to assess the perceptual contrast on a large‐sized liquid‐crystal display (LCD) under nine phases of viewing conditions. Based on the results, six contrast models employing different color attributes or the index of just‐noticeable difference (JND) were developed. Their performances were also tested by the visual data of the nine phases, which indicated that the model C_Q employing CIECAM02 brightness gives the best performance in predicting visual data under different viewing conditions among those models. A preprocessing step was also proposed to utilize the contrast model C_Q conveniently in the practical contrast evaluation of LCDs.     

Comments on Debra Hull's concept of rationality.

D. B. Hull (1988) misinterprets "rationality" as used in rational-emotive therapy (RET) in her critique of the present author's (1987) article.
