Preliminary mathematical analyses of different interdendritic cracks associated with variation of heat transfer and generation of interdendritic strain in horizontal twin-roll strip casting have been investigated. A 1-D transient finite difference model of heat flow, dendritic solidification and interdendritic thermo-metallurgical strain has been developed. The model contains two cracking criteria to predict qualitatively and quantitatively the tendency of interdendritic crack formation during dendritic solidification of pure aluminium and 6022 aluminium alloy. The model predictions are compared to available analytical methods and previous measurements. This is to verify and calibrate the model where good and reasonable agreements are obtained, respectively. The variations of heat transfer modes during different contact cooling zones and their effects on the generation of interdendritic thermo-metallurgical strain at the surface and central strip locations have been analysed. The model predictions point out that the different contact cooling zones of strip surface and surroundings control the stages of interdendritic crack formation in different mushy regions. The mechanism of interdendritic crack formation in twin-roll strip casting process with previous and present cracking criteria have been explained and discussed. These discussions show the importance of selection of mathematical treatment to predict the stages of interdendritic crack formation.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with tensile characteristics of auto grade low carbon, ultra low carbon and micro alloyed steel sheets under low to intermediate strain rates ranging from 0.0007 to 250 s−1. Experimental investigation reveals two important aspects of these steels under intermediate strain rate deformation. Firstly, the yield stress increases with strain rate in all these steels. Of course yield stress increment is higher for low carbon and ultra low carbon steel sheets. Secondly, the strain hardening rate drastically decreases with strain rate for low carbon and ultra low carbon steel sheets, whereas it remains steady for micro alloyed steel sheets. Based on these observations, a constitutive model has been proposed which predicts the strain rate sensitive flow behavior of all these grades within the strain rate range of automotive crash event.  相似文献

This paper is a review of different methods used to reduce the effect of strain gradients in experimental models with 3D embedded strain gauged transducers. A detailed analysis of various methods used in relation to research carried out on a prosthetic hip implant is investigated. The methods to reduce these gradient effects detail the importance of the selection of the most suitable 3D transducer pattern and establishing the locations on the model where strain gradients are least problematic. It is also shown that the use of large‐scale models helps minimise the effect a gradient may have on data. Another way of avoiding strain gradients is to use axisymmetric models and embed the gauges at the same radius in the model but at a different angular orientation from the central axis. The strain gradient across the 3D embedded strain gauge transducer can be reduced using the methods described here so that significant errors in the final tensor do not materialise.  相似文献

Welding-induced distortion not only reduces largely manufacturing accuracy but also decreases significantly productivity due to correction works. If welding distortion can be predicted through a simple and practical method beforehand, the predictions will be helpful for taking active as well as appropriate measures to control the dimension accuracy. Based on inherent strain theory and interface element formulation, we developed a practical prediction system to compute the accumulated distortion during the welding assembly process in the current study. Using the developed prediction method, we calculated the welding distortion in a thin plate structure with considering both the shrinkage due to heat input and the gap/misalignment generated during assembly process. Meanwhile, we investigated the influences of assembly sequence and gap correction on the final distortion.  相似文献

This research aims to investigate the underlying process-based causes of e-government failure. Through the lens of actor-network theory, this paper presents a process-oriented study of the failure of Thailand’s Smart ID Card project. Adding to the extant knowledge on e-government failures that attributes this phenomenon to internal and external factors, this paper argues that the reason the project failed was a cumulative process of failure to create and maintain the actor-network. Policy implications for developing countries to efficiently manage their e-government initiatives are given, such as adopting an open principle in setting e-government project objectives and initiating the actor-network; implementing the e-government target in stages based on prepared environment; allowing an e-government system to evolve according to the degree of readiness in the information and communications technology (ICT) system design, implementation and local adoption; and including large, nationwide projects as part of a national informatization strategy.  相似文献

This study examined several accidents over the last 56 years in the offshore drilling of petroleum. The aim is to examine the situation in relation to jack-ups, drill ships, semi-submersible and platforms and have a better awareness and understanding which may reduce the number of accidents. The materials examined were available published reports and data on exploration and production activities. From 219 accidents recorded the highest was due to blowouts with 46.1%, followed by storms and hurricanes with 15.1% and structural failures with 11.4%. High fatalities occurred at the Funiwa 5 platform in Nigeria with 230, the Piper Alpha platform in the North Sea with 167 and the Keilland semi-submersible in Norway. Other high fatalities were recorded at the Ocean Ranger fire and sinking, Java Sea sinking, Bohai 2 and Bohai 3 fire and sinking. Worker training and discipline must be maintained at a high level. The facilities must be kept sea-worthy and reliable through regular maintenance.  相似文献

In this study, static strain ageing behavior of commercially available and solution heat treated duplex stainless steel was investigated and the effect of static strain ageing on the mechanical properties was also determined in detail. Some of as-received duplex stainless steel test specimens were pre-strained in tension by 5% and then aged at 100 °C, 200 °C, 300 °C, 400 °C, 500 °C and 600 °C for 30 min in furnace. Some of duplex stainless steel test specimens were solution heat treated at 1050 °C for 30 min, water quenched and then pre-strained for 5% in tension shortly after the solution heat treatment.In order to identify the effect of static strain ageing on the mechanical properties, the tensile strength, the change in the strength due to ageing (ΔY), elongation fracture and hardness were determined. The test results showed that the mechanical properties were affected by static strain ageing mechanism which was applied at different temperatures for same time interval.  相似文献

Hydride precipitation along the radial-axial plane increases in high burn-up boiling water reactor (BWR) fuel claddings. The radially-oriented hydrides may have an important role during fuel behavior in a reactivity-initiated accident and may reduce ductility of the cladding under pellet-cladding mechanical interaction (PCMI) conditions. In order to promote a better understanding of the influence of the radial hydrides on cladding failure behavior under the PCMI conditions, tube burst tests were conducted for unirradiated BWR claddings charged with 200 to 650 ppm of hydrogen. About 20 to 30% of hydrides were re-oriented and precipitated along the radial-axial plane. The claddings exhibited large rupture openings with an axial crack at room temperature and 373 K. The crack penetrated through cladding wall preferentially along the radial hydrides, and radial cross section showed cladding failure in a brittle manner. However, reduction in residual hoop strain by precipitation of the radial hydrides was very small. It is accordingly expected that ductility of high burn-up BWR cladding is significantly reduced not only by precipitation of radial hydrides as far as hydrogen concentration and radial hydride fraction range in the present study.  相似文献
