The flame spraying process, which is a common industrial thermal spraying application, has been analyzed by means of three-dimensional
computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. The process used at the Volvo Aero Corporation for the coating of fan and
compressor housings has been modeled. The process uses the Metco 6P torch (Metco, Westbury, NY), which ejects a mixture of
acetylene and oxygen at high speed through a ring of 16 orifices to form the flame. A stream of argon gas flowing through
an orifice in the center of the ring carries a powder of nickel-covered bentonite through the flame to the spray substrate.
The torch is cooled by a flow of air through an outer ring of 9 orifices. The simulation emulated reality closely by including
the individual inlets for fuel, cooling air, and injected particles. The gas combustion was simulated as a turbulent, multicomponent
chemically reacting flow. The standard, two-equation k-ε turbulence model was used. The chemical reaction rates appeared as
source terms in the species transport equations. They were computed from the contributions of the Arrhenius rate expressions
and the Magnussen and Hjertager eddy dissipation model. The first simulations included several intermediate chemical substances
whose predicted concentration agreed favorably with measurements. Later, more simplified simulations incorporated only the
global chemical reaction involving the initial and the final products, with corrections to the thermal properties being made
to account for the missing intermediaries. The gas velocity and temperature fields predicted by the later simulations compared
satisfactorily to those predicted by the earlier, more elaborate, ones. Therefore, the final simulations, which incorporated
injected particles, were conducted employing the simplified model with only the global reaction. An in-house finite difference
code was developed to calculate particle properties. Allowance was made for elliptical shapes, phase changes, and internal
heat transfer with regard to the composite material. The particle velocities and temperatures predicted by the final simulations
compared fairly well with experimental results obtained with the optical DPV2000 system. 相似文献

In this essay, we studied how heat input affected the microstructure, hardness, grain size and heat-affected zone (HAZ) dimension of WCX355 ultra-fine grain steel which was welded respectively by the ultra narrow-gap welding (UNGW) process and the overlaying process with CO2 as protective atmosphere and laser welding process. The experimental results show when the heat input changed from 1.65 kJ/cm to 5.93 kJ/cm, the width of its HAZ ranged from O. 6 mm to 2. 1 ram. The average grain size grew up from 2 ~ 5 pln of base metal to 20~70 um and found no obvious soften phenomenon in overheatedzone. The width of normalized zone was generally wide as 2/3 as that of the whole HAZ, and the grain size in this zone is smaller than that in base metal. Under the circumstance of equal heat input, the HAZ width of UNGW is narrower than that of the laser welding. 相似文献

Five new heat treatment processes were designed, which were divided into three groups by their characteristics. The microstructures and mechanical properties of the alloy after the five heat treatments and thermal exposure at 500, 550℃ for 100 h were tested. The results indicate that a little differences exist in the performance of mechanical properties at room-temperature after the five heat treatments, and the thermal stability is the key factor for determining heat treatment process. Among the three groups of heat treatment processes, the best thermal stability is achieved after the first group of heat treatment. After annealing treatment at intermediate temperature, some defects and uneven grain boundaries are remained, which leads to the reduction fractions of precipitations on unit grain boundary and the harmful effect of precipitations on grain boundary is weakened. The process of annealing at 650 ℃for 4 h is recommended the best heat treatment process for Ti40 alloy. 相似文献

A mathematical model has been built to numerically predict the thermal history of thin slab during CSP (compact strip process) rolling. To estimate the temperature distribution in the slab mare accurately, the mathematical model combines heat transfer in the slab, in the roll, and at the roll-slab interface during bite. The numerical results agree with on-site running data, which proves the reliabili~, of the mathematical model.
