Thermo-mechanical pulp (TMP) fibres made from beech wood were produced using increasing refiner gap widths and thus with increasing fibre length and coarseness. Fibres (60% by weight) were compounded in an internal kneading mixer using high-density polyethylene as the matrix and injection-moulded. Fibre lengths and length/width ratios were determined (a) before processing and (b) after injection-moulding and Soxhlet extraction using the optical FibreShape system. An increase in fibre length resulted in a decrease in water absorption and an improvement in flexural strength and modulus of elasticity of the wood–plastic composites (WPC). However, flexural strength of the WPC with TMP fibres was not improved compared to WPC with wood flour when maleic anhydride-grafted polyethylene (MAPE) was used as a coupling agent. After injection-moulding, differences in length of the various TMP fibre types were minor. Fibre geometry before processing strongly influences the water absorption and flexural properties of the composite. Fibre treatment with emulsified methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (EMDI) resin before compounding was shown to be equally efficient in reducing water absorption and improving flexural strength as the addition of MAPE during the compounding step.  相似文献

With the wide application of module-shipbuilding technology, problems related to block spatial scheduling occur in various working areas, and this restricts the productivity of shipbuilding. To address the problems and to obtain the optimum block sequence and spatial layout, typical block features and work plates were investigated. A heuristic spatial scheduling model was established based on the investigation and proposed strategies with the objective to minimise makespan. With the heuristic algorithm, a block spatial scheduling system was developed and implemented with real data from a large ship. Through the spatial scheduling system, visual results of daily block layouts and progress charts for all blocks can be easily obtained and work orders can also be created for site workers. Several other spatial scheduling methods are described and compared with the above-mentioned heuristic algorithm. The result shows that the heuristic algorithm is better than Cplex and a genetic algorithm in solving large-scale block scheduling, and the heuristic algorithm is better than a grid algorithm and manual scheduling in all aspects such as makespan, utilisation of work plates, runtime of scheduling and on-time delivery. The developed block spatial scheduling system is applied in a block production shop of a modern shipyard and shows good performance.  相似文献

XNiH3 (X = Li, Na, and K) perovskite type hydrides have been studied by using Density Functional Theory (DFT) and these materials are found to be stable and synthesizable. The X-ray diffraction patterns have been obtained and they indicate that all materials have the polycrystalline structure. The electronic properties have been investigated and it has been found that these structures show metallic character. The Bader partial charge analysis has also been performed. In addition, the elastic constants have been calculated and these materials are found to be mechanically stable. Using these elastic constants, the mechanical properties such as bulk modulus, shear modulus, Poisson's ratio have been obtained. Moreover, the Debye temperatures and thermal conductivities have been studied. The anisotropic elastic properties have been visualized in three dimensions (3D) for Young's modulus, linear compressibility, shear modulus and Poisson's ratio as well as with the calculation of the anisotropic factors. Additionally, the dynamical stability has been investigated and obtained phonon dispersion curves show that these materials are dynamically stable. Also, the thermal properties including free energy, enthalpy, entropy and heat capacity have been studied. The hydrogen storage properties have been examined and the gravimetric hydrogen storage capacities have been calculated as 4.40 wt%, 3.57 wt% and 3.30 wt% for LiNiH3, NaNiH3 and KNiH3, respectively. Furthermore, the hydrogen desorption temperatures have been obtained as 446.3 K, 419.5 K and 367.5 K for LiNiH3, NaNiH3 and KNiH3, respectively.  相似文献

To explore their possible application as solid electrolytes in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC), this contribution presents the synthesis, characterization and electrical properties of Ln4Zr3O12 (Ln = Y, Ho, Er and Yb) zirconates. All samples were obtained by mechanical milling and their electrical properties were analyzed as a function of frequency and temperature, by using impedance spectroscopy. Our results show that defective fluorite-type zirconates might be successfully obtained after milling stoichiometric mixtures of the corresponding oxides, for 30–40 h in a planetary mill. Such structural form persists even after firing the as-prepared Y, Ho and Er zirconates, at very high temperatures (1500 °C); whereas, Yb4Zr3O12 shows a transition to a rhombohedral δ-phase on firing. Ionic conductivity (σ) values obtained for all compositions at 700 °C (including fluorites and δ-phase), are comparable to those reported for similar ionic conductors, and within the 10−3.82 to 10−6.13 S cm−1 range. Higher σ values were obtained for those zirconates preserving the disordered fluorite-type structure after firing.  相似文献

Repair of composite structures and the impact of demanding environmental conditions is a crucial issue for the aircraft industry because of the increasing use of composites in modern aircraft. Consequently, the impact of environmental conditions common for aircraft applications on repair specimens in comparison to nonrepaired specimens is studied. All specimens are produced from a woven carbon fiber-reinforced epoxy-based prepreg. For the repair-specimens, an epoxy-based film adhesive is used for the soft patch repair approach. During the repair process, the surface of the precured prepreg is prepared by a mechanical method (sanding) and an additional chemical functionalization, respectively. Moisture absorption of the repair specimens is independent of the surface preparation method and higher for the repaired than for the nonrepaired specimens. The key influencing environmental conditions for the tensile strength and the failure mode of the repair specimens are elevated temperature testing as well as hot/wet conditioning and conditioning in deionized water. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The modular satellite concept iBOSS (intelligent Building Blocks for On-Orbit Satellite Servicing and Assembly) enables on-orbit servicing and reconfiguration of satellite systems and has the potential to be a game changer in the space industry. Such building blocks have to withstand all environmental loads in space, e.g.: radiation, vacuum and thermal cycling.The present paper investigates the mechanical properties of the two component epoxy adhesive 3M SW9323 under the environmental effect of radiation. This adhesive is part of the building block's primary structure. Furthermore, adhesive bonding is the sole joining technique used in the whole structure. It is therefore critical to know the influence of ionizing radiation on its load-carrying capacity. For this purpose bulk specimens were manufactured and exposed to γ-radiation, generated by a 60Co source. Four different doses were achieved by varying the distance to the source and irradiation time. Afterwards the specimen were tested under tensile loading. Using the digital image correlation technique properties like elastic modulus, shear modulus, tensile strength and elongation at break were determined.The results show that the mechanical properties of the bulk specimen of 3M SW9323 are not influenced by γ-radiation up to a dose of 17.6 kGy. This is explained by the phenomena of crosslinking and chain scission which occur simultaneously and cancel each other out. In addition, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was carried out to investigate if one mechanism is predominant. A slight shift in the spectra indicates the supremacy of chain scission.  相似文献

We have studied the efficiencies of commercially available barrier resins used for food packaging and beverage bottle applications and compared them with resins made using copolymer and blending approaches. The effects of various copolymer related parameters that influence oxygen barrier performance and the underlying mechanisms for these effects in PET‐based copolymers and blends were investigated. Using these approaches, it is possible to make highly effective PET‐based copolymers for gas barrier applications. Blending of PET with phenolic and other organic materials shows equivalent barrier performance in PET copolymers having comonomer levels of <8‐mole %. Reduction in oxygen permeation rates results from the reduction or elimination of short range molecular motion of polyethylene terephthalate molecules. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A comprehensive study including laboratory tests and numerical modeling was performed to investigate factors of rock bolt fracture. Experimental tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical performances of bolt ends including the thread and adjacent. The effects of installation angle, pretension and accessories (plate, washer and nut) were evaluated. It is found that a bolt installed with an oblique angle to roadway surface suffers a complex stress combination of tensioning, bending and twisting on the bolt. This complex stress is much greater than the tensile stress, leading to cracking and growth at the location of bending causing the thread to fail even though the tensile stress is less than the yield strength. Bolt thread is more vulnerable to fracture than rebar.  相似文献
