中国测井装备研制及有关发展思路的建议

中国的测井装备研究取得了较大进展，将在近期推出成像测井系统和高可行测井系统。中国专有的聚焦型激发极化电位测民在积极研制之中。提出了对几项准备研制工作的方法，并对21世纪初中国测井装备的发展思路提出了建议，提出应将测井装备研制列为当前测井研究的中心任务，应加强测井装备研制的系统性和开放性。

Mapping surface temperature in large lakes with MODIS data

Satellite sensor MODIS on two platforms can produce Sea Surface Temperature over certain regions about three to four times per day. Our objective was to test if the MODIS SST product can be applied for lakes whose surface areas are large enough to be observed at the MODIS spatial resolution and to compare the satellite-derived lake surface temperatures with in situ measurements. Surface temperatures for Lakes Vänern and Vättern in Sweden, two of the largest European lakes, are extracted from the MODIS/Terra images for period 2001-2003. The results are analyzed on different quality levels, as all MODIS L2 products are equipped with an additional quality flag. We present temperature development over 2001-2003, and show the capability of the MODIS SST product to couple the known thermodynamical features in the lakes under study, where temperature varies greatly with space and time. These results can complement lake monitoring programs anywhere.     

Assessing pre- and post-deformation in the southern Arava Valley segment of the Dead Sea Transform, Israel by differential interferometry

Differential radar interferometry, using archived ERS data over the region of the Dead Sea Transform, allows to detect ground movement (subsidence or uplift) in playas within the southern Arava Valley segment of the Dead Sea Rift. These measurements are consistent with a mean displacement rate of about 0.4 cm/month, in the direction of the radar beam, during the 8-month period preceding the Nuweiba earthquake of 22 November 1995. In the 3 years following the earthquake, the measured rate was smaller by a factor of 10. These movements are not related to salt diapirs or water pumping activities in the area. The exact location, along faults, suggests a possible correlation with pre-seismic and post-seismic fault deformation.A simple fault model consistent with the observed phenomena associates the observed subsidence/uplift to right and left stepping en-echelon fault patterns related to inter-seismic tensional accumulation along the faults. Further observations are necessary on this site and similar fault areas to corroborate the correlation between seismic activity and the observed phenomena. Monitoring of these sites should continue with differential Global positioning system (GPS) measurements and radar interferometric analysis using Envisat and Radarsat as well as archived data (including J-ERS).     

Determination of the content of wax esters in some sea foods and their molecular composition. A comparison with ω-3 enriched wax esters

Wax esters enriched in ω-3 fatty acids have been recently shown to be readily absorbed by rats after dietary supplementation. Wax esters are less prone to oxidation and can be better formulated than liquid ω-3 derivatives. All these characteristics suggest a possible use of wax esters enriched in ω-3 as food supplements. However, some naturally occurring wax esters are defined as scarcely digestible (jojoba oil, spermaceti). On the other hand, wax esters have been found in several sources of marine origin, which can enter normal foodstuff. In order to better understand the digestibility of wax esters, we have analysed some foods from marine sources. The content of triglycerides and wax esters of the foods has been determined. Moreover, wax esters have been analysed for their composition in alcohols and fatty acids. Wax esters have been shown to be a part of the neutral lipid extract of the foods analysed. Their content, if compared with the content in triglycerides, shows striking differences. In the case of two botargo preparations, it has been shown that wax esters are more than 90% of the total neutral lipid extract. The content of fatty acids and alcohols found in the foods analysed is consistent with published data.

North sea oil: Responses to employment opportunities

Britain's new offshore oil industry might have generated much additional employment especially in the building, manning and supply of rigs. But there was a failure at first to take proper advantage; little was done to train people in new skills. Consequently the oil companies brought in equipment and skilled personnel from abroad. Eventually efforts were made to improve matters and the paper examines the steps taken to bring more of the employment benefits to Britain, but finds only partial success.     

The geographies of a more just food system: Building landscapes for social reproduction

Within the lifetime of a generation of people now involved in work in the cattle and beef industry in South Dakota, the landscapes of social reproduction that support and give shape to life for people there have been rearranged. Many of the social and physical relationships that developed to support smaller-scale, diverse farms and their surrounding communities are being made redundant by a new system of beef production and retailing. The costs of these redundancies are felt in dwindling small towns and an ever sparser rural population. Considering these changes as parts of landscapes of social reproduction is a means to connect the political and corporate logic driving our food systems to the spatial production of difference in the conditions for livelihood, as well as the spatial production of livelihood itself for both producers and consumers. Such an analysis is necessary in order to address the injustices inherent within our current food system.

南非的社会发展经历了殖民主义统治时期，种族主义统治时期和民主政府统治时期3个历史阶段。社会体制的变化深深影响了南非建筑的发展。尤其体现在政府办公建筑的形式上，本文按照历史发展的顺序，通过列举实例的方式，分别对这3个时期政府办公建筑的风格与布局牲进行了的探讨。
