Kenaf powder (KP) was incorporated into recycled high density polyethylene (rHDPE)/natural rubber (NR) blend using an internal mixer at 165°C and rotor speed of 50 rpm. The tensile strength and elongation at break of the composites decreased, while the tensile modulus increased with increasing filler loading. The water absorption was found to increase as the filler content increased. The maleic anhydride grafted natural rubber was prepared and used to enhance the composites performance. The addition of MANR as a coupling agent improved the tensile properties of rHDPE/NR/KP biocomposites. The water absorption was also reduced with the addition of MANR.  相似文献

Small‐angle neutron scattering (SANS) data for n‐octane solutions of TBP loaded with progressively larger amounts of HNO3, HClO4, H2SO4, and H3PO4 up to and beyond the LOC (limiting organic concentration of acid) condition, were interpreted using the Baxter model for hard spheres with surface adhesion. The coherent picture of the behavior of the TBP solutions derived from the SANS investigation discussed in this paper confirmed our recently developed model for third phase formation. This model analyses the features of the scattering data in the low Q region as arising from van der Waals interactions between the polar cores of reverse micelles. Our SANS data indicated that the TBP micelles swell when acid and water are extracted into their polar core. The swollen micelles have critical diameters ranging from 15 to 22 Å, and polar core diameters between 10 and 15 Å, depending on the specific system. At the respective LOC conditions, the TBP weight‐average aggregation numbers are ~4 for HClO4, ~6 for H2SO4, ~7 for HCl, and ~10 for H3PO4. The comparison between the behavior of HNO3, a non‐third phase forming acid, and the other acids provided an explanation of the effect of the water molecules present in the polar core of the micelles on third phase formation. The thickness of the lipophilic shell of the micelles indicated that the butyl groups of TBP lie at an angle of ~25 degrees relative to a plane tangent to the micellar core. The critical energy of intermicellar attraction, U(r), was about ?2 kBT for all the acids investigated. This value is the same as that reported in our previous publications on the extraction of metal nitrates by TBP, confirming that the same mechanism and energetics are operative in the formation of a third phase, independent of whether the chemical species extracted are metal nitrate salts or inorganic acids.  相似文献

New natural rubber (NR)/nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR)/hindered phenol (AO-80) composites with high-damping properties were prepared in this study. The morphological, structural, and mechanical properties were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), polarized Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer (DMTA), and a tensile tester. Each composite consisted of two phases: the NR phase and the NBR/AO-80 phase. There was partial compatibility between the NR phase and the NBR/AO-80 phase, and the NR/NBR/AO-80 (50/50/20) composite exhibited a co-continuous morphology. Strain-induced crystallization occurred in the NR phase at strains higher than 200%, and strain-induced orientation appeared in the NBR/AO-80 phase with the increase of strain from 100% to 500%. The composites had a special stress–strain behavior and mechanical properties because of the simultaneous strain-induced orientation and strain-induced crystallization. In the working temperature range of a seismic isolation bearing, the composites (especially the NR/NBR/AO-80 (50/50/20) composite) presented a high loss factor, high area of loss peak (TA), and high hysteresis energy. Therefore, the NR/NBR/AO-80 rubber composites are expected to have important application as a high-performance damping material for rubber bearing.  相似文献

The effects of a diamine salt of fatty acid of general structure [RNH2 +[CH2)3NH+] [R′COO?]2 referred to as a multifunctional additive (MFA) on curing characteristics and mechanical properties and swelling behavior of natural rubber (SMR L) and polychloroprene (CR) rubber blends were studied. Compared to SMR L/CR blends without MFA, the incorporation of 2 phr (parts per hundred parts of rubber) of MFA in the blends increased mechanical properties, i.e., tensile strength, tensile modulus and hardness, and improved swelling resistance toward toluene and ASTM oil No. 1. However the scorch time, t 5 and cure index, Δt L decrease with incorporation of MFA into the blends.  相似文献

The dynamic properties, curing characteristics, and swelling behavior of the blends cured using two types of vulcanization systems [i.e., conventional vulcanization (CV) and semiefficient vulcanization (semi-EV)] were investigated. Results indicate that the maximum elastic torque (S′ @MH) and the torque difference, S′ @MH–S′ @ML (maximum elastic torque minus minimum elastic torque) increased with the increasing epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) composition in the blend. However, a reverse trend was observed for tan δ @MH and viscous torque (S″ @MH). At a similar blend ratio, the CV system gives a higher S′ @MH and torque difference but a lower tan δ @MH and S″ @MH than the semi-EV system. The scorch time, t 2 and cure time, t 90, decreased with increasing ENR composition in the blends. Semi-EV system blends exhibit shorter t 2 and t 90 than CV system blends. The swelling degree decreased with increasing ENR composition in the blends and the CV system blends show better oil-swelling resistance.  相似文献

Thermoplastic elastomers have been prepared by blending polypropylene (PP), natural rubber (NR), and recycle rubber powder (RRP). The blends were melt-mixed using a Brabender Plasticorder torque rheometer at 190°C and 50 rpm. A fixed 70:30 blend ratio (wt%) of PP and rubber was prepared. The effect of partial replacement of NR with RRP at a fixed rubber content (NR+RRP), 30 wt% on mechanical properties, swelling behavior, torque development, and morphological properties of PP/NR/RRP blends was studied. Results show that the tensile strength, Young's modulus, and swelling resistance increase with increasing RRP content in the PP/NR/RRP blends whereas the stabilization torque and elongation at break exhibit opposite trend.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Cure characteristics and mechanical properties of the short nylon fiber reinforced neoprene rubber with and without epoxy bonding agent at various fiber loadings were studied. The fiber loading was varied from 0 to 30 phr and the resin content was in the range 0 to 5 phr. Minimum torque and cure time were increased in the presence of resin. Mechanical properties like tensile strength and abrasion resistance showed an increase with resin concentration. It was found that epoxy based bonding agents enhanced the properties of short nylon fiber reinforced neoprene rubber.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this study, the effect of various nano-particle type and concentration on the structure, curing, viscosity variation during vulcanisation, and mechanical characteristics of ethylene–propylene–diene monomer (EPDM) rubber foam is reported. Three types of nanoparticle with various dimensional aspects (1D carbon nanotubes, 2D nano clay, and 3D nano silica) are employed to investigate their effect on the fabrication of EPDM rubber foam. It is observed that the properties of the foams were efficiently influenced by the nano-particle shapes and content in the matrix. Nanoparticles may increase cell density and change cell structures. In addition, they can change the curing behaviour of foam rubber by affecting curing rate and scorch time of rubber. In the end, mechanical properties of EPDM foam rubbers investigated by experimental tests and implementing few empirical and constitutional mechanical models. It is very helpful to use suitable nanoparticle to achieve desired properties out of fabricated foams.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The thermal and electrical conductivities of SR composites containing Cu-CFs and f-MWNTs were studied. The Cu-CFs and f-MWNTs were prepared by chemical deposition and the coupling method, respectively. Both the fillers were characterised by FT-IR, XRD and SEM and the results showed that the Cu layers were deposited on the surface of the CFs and the MWNTs were successfully modified. In addition, the results of thermal and electrical conductivities for SR composites showed that the hybrid fillers system exhibited a better enhancement on thermal and electrical conductivities for SR composites than the single filler system. The maximum thermal conductivity and the least volume resistivity of SR/Cu-CFs/f-MWNTs composites could reach 3.86?W (m?K)?1 and 3.5?×?103?Ω?cm, respectively. Based on the experimental results, we recognised the improvement of intrinsical thermal and electrical conductivities of CFs and the good dispersion of MWNTs contributed to the formation of densified 3D conducting networks. Thus, the hybrid fillers system could synergistically enhance the thermal and electrical conductivities of SR composites. We believe, this study could provide an effective way for the design of high conductive polymer composites.  相似文献

This anick concerns the convective drying of natural rubber in granule form and aims at improving production. Parts of the research have already been published. With a validated mathematical model, il is possible to know the properties of the medium at any moment and for any point in the tayer. The research led to a simulation program for a zone-type industrial dnjir.
