The complexity of some reachability problems for a system on a finite group

We consider a system defined as the product of a finite set of periodic systems on cyclic groups. It is of interest to determine if certain subgroups and unions of subgroups of the state set are reachable from a specified initial state, and in particular to determine the computational complexity of verifying such reachability. These questions are motivated by certain problems that arise in the modelling and control of discrete event systems and certain forms of periodic scheduling. Our main result is that deciding whether or not the union of a certain set of subgroups is reachable or not is NP-complete.     

The vulnerability of geometric sequences based on fields of odd characteristic

A new method of cryptologic attack on binary sequences is given, using their linear complexities relative to odd prime numbers. We show that, relative to a particular prime number p, the linear complexity of a binary geometric sequence is low. It is also shown that the prime p can be determined with high probability by a randomized algorithm if a number of bits much smaller than the linear complexity is known. This determination is made by exploiting the imbalance in the number of zeros and ones in the sequences in question, and uses a new statistical measure, the partial imbalance.This project was sponsored by the National Security Agency under Grant No. MDA904-91-H-0012. 纯铜双层辉光离子渗钛组织形成机理及性能分析

采用双层辉光离子渗金属技术对纯铜进行了渗钛处理。用配有能谱仪(EDS)的扫描电子显微镜(SEM)、X射线衍射仪和透射电子显微镜对合金层的显微组织形貌、钛含量分布、相组成及相结构类型进行了观察与测定，对合金层的形成机理进行了探讨，并对其性能进行了对比测定。结果表明：渗钛层由合金层和扩散层组成，合金层主要由TiCu (Cu)固溶体 TiCu4构成，TiCu4为Dla型有序相，TiCu为B2型有序相，扩散层为(Cu)固溶体。渗钛处理后纯铜的表面得到显著强化。     

求解机械装配规划的新方法

本文提出一个求解机械装配规划的算法,其计算量～O(sN~2),其中s是零件所有可能装配方向的个数,N是工件的零件数(一般s～O(N)).而现行的求机械装配规划的算法,其计算量均随N的增加按指数律增加.     

NUMERICAL STUDY ON SORET-EFFECT AND DUFOUR-EFFECT FOR DOUBLE-DIFFUSIVE NATURAL CONVECTION IN POROUS ENCLOSURE

The influences of Soret effect and Dufour effect on the natural convection and heat and mass transfer for a porous enclosure were investigated by means of the penalty finite element method. Numerical results indicate that the Soret and Dufour effects have significant influences on heat and mass transfer in the presence of large temperature gradient and concentration gradient.

钻井井架作为钻机系统设备中的关键部分,其力学性能直接关系到整套钻机系统的安全生产。文章推导了常用于分析钻井井架力学性能的理论,即线性屈曲、几何非线性和双重非线性理论。提出同时用这三种理论对钻井井架进行综合比较分析,从而合理地预见井架力学性能的方法。以A形钻井井架为例,进行了详细的分析,得到了井架的失稳形式、极限承载、破坏特征及薄弱部位,为钻井井架的设计、优化与评定提供了参考。

Race as a moderator in a model of sexual harassment: An empirical test.

L. F. Fitzgerald, C. L. Hulin. and F. Drasgow (1995) proposed that victim characteristics, such as race, might moderate the relationships between sexual harassment and its job, psychological, and health status outcomes. This study describes 2 theoretical positions, tokenism and double jeopardy, that could account for this possible moderation by race, as well as the alternative view that no moderating effects exist. The effects of race are empirically examined through simultaneous path analysis. Results indicate that whereas, mean levels of harassment differ across race, the phenomenon of sexual harassment unfolds similarly across races; race is not a moderator of the relationships between sexual harassment and the variables proposed as its antecedents and outcomes.
