Steam absorption process of water/LiBr system inside vertical small bore pipes

In a previous paper, a numerical model for absorption within vertical pipes was proposed and compared with the experiments. Agreements were good for pipes with an OD 28–15 mm but at 10 mm pipe experiments fell below the predicted values. For smaller diameters, the difference between the surface area of the falling liquid film and that of the outer surface of the pipe is not negligible and the thickness of the liquid film is also not negligible. In this paper a new model is formulated in cylindrical coordinates and experiments using pipes with 9.52 mm and 7 mm OD are done. Smooth pipes and two kinds of internally finned pipes, originally developed and used to enhance the heat transfer characteristics of the evaporator and condenser of a refrigerator using HFC as refrigerant, are tested in the experiments. The absorption performance is enhanced by 30% when compared to the smooth pipes, but the difference between the finned pipes is small. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An unsteady flow structure on a heated rotating disk under mixed convection

A flow field under mixed convection on a heated rotating disk has been measured using an ultrasonic velocity profiler (UVP). The measured velocity field is a spatio‐temporal one as a function of radial coordinates and time. The objective of this paper is to clarify the vortex structure caused by the instability between buoyancy and centrifugal force. The vortex appears under typical conditions of Reynolds numbers and Grashof numbers and it moves toward the outside of the disk. This behavior can be classified into two patterns. The size of the vortex structure decreases with an increasing Reynolds number and increases with the Grashof number. The traveling velocity of the vortex increases with the Grashof number. Moreover, it decreases with an increasing Reynolds number in spite of increasing centrifugal force. According to these results, the region dominated by natural, forced, and mixed convection is classified in the relationship between Reynolds and Grashof numbers. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Discrete Approach to PWL Analog Modeling in VHDL Environment

In this paper a discrete approach to analog modeling is presented. It is a functional-level, piecewise-linear (PWL) technique implemented in the VHDL environment. Since the models are based on some explicit formulas, fully behavioral architectural bodies have been proposed for them. Their most distinguishing features are discussed in detail. The models of practical circuits are illustrated with simulation results.

Degradation of starch by incubation with rumen fluid. A comparison of different starch sources

The degradability of starch from various feedstuffs was investigated in vitro by incubation of 500-mg amounts in 50 ml of a 3:1 rumen fluid/buffer solution at 39°C for 6 h. The rumen fluid was obtained from one of three cows fed on hay or hay and concentrate. The degree of degradation after 6 h incubation varied strongly for the 23 feedstuffs investigated. The degradation of starch from the same feedstuff in rumen fluid from a hay-fed cow was significantly lower than in rumen fluid from a concentrate-fed cow. It seemed that differences in degradability between feedstuffs were not determined by the ration of the donor cow, but merely by the properties of the starch. Processed feedstuffs showed a higher degradation of their starch than the unprocessed feedstuffs, independent of the ration of the donor cow. Particle size influenced degradation, but not of the starch of tapioca meal. A fairly constant ranking in degradability between the various feedstuffs was found. Fermentation of mixtures of feedstuffs showed about the same rate of degradation as found for the single products. Only when great differences in the degree of degradability existed was the degradation of the total starch enhanced. The time of collection of rumen fluid strongly influenced the in-vitro degradation of starch.     

一种基于音质评估的语音伪装通信新方法

研究一种语音伪装新方法,将保密语音替换成另外一种语音以便于在公网上安全传输。保密语音经2.4kb/低速率压缩编码后,依据设计的客观音质评估模型,将参数隐蔽地嵌入普通语音;检测时利用逆过程恢复保密语音。实验表明算法的信噪比较传统算法提高约3.5dB,并在受到压缩、滤波等攻击时具有较高的鲁棒性。     

RF Testing on a Mixed Signal Tester

In this paper, testing of radio frequency (RF) devices with mixed-signal testers is discussed. General purpose automatic test equipment (ATE) will be used. In this paper, a more universal test structure utilizing RF building blocks is proposed. A global positioning system (GPS) device is used as an example to illustrate how to develop the RF test plan with this usage. The test plan developed includes fast, cost-effective and dedicated circuitry.
