Morphometric and some immunohistochemical characteristics of human choroids plexus stroma and psammoma bodies

Psammoma bodies (PBs) are one of many choroids plexus aging changes. The aim of our research was to perform the quantification of PBs' presence in human choroids plexus stroma, as well as to evaluate the characteristics of choroids plexus stroma in cases in which PBs were present. Afterwards, the observations of the histochemical analysis would be confirmed by immunohistochemical analysis. Choroid plexuses of 30 cadavers were used for the histochemical and, choroids plexuses of 15 cadavers in which PBs' presence was confirmed during the histochemical analysis, were used as material for the immunohistochemical analysis. Light microscopy, histochemical, immunohistochemical, and morphometric method were applied during the study. Classification of the cases was performed by cluster analysis. We observed increase of choroids plexus PBs' presence during the aging process. But this increase is not linear. Their presence is the largest in the second cluster that is younger than the third and older than the first. Nuclear morphometric parameters of the stroma in these cases showed that the cellular composition in this cluster is different than in other two and, that contain larger number of lymphoid cells. Immunohistochemical analysis showed PBs' positive reaction on vimentin, CD45R0, and LCA markers, while in their vicinity, as well as inside them, numerous T-cells were observed. So, the presence of CD45R0 and LCA-positive T cells, PBs' positive reaction on the same markers, indirectly connect these cells with PBs' formation process.     

A methodology for a Very Small Data Base design

This paper proposes a design methodology for very small databases for the purpose of being hosted by portable devices. Three main differences w.r.t. the traditional design methodologies are introduced: first, the main mobility issues are considered along with data distribution; second, context awareness is included in the data design issues to allow full exploitation of context-sensitive application functionalities; and third, the peculiarities of the storage device  (s$s$) are taken into account by introducing a logistic phase after the usual conceptual and logical phases. The three aspects together determine the VSDB ambient which is the set of personal and environmental characteristics determining the portion of data that must be stored on the portable device. This paper details the design methodology in its conceptual, logical and logistic phases.     

1993: Axline's eight principles of play therapy revisited.

Examined V. Axlines's book, Play Therapy (1947) which includes 8 basic principles on non-directive play therapy. Student responses to learning these principles in play therapy classes were also examined. Each student was assigned a play therapy client and was observed and assisted directly by the instructor, a licensed clinical psychologist. Clients were mildly trouble children (aged 5–10 yrs) and were selected from a referral base by the instructor as appropriate for the course. As the semester progressed and students gained direct experience, weekly small (3–4 student) group discussions were held to explore in-depth understanding of play therapy principles and how these principles are put into practice. It is concluded that Axline's book remains a classic text and a foremost resource in the field. Coupling it with experiential learning is an invaluable basis for teaching play therapy. 蒸发结晶操作中传热温差的选择

蒸发结晶是化工生产中常见的单元操作，在其加热过程中，较高的传热温差对于强化传热效率、提高设备能力极为有利。但是，传热温差过高会引起蒸发结晶操作的不稳定，甚至造成生产装置停车，使所追求的高效率适得其反。因此，必须合理选择传热温差，以保证生产装置在高效、稳定的状况下运行。     

1-(2-吡啶偶氮)-2-萘酚分光光度法测定硫酸阳极氧化液中铜

研究了铜与1-(2-吡啶偶氮)-2-萘酚(PAN)的显色反应,建立了测定硫酸阳极氧化液中铜的新方法。以TritonX-100为增溶增敏剂,明胶作稳定保护剂,在酸性条件下Cu-PAN络合物稳定保持在水相中,直接进行光度分析。该络合物在558nm处有最大吸收峰,其表观摩尔吸光系数ε=2.25×104L.mol-1.cm-1。方法检出限为0.028μg/mL,线性范围为0～3.2μg/mL,用于测定硫酸阳极氧化液中的铜,加标回收率为98.2%～105.6%,相对标准偏差≤0.34%。     

Light emission from carbon-based materials under ITER relevant thermal shock loads

Light emission from carbon-based materials (fine grain graphite, CFC and silicon doped CFC) was observed during ITER relevant thermal shock loads by means of in situ optical diagnostics. The light emission which corresponds to particle release clearly indicated different particle release processes in the three materials. The differences were also found in the initiation temperatures of particle release and the surface morphology of the loaded areas. These results are related to the thermal stress in bulk materials. In addition to particle release, vapor cloud formation caused by thermal shock loads were observed as CII lines and lines from the C₂ Swan system. No Si lines but lines from SiC₂ molecules (Merrill-Sanford bands) were observed in Si doped CFC. This indicates that atomic silicon is not released under ITER relevant thermal shock loads.     

Characterization of zirconia-thoria-urania ceramics by X-ray and electron interactions

X-ray and electron interactions with matter were used as probes to characterize the structure and chemistry of zirconia-thoria-urania ceramics. The ceramics were prepared by coprecipitation of Zr, Th and U salts. In this study, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques such as energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) complement X-ray diffraction, extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES), techniques to reveal the phase structure and chemistry. The results from XRD and EDX show that these ceramics separate into a Zr-based phase and an actinide-based phase with low mutual affinity of Th and Zr, as well as partial solubility of U in Zr. The comparison of EELS spectra collected for the ceramics with spectra collected for UO₂ and U₃O₈ reference materials also allow us to assess U oxidation state independently in the two separate phases.
