We investigate the free-edge stresses in anisotropic bimaterials through the use of the free-edge stress intensity factor, Kf. This requires a determination of the singularity order at the free-surface as well as a calculation of the near-field stresses. We determine the order of the singularity for arbitrary free-surface orientation of the upper material using an eigenvalue analysis for anisotropic bimaterials. The interfacial stresses are determined using a boundary element calculation based on anisotropic, bimaterial Green's functions. The variation of Kf with free-surface orientation is determined. We find that the free-edge singularity vanishes for certain angles dependent on the anisotropic elastic constants. The aim of this paper is to determine the dielectric characteristics of tropical wood species at microwaves frequency in order to use them as planar antenna substrate. The measurements have been done on dried wood in the frequency range 8.2–12.4 GHz. The suitability of wood as a microwave printed antenna substrate will be determined by the values taken by the complex parameters “permittivity” εε and “permeability” μμ and the loss tangent tanδtanδ. The measurement methods were based on the waveguide method and the open resonator technique. The first method gave us the reference values while the second one confirmed the previous measurements. Values obtained in the three principal axis of each species confirm the anisotropic nature of wood. These measurements will also confirm that the losses which are the main criteria of selecting wood as substrate grow with the density of the wood.  相似文献

The plastic behavior of anisotropic steel and aluminum sheets is identified by combining the results of classical uniaxial tensile tests and heterogeneous biaxial tensile tests on non-standard cruciform specimens specifically designed for obtaining a high sensitivity of strain fields to material anisotropy. The strain fields are measured on the surface of the specimens by means of an image correlation method. The 8-parameter anisotropic yield function proposed by Ferron et al. [1] is adopted for identification. On the one hand, the results of uniaxial tensile tests are analyzed to determine the strain-hardening parameters and yield function parameters related to transverse strain-anisotropy (angular variation of the anisotropy coefficient R) and stress-anisotropy (angular variation of the yield stress σ). On the other hand, strain fields measured in the biaxial tests are used as input data in an optimization procedure that consists of fitting simulated fields with experimental ones in order to determine the material parameters describing the shape of the yield surface in the biaxial stretching range. The identified yield function is validated using experimental data issued from biaxial tests that were not considered during the optimization process.  相似文献

A simple, high yield, method for the fabrication of sharp silicon tips is described. A triangular etch mask design is used to ensure that the tip forms with a single point. An anisotropic wet etch gives rise to a tip that continues to “self-sharpen” after the etch mask is released. The tip geometry comprises three converging {1 1 3} planes towards the apex with {3 1 3} planes forming at the base. The apex of each tip typically has a radius of curvature of <5 nm, which can be reduced to <2 nm by a subsequent oxide sharpening process. Tips of this kind have been successfully integrated into the fabrication of atomic force microscopy probes.  相似文献

In the Li2O–M2O5–TiO2 (M = Nb or Ta) system, Li1+x-yM1-x-3yTix+4yO3 (LMT) forms with a superstructure known as the M-phase, in which the periodical intergrowth layers are inserted in a matrix having a trigonal structure of LiMO3. We have been investigating this unique material focusing on its crystal structure, photoluminescence, and electrical properties.First, the formation area of the superstructure was compared between Nb- and Ta- systems and the difference was accurately analyzed.Second, to apply this unique material as a host material of phosphor, we synthesized new phosphors with various emission colors. Red phosphor, having a high PL intensity with an internal quantum efficiency of 98%, was successfully synthesized and used as a host material of the solid solution for the Ta system. Its high value was the result of the large centroid-to-cation distance of the Eu3+ position in the [(Li, Eu)O12] polyhedral.Further still, toward application of the unique qualities of an electro-ceramic, we successfully fabricated oriented balk ceramics for the Nb system by slip casting in a strong magnetic field of 12 T. As a result, anisotropic electric properties were found along the c-axis, which were caused by the superstructure. We first clarified the mechanism showing that the anisotropic Qf value was due to anisotropic electron conductivity and anisotropic bonding strength within the superstructure.  相似文献

We propose a new numerical tool for structural optimization design. To cut down the computational burden typical of the Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) method, we apply Proper Orthogonal Decomposition on SIMP snapshots computed on a fixed grid to construct a rough structure (predictor) which becomes the input of a SIMP procedure performed on an anisotropic adapted mesh (corrector). The benefit of the proposed design tool is to deliver smooth and sharp layouts which require a contained computational effort before moving to the 3D printing production phase.  相似文献

Calcite has a highly anisotropic thermal expansion coefficient, and repeated heating and cooling cycles can potentially destabilize chalks by breaking cement bonds between neighboring particles. Based on tensile strength measurements, we investigated how temperature cycles induce weakening of chalk. Tensile strength tests were performed on chalk specimens sampled from Kansas (USA) and Mons (Belgium), each with differing amounts of contact cement. Samples of the two chalk types were tested in dry and water-saturated states, and then exposed to 0, 15, and 30 temperature cycles in order to find out under what circumstances thermally induced tensile strength reduction occurs. The testing results show that the dry samples were not influenced by temperature cycling in either of the chalk types. However, in the water-saturated state, tensile strength is increasingly reduced with progressive numbers of temperature cycles for both chalk samples, especially for the more cemented Kansas chalk. The Kansas chalk demonstrated higher initial tensile strength compared to the less cemented Mons chalk, but the strength of both chalks was reduced by the same relative proportion when undergoing thermal cycles in the water-saturated state.  相似文献

Pre-grouting ahead of tunnels has three main functions: to control water inflow into the tunnel, to limit groundwater drawdown above the tunnel, and to make tunnelling progress more predictable since rock mass quality is effectively improved. It helps to avoid settlement damage caused by consolidation of clay deposits beneath built-up areas, since towns tend to be built where terrain is more flat, due to the clay deposits. There are so many instances of settlement damage that the profession needs to take note of the need for high-pressure pre-grouting, to use micro-cements and micro-silica additives. The use of highpressure injection may cause joint jacking, but this is local in extent when the rapid pressure decay away from an injection hole is understood. This effect is variable and depends on the geometrical parameters of the joints. This pressure-decay advantage must not be violated by maintaining high pressure when grout flow from the injection hole has ceased. The latter can cause damage to the grouting already achieved. Simplified methods of estimating mean hydraulic apertures(e) from Lugeon testing are described, and from more sophisticated three-dimensional(3 D) permeability measurement. The estimation of the larger mean physical joint apertures(E) is based on the joint roughness coefficient(JRC).Comparison is then made with the empirical aperture-particle size criterion E 4 d95, where d95 represents almost the largest cement particle size. Depending on joint set orientations and on the available micro-cements, the decision must be made of which range of pre-injection pressure should be aimed for,using successive reductions of the water-cement ratio w/c. More simple estimation of permeability, also with depth dependence, can be made with the empirical link between a modified rock mass quality Q and permeability, which is termed QH2 O. The value of this parameter can be based on core-logging or intunnel face logging. The 3 D before-and-after-grouting permeability measurements have been used to justify the quantification of rock mass quality Q-parameter improvement, and the consequent increases in expected P-wave velocity and deformation modulus, for application in dam foundation treatment and its monitoring.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove a novel result of the consistency error estimate with order O(h2) for EQ1rot element (see Lemma 2) on anisotropic meshes. Then, a linearized fully discrete Galerkin finite element method (FEM) is studied for the time-fractional nonlinear parabolic problems, and the superclose and superconvergent estimates of order O(τ+h2) in broken H1-norm on anisotropic meshes are derived by using the proved character of EQ1rot element, which improve the results in the existing literature. Numerical results are provided to confirm the theoretical analysis.  相似文献
