Heat transfer enhancement by Marangoni convection in the NH3–H2O absorption process

The objectives of this paper are to quantify the effect of Marangini convection on the absorption performance for the ammonia–water absorption process, and to visualize Marangoni convection that is induced by adding a heat transfer additive, n-octanol. A real-time single-wavelength holographic interferometer is used for the visualization using a He–Ne gas laser. The interface temperature is always the highest due to the absorption heat release near the interface. It was found that the thermal boundary layer (TBL) increased faster than the diffusion boundary layer (DBL), and the DBL thickness increased by adding the heat transfer additive. At 5 s after absorption started, the DBL thickness for 5 mass% NH₃ without and with the heat transfer additive was 3.0 and 4.5 mm, respectively. Marangoni convection was observed near the interface only in the cases with heat transfer additive. The Marangoni convection was very strong just after the absorption started and it weakened as time elapsed. It was concluded that the absorption performance could be improved by increasing the absorption driving potential (x_vb−x_vi) and by increasing the heat transfer additive concentration. The absorption heat transfer was enhanced as high as 3.0–4.6 times by adding the heat transfer additive that generated Marangoni convection.     

Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations of radiation induced segregation and precipitation

Kinetics of radiation induced segregation and precipitation in binary alloys are studied by Monte Carlo simulations. The simulations are based on a simple atomic model of diffusion under electron irradiation, which takes into account the creation of point defects, the recombination of close vacancy-interstitial pairs and the point defect annihilation at sinks. They can reproduce the coupling between point defect fluxes towards sinks and atomic fluxes, which controls the segregation tendency. In pure metals and ideal solid solutions, the Monte Carlo results are found to be in very good agreement with classical models based on rate equations. In alloys with an unmixing tendency, we show how the interaction between the point defect distribution, the solute segregation and the precipitation driving force can generate complex microstructural evolutions, which depend on the very details of atomic-scale diffusion properties.     

Supercritical gases pasteurization of apple juice

Supercritical CO₂ and N₂O pasteurization of apple juice, inoculated with Saccharomyces cerevisiae as test microorganism, was performed at 36 °C on a laboratory multi-batch apparatus of a total volume of 150 ml. The pressure values ranged from 100 to 200 bar. Experimental results indicate the effectiveness of the method proposed. A stochastic model of the process was developed on the basis of the experimental evidence: high-pressure inactivation curves were analysed using a stochastic model based on multi-hit model. Furthermore, the samples of the cells subjected to high-pressure treatments were examined by environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) to determine the effect of the process on the cell wall.

基于B/S的网上教学系统

利用ASP技术与ADO技术,采用Browser/Server模式设计了一个网上教学系统,它包括网上报名、网络课堂、在线答疑和师生信箱.用户可通过交互式动态形式来学习课程内容、进行随机抽取试题、即时打分、查看以往成绩、修改个人信息记录等功能.     

TiSiW12O40/TiO2催化合成丙酸正丙酯

研究了固载杂多酸盐TiSiW12O40/TiO2催化丙酸与正丙醇的酯化反应，探讨了催化剂用量，反应时间及醇酸摩尔比对酯收率的影响。当醇酸摩尔比为1.3:1，催化剂的量为醇酸总质量的1.5%。反应时间为1.0h，酯产率可达71.4%以上，采用该催化剂合成丙酸正丙酯不仅酯化反应温度低，反应时间较短，催化剂用量少，而且可较好地回收利用，可降低成本；因此，TiSiW12O40/TiO2是合成丙酸正丙酯的优良催化剂，具有良好的应用前景。

A Hermitian Box-scheme for One-dimensional Elliptic Equations – Application to Problems with High Contrasts in the Ellipticity

We introduce a new box-scheme, called ``hermitian box-scheme' on the model of the one-dimensional Poisson problem. The scheme combines features of the box-scheme of Keller, [20], [13], with the hermitian approximation of the gradient on a compact stencil, which is characteristic of compact schemes, [9], [21]. The resulting scheme is proved to be 4th order accurate for the primitive unknown u and its gradient p. The proved convergence rate is 1.5 for (u,p) in the discrete L ² norm. The connection with a non standard mixed finite element method is given. Finally, numerical results are displayed on pertinent 1-D elliptic problems with high contrasts in the ellipticity, showing in practice convergence rates ranging from 1 to 2.5 in the discrete H ¹ norm.
