New electron micrographs, produced using the technique of Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy, showing the details of the micellar surface, are presented. The images show the micellar surfaces without any coating, and suggest that the surface of the micelle may have a much more complex structure than has previously been demonstrated. Although there appear to be no spherical subunits (submicelles), there is evidence for the organization of the caseins into tubular structures within the micelle. The surface is not smooth, and contains gaps between the substructures. The observations are discussed in terms of published models of micellar structure, where is it suggested how the depiction of the micellar surface can be used to explain certain factors of its reactivity and behaviour.  相似文献

Specimen preparation and image processing/analysis techniques were developed for use in automated quantitative microstructural investigation of concrete, focusing on concrete microcracks and voids. Different specimen preparation techniques were developed for use in fluorescent and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of concrete; then techniques produce a sharp contrast between microcracks/voids and the body of concrete. The image processing/analysis techniques developed specifically for use with concrete address the following usages: automatic threshold; development of intersecting microcracks/voids and connected voids; distinction of microcracks form voids based on geometric attributes; and noise filtration.  相似文献

Coating of 0.65Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–0.35PbTiO3 (PMN–PT) relaxor ferroelectrics by a sol–gel method is followed by growth of epitaxial SrRuO3 (SRO) metallic oxide electrodes on SrTiO3 (STO) single-crystal substrate by pulsed laser deposition. High-quality PMN–PT films on SRO with preferred growth orientation were successfully fabricated by controlling the operation parameters. Structural properties of relaxor ferroelectric PMN–PT thin films on SRO/STO substrates have been studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). In-plane and out-of-plane alignments of the heterostructure are confirmed and the structural twinning of the materials are also revealed.  相似文献

The most frequently used ones are described and the type of structural information they can provide on materials is explained in relation to the physical processes on which they are based. The interest for the use of vegetal fibers as polymers reinforcement has recently increased because of their unique environmental and technological advantages. This work evaluated the use of Curauá fibers in polyamide-6 composites aiming at glass fiber replacement. Fiber content of 20, 30 or 40 wt% and fiber lengths of 0.1 or 10 mm were studied. Fibers were treated with N2 plasma or washed with NaOH solution, to improve their adhesion to PA-6. Samples with 20 wt% of short or long fibers, with or without pre-treatment, were compounded in two different co-rotating intermeshing twin-screw extruders. These samples were submitted to mechanical and thermal tests. In conclusion, non-dried raw materials improved fiber/matrix interfacial adhesion. Tensile and flexural properties of this composite are better than unfilled, but lower than glass fiber reinforced polyamide-6. However, its impact resistance and heat deflection temperature are similar to the glass fiber reinforced polyamide-6 and its lower density, enable it to replace this latter in specific non-critical applications.  相似文献

We have investigated synthesis conditions and some properties of sprayed Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films in order to determine the best preparation conditions for the realization of CZTS based photovoltaic solar cells. The thin films are made by means of spraying of aqueous solutions containing copper chloride, zinc chloride, tin chloride and thiourea on heated glass substrates at various temperatures. In order to optimize the synthesis conditions of the CZTS films, two series of experiments are performed. In the first series the sprayed duration was fixed at 30 min and in the second it is fixed at 60 min. In each series, the substrate temperature was changed from 553°K to 633°K. The X-ray diffraction shows, on one hand, that the best crystallinity was obtained for 613°K as substrate temperature and 60 min as sprayed duration. On the other hand, these CZTS films exhibit the kesterite structure with preferential orientation along the [112] direction. Atomical Force Microscopy was used to determine the grain sizes and the roughness of these CZTS thin film. After the annealing treatment, we estimated the optical band-gap energy of the CZTS thin film exhibiting the best crystallinity as 1.5 eV which is quite close to the optimum value for a solar cell.  相似文献

The autoxidation at alkaline pH and enzymatic oxidation by mushroom tyrosinase of oleuropein, the dominant biophenol present in the fruits and leaves of Olea europea, was followed by both electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and absorption spectroscopy. For comparison, the same oxidation processes were applied to 4‐methylcatechol, a simple polyphenol present in olive mill wastewaters. EPR spectra of stable o‐semiquinone radicals produced during autoxidation at pH 12 and short‐lived o‐semiquinone free radicals produced during autoxidation at pH 9.0 or tyrosinase action and stabilized by chelation with a diamagnetic metal ion (Mg2+) were recorded for both polyphenols, and the corresponding hyperfine splitting constants were determined. The UV‐Vis spectral characteristics of the oxidation of polyphenols were highly dependent on the type of polyphenol, oxidant type and the pH of the reaction. The kinetic behavior of tyrosinase in the presence of oleuropein and 4‐methylcatechol was followed by recording spectral changes at 400 nm (absorption maximum) over time. The tysosinase activity with oleuropein showed a pronounced pH optimum at pH 6.5 and a minor one around pH 8. From the data analysis of the initial rate at pH 6.5, the kinetic parameters Km = 0.34 ± 0.03 mM and Vmax = 0.029 ± 0.002 ΔA400 min–1 were determined for oleuropein.  相似文献

We report the production of carbon nanotubes by high dose of electron irradiation. The irradiation was performed with a 2 MeV Van de Graaff accelerator, while the irradiation conditions were the following: voltage 1.3 MeV, current 5 µA, dose rate 25 kGy/min, and total dosage 1000 kGy. The samples were analyzed in a high-resolution transmission electron microscope. The main features observed on the samples, were huge nanotubes of several nanometer long and few nanometer wide, which are capped at one end. It is good to point out, that at this level of irradiation, we were not able to find either onion-like or particle structures throughout the material, as it is usual in similar hexagonal structures. This behavior could be attributed to the level of irradiation used to create the nanotubes under investigation.  相似文献
