Resveratrol, a stilbene molecule belonging to the polyphenol family, is usually extracted from a great many natural plants. The technologies of preparation and extraction methods are developing rapidly. As resveratrol has many beneficial properties, it has been widely utilized in food and medicine industry. In terms of its structure, it is susceptible to degradation and can undergo chemical changes during food processing. Different studies have therefore given more attention to various aspects of resveratrol, including anti-aging, anti-oxidant, and anti-cancer activity. This review classifies the study of resveratrol, considers plant sources, synthesis, stability, common reactions, and food applications, and provides references to boost its food and medical utilization. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

Domestic front gardens provide a valuable asset in the control of surface water runoff in towns and cities. Projected increases in future rainfall make this asset increasingly important, while growing trends of paving over front gardens puts this asset at jeopardy. The contribution of paved front gardens to the overall urban flood burden is often neglected. This paper quantifies rainwater runoff from a typical front garden using numerical simulation. Runoff is quantified in terms of both current and future rainfall intensities and in relation to variables of impermeable cover and soil type. Garden runoff is shown to be directly proportional to the area of impermeable cover and rainfall intensity. Soil type is important in determining runoff with faster infiltrating soils experiencing higher percentage increases in runoff if paved over, and slower infiltrating soils experiencing increased runoff volumes even from unpaved gardens in response to increased rainfall due to future climate change. 相似文献

A dimensionless methodology to evaluate the water saving obtainable from large-scale implementation of domestic rain water harvesting (RWH) systems in urban areas is presented. The methodology combines the use of regressive relationships for water saving evaluation based on the results of the dimensionless rainwater tank water balance and of catchment-wide information obtained from geospatial databases. The adopted RWH scheme included internal use of rainwater for toilet flushing and external use for garden irrigation. An application to a portion of the city of Rome, Italy showed the methodology to allow systematic and accurate evaluation of RWH system performance at the selected urban scale. Results pointed out high water saving potential for toilet flushing ranging between 38–65% for tank sizes within 1–50 m3. Furthermore, more than one third of the systems provided water saving benefit for irrigation larger than 20% by using a 50 m3 tank. 相似文献
