"Rich" and "poor" children estimated the size of coins and discs under sound vs. no sound conditions and 2 levels of background brightness. Contrary to prediction, no relation was found to exist between sound level and size estimation, although such a relation did exist for background brightness. The findings failed to replicate the data of Bruner and Goodman, whereas they were in substantial agreement with those of Carter and Schooler. These results were as follows: (a) large coins tended to be judged larger, and small coins judged smaller than neutral discs of comparable size; and (b) no differential effect was observed on the stimations of coins and discs as a function of economic status. There was, however, a reliable tendency for the children of lower economic status to everestimate both coins and discs when compared with those of higher status. (17 ref.) Tracking performances were compared using a differential brightness display (DBD) and a conventional positional display when both displays were moved to the periphery. Results of a previous study and the present study have shown that performance with the positional display was superior to performance with the DBD when the S looked directly at them. As the displays were moved to the peripheral visual areas (15°, 30°, and 45° eccentricity) the reverse of this was true, performances with the DBD were superior. This was reflected both in the actual performance scores and the amount of time S spent looking toward the displays. In this work, we fabricate 1-in carbon nano tubes (CNTs) flat lamp of diode and triode structure. The CNTs have been directly grown on soda-lime glass substrate by thermal growth method. To know the optimized flat lamp structure, we have simulated the electric field distribution in these structures by the Maxwell simulator. The metal-mesh grid is inserted between an anode and cathode plate for dispersion of emitted electrons and decrease of turn-on voltage, and we investigate the trajectory of emitted electrons in the triode structure. Also, we suggest the direct joint packaging method, which needs no exhausting hole and tube. The CNTs flat lamps are successfully packaged and fully emitted with high brightness. The emission and brightness properties of CNTs are investigated for various conditions. 相似文献

An experiment was conducted that investigated the comparative tracking performances using a differential brightness display (DBD) and a conventional positional display. The results indicated superior tracking performance with the positional display. When the percentage reduction of system error at the completion of training was computed, the differences between display groups was minimal. The inability of S to maintain precisely the same level of performance with the brightness display as with the positional display was attributed to an "area-of-uncertainty" around the reference brightness. Distinctions were made regarding performance between "early learning" and "late learning" for both displays. It was suggested that, during early learning, S established control-display relationships and learned the nature of the forcing function. During late learning, S's performance consisted of finer control adjustments. These adjustments were much finer for the positional display than for the DBD because of the area-of-uncertainty. A lamellar structure consisted of dielectric and ferroelectric slabs is considered within the continuous media theory. It is shown that, at the ferroelectric phase transition, in the ferroelectric slabs, there appears an alternating domain structure which resembles the structure studied earlier in a ferroelectric thin film with dead layers and in a ferroellastic thin films on a substrate. It is shown that the dielectric properties of this structure depend on the relative width of the dielectric and ferroelectric layers. We suggest that this microscopic model can be generating for heterogeneous ferroelectrics and, in particular, for relaxors. We show that, by using this model, it is possible to introduce an order parameter of the relaxor state in heterogeneous ferroelectrics which corresponds to a nanodomain structure.
