Following our previous report on the first prototype of non-imaging focusing heliostat, this second prototype has presented much improvement not only in the respect of structure but also in the method of controlling. The principle and practice of these changes have been reported in the article. The development of the new heliostat which is closer to cost effectiveness may bring some commercial interest. This paper proposes a new robust feedforward tracking servo system for optical disk recording systems in the case of a sudden disturbance for the optical disk recording system. In optical recording systems, the tracking servo system must suppress tracking error below its tolerance. This paper designs the robust feedback control system by using the coprime factorization and disturbance observer. The proposed robust feedback control system suppresses the sudden disturbance caused by walking and running. The detecting signal of optical disk recording systems is only a tracking error. Hence, the feedforward controller of the proposed tracking control system is constructed based on both Zero Phase Error Tracking (ZPET) control theory and prediction of tracking error. The experimental results point out that the proposed tracking servo system has a quick and precise tracking response and keeps the residual tracking error below its tolerance. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The switching adaptive control method has been used for quite a few years to solve the adaptive stabilization and model reference adaptive control problems. However, a serious problem with the switching control method is that the number of ‘candidate’ controllers can potentially be very large, especially for multi‐input–multi‐output systems. In this paper, we consider a class of minimum‐phase multi‐input–multi‐output plants with some mild compactness assumptions. Given any polynomial reference input, we provide a switching control law which guarantees exponentially stability of the closed‐loop system with exponential tracking performance. The main contribution of the paper is that we give the minimum number of candidate controllers required for switching. In particular, the number is equal to 2 for single‐input–single‐output plants (one for each sign of the high‐frequency gain), and is equal to 2m for m‐input–m‐output plants. We study linear-quadratic adaptive tracking problems for a special class of stochastic systems expressed in the state-space
form. This is a long-standing problem in the control of aircraft flying through atmospheric turbulence. Using an ELS-based
algorithm and introducing dither in the control law we show that the resulting control achieves optimal cost in the limit,

The purpose of this study was to analyze the symbolization of colors as cultural codes, based on costume colors. In order to study the significance of colors in cultural changes, we carried out a quantitative analysis and interpreted it from the perspective of cultural semiotics. The range of this study was focused on Korean costume colors, over diverse diachronic stages of Korean culture. For this study 1535 color samples were collected, measured with a spectrophotometer, and analyzed quantitatively according their diachronic stages of origin. As a result, red, blue, and yellow were found to be the most frequently used colors during the Chosun Dynasty, a period based on Confucianism. These colors acted as cultural codes with cultural significance. During the Modern times pink, light blue, and black increased in frequency and represented the reception of western culture, the changing sex role of women in society, and utilitarianism. In these days, neutral colors and grayish tones of all colors are the most significant colors of high frequency. The use of such colors is closely related to industrialization, mechanization, functionalism, and the changes of women's sex roles in the societies. They are used as cultural codes, especially to emphasize a rational and masculine image rather than a feminine image. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Strength calculation of sharp notched components In this report the strength calculation of sharp notched components under static and cyclic loading is investigated and compared to the FKM code “Analytical strength assessment for machine components”. The calculation of the strength of sharp notched components according to the guideline does not lead to satisfying solutions. Therefore different concepts of strength calculation with consideration of scale and notch effects are examined e.g. the gradient concept of Siebel/Stieler. This concept is implemented in the FKM code for the calculation of the notch sensitivity factor. In order to evaluate the numerical results, experimental tests with various sharp notched specimens under static and cyclic loading were carried out. Automatic code synthesis from dataflow program graphs is a promising high-level design methodology for rapid prototyping of multimedia embedded systems. Memory efficient code synthesis from dataflow models has been an active research subject to reduce the gap in terms of memory requirements between the synthesized code and the hand-optimized code. However, existent dataflow models have inherent difficulty of efficiently handling data structures. In this paper, we propose a new dataflow extension called fractional rate dataflow (FRDF) in which fractional number of samples can be produced and consumed. In the proposed FRDF model, a constituent data type is considered as a fraction of the composite data type. Existent integer rate dataflow models can be easily extended to incorporate the fractional rates without loosing analytical properties. In this paper, the SDF model is extended to include FRDF, which can reduce the buffer memory requirements significantly, up to 70%, for some multimedia applications. Extended SDF model with fractional rate has been implemented in our system design environment called PeaCE(Ptolemy extension as Codesign Environment). 相似文献
