A computationally efficient algorithm for electromagnetic (EM)‐simulation‐driven design optimization of microwave structures is proposed. Our technique exploits variable‐fidelity EM simulations and the multilevel design approach where an approximate optimum of the lower accuracy but faster EM model of the structure under design is used as a starting point for optimizing a more accurate model. Several enhancements of the basic multifidelity method are introduced, including an efficient algorithm of optimizing EM models that is based on local response surface approximations, as well as automated adjustment of model fidelity. Convergence of the procedure to the optimum design is ensured by defaulting to the higher fidelity model whenever the prediction given by the lower fidelity fails to improve the design. Distribution of the computational effort between the models of different fidelity allows for making larger steps in the design space at a low cost, as well as substantial reduction of the number of high‐fidelity model evaluations, because the high‐fidelity model is only referred to in the last design stage. The article provides comprehensive numerical verification of our technique. Substantial computational savings are demonstrated in comparison to the benchmark methods: over 40% on average as compared to a basic version of the multifidelity optimization approach and over 95% as compared to direct optimization of the high‐fidelity model. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper shows the wide application range (such as electrical self‐heating and electromagnetic shielding effectiveness) of composites consisting of conductive carbon black/aluminum flakes (CBA) filler and epoxy insulative matrix. The effect of CBA content on the network structure of epoxy matrix was investigated in detail. Static electrical conductivity increases linearly with the increase of filler concentration at the interface in epoxy composites. The large decrease of the conductivity as a function of the temperature is analyzed in terms of the negative temperature coefficient of conductivity (NTCC) effect. The influence of viscosity, surface energy and barrier highest energy on the NTCC behaviour in the composite is also considered. Based on these results, a new interpretation is proposed to explain the NTCC phenomena by computing the swelling force among conductive phases. The correlations of conductivity during the temperature cycling and activation energy were analyzed. The effects of dynamic ageing at various temperatures on the resistivity are reported. Current–voltage–temperature characteristics for epoxy with different contents of CBA were examined in detail. A model based on the law of energy conservation is proposed to calculate the specific heat and amount of heat dissipation. The static charge of the epoxy–CBA composites was estimated. The correlation between electromagnetic wave‐shielding effectiveness (EMS), conductivity and frequency of epoxy composites with different filler contents is also discussed. The shock adiabats of pressed carbamide samples with a density of 1.29 g/cm3 and carbamide samples with a bulk density of 0.78 g/cm3 were studied at pressures of 1–14 GPa using an electromagnetic method. In the coordinates D and U, the shock adiabat of pressed carbamide is linear and the shock adiabat of carbamide of bulk density at a pressure of 2.4 GPa is represented as two linear segments: D = 2U at 0.6 < U <1.3 km/sec and D = 0.6 + 1.55U at 1.3 <U < 2.8 km/sec. 由于单一地质超前预报方法对复杂地质段预报的局限性,本文则主要通过地质编录法、瞬变电磁法、水平声波反射法三种方法的综合分析,避开各种方法局限性的影响,完成对复杂地质段的超前预报,同时成功预报一个次生断层以及该断层影响带宽度,并给施工提供合理建议,使得施工顺利进行。预报结果与实际开挖地质情况基本一致,取得了显著效果。因此,在面对复杂地质段时,应用地质编录法、瞬变电磁法、水平声波反射法综合评价地质情况,获取准确、可靠的地质超前预报结果,是一种高效、可行的组合方法之一。 相似文献
