DISPERSION COMPENSATION CFBG IN100km 10Gbit／s RECIRCULATING SYSTEMS

A 10Gbit/s recirculating system is configured with Chirped Fiber Bragg Grating (CFBG) for the dispersion compensation. For the first time, the transmission distance in the loop reaches 1000km with bit error rate of 10-9. The effect of the group delay ripple of the fiber grating is also investigated in the recirculating systems, and it is shown that the transmission distance is limited to 4 cycles (4×167.1km ) in the loop with the power penalty fluctuation below 1.0dB. Thus the group delay ripple should be reduced to allow for the wavelength drift of±5GHz. At the end of this letter, the principles are given for designing long haul recirculating systems with dispersion compensation CFBG.     

Impact on the photothermal emission from single wall nanotubes by some alkali halide salts

We demonstrate that alkali-halide salts, particularly potassium bromide, can reduce the photothermal emission (PTE) from single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT). PTE is a prominent spectral feature in Raman spectroscopy when a near infrared laser is used to analyze a dark colored sample. We subsequently show that trapping salts inside SWNT and coating SWNT with the salt has a more pronounced impact on not only reducing PTE, but also enhancing the intensity of the Raman spectral features. The effect, which we have called nanotube enhanced Raman spectroscopy (NERS), has differences and similarities to the widely studied surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS).

Estimating crystallinity in high density polyethylene fibers using online Raman spectroscopy

Online Raman spectra, obtained at different points along the spin line during pilot‐scale nonisothermal melt spinning of high density polyethylene (HDPE) fibers, are presented for the first time. The fraction of the crystalline phase corresponding to each spectrum was determined from the normalized integrated intensity of the 1418 cm^?1 Raman band. It is well established that this band represents the orthorhombic crystalline phase in polyethylene. The estimates of percent crystallinity obtained from decomposition of the Raman spectrum were compared with the percent crystallinity from differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements. It is concluded that online Raman spectroscopy can be successfully used to monitor the development of crystallinity in HDPE fibers as a function of distance from the spinneret. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. CMOS光接收机主放大器设计

利用CMOS工艺设计一种用于SDH STM 4速率级(622 Mb/s)光纤用户网的光接收机放大电路。此电路由输入/输出缓冲、主放大单元、偏置补偿电路4部分组成。通过直接耦合技术提高增益,降低功耗;利用有源电感负载提高系统带宽。采用商用SmartSpice电路仿真软件和CSMC HJ 0.6μm工艺参数对该电路进行仿真。结果表明,该电路在5 V工作电压下中频增益为81 dB,3 dB带宽为470 MHz。     

两种基于弯曲损耗的光纤测试仪器原理及应用

光纤通信技术的飞速发展带动了光纤测试仪器的发展。主要对两种利用弯曲损耗对光纤进行检测的仪器——光纤识别仪、光纤对线器的原理、结构及其在光纤通信工程中的应用进行了阐述，两种仪器可以在不中断光纤通信的情况下对光纤进行检测，极大地降低了对光纤通信系统的影响，对光纤通信系统具有重要意义。
