Traditional use of grid computing allows a user to submit batch jobs in a grid environment. We believe, next generation grids will extend the application domain to include interactive graphical sessions. We term such grids Interactive Grids. In this paper, we describe some of the challenges involved in building Interactive Grids. These include fine grain access control, performance QoS guarantees, dynamic account management, scheduling, and user data management. We present the key architectural concepts in building Interactive Grids viz. hierarchical sessions, hierarchical admission control, hierarchical agents, classes of dynamic accounts, application profiling, user data management, scheduling for interactive sessions, persistent environment settings, and exporting remote desktop. We also describe IGENV, an environment for enabling interactive grids. IGENV consists of GISH –Grid Interactive Shell, Controlled Desktop, SAC –Session Admission Control module, GMMA –Grid Monitoring and Management Agents, and Policy Engine. We also present our testbed implementation for Interactive Grids using and extending Globus Toolkit 2.0 for the Grid middleware infrastructure, and VNC as the remote display technology.  相似文献

This paper examines the use of a series of three low tech interactive assemblies that have been exhibited by the authors in a range of fairs, expositions and galleries. The paper does not present novel technical developments, but rather uses the low tech assemblies to help scope out the design space for CSCW in museums and galleries and to investigate the ways in which people collaboratively encounter and explore technological exhibits in museums and galleries. The bulk of the paper focuses on the analysis of the use of one interactive installation that was exhibited at the Sculpture, Objects and Functional Art (SOFA) Exposition in Chicago, USA. The study uses audio–visual recordings of interaction with and around the work to consider how people, in and through their interaction with others, make sense of an assembly of traditional objects and video technologies. The analysis focuses on the organised practices of assembly and how assembling the relationship between different parts of the work is interactionally accomplished. The analysis is then used to develop a series of design sensitivities to inform the development of technological assemblies to engender informal interaction and sociability in museums and galleries.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to develop an interactive system for supporting the decision making process under multiple objectives and to empirically evaluate its performance. An interactive algorithm underlying the system is proposed with emphasis on the psychological aspects of the decision maker (DM). A choice process model is developed, based on pairwise comparison judgments of alternatives, because the judgments are basic and easy for a DM. A corresponding interactive algorithm is implemented and compared with other existing algorithms. Two kinds of comparative experiments, numerical and subject experiments, are conducted to verify the validity of the choice model as well as the practical effectiveness and the convergence of the algorithm.  相似文献

采用分布交互仿真技术开发武器装备训练仿真器已成为军事训练现代化的重要标志。该论文在简要介绍基于高层体系结构(High Level Architecture,简称HLA)开发的某战场侦察雷达训练仿真器的结构以及各部分功能的基础上,分析、设计了雷达方的多线程软件框架。然后,详细讨论了雷达方在脉冲压缩方式下搜索目标、跟踪目标的算法,给出了算法的主要流程,并应用联邦开发与执行过程模型(Federation Development and Execute Proccss Model,即FEDEP)建立了雷达成员的仿真模型。  相似文献

Bicubic parametric surfaces are often used to represent complex shapes in systems for computer-aided design and manufacture. Such as surface can be defined by a topologically rectangular mesh of cubic parametric splines, a curve which is an approximate mathematical model of the linear elastic beam.Smoothing a bicubic parametric surface can be done by smoothing the curve net that defines it. This paper describes a method for moving datapoints in a curve net to new ‘smoother’ positions. Different techniques to analyse the result of the smoothing are also discussed.  相似文献

Because of the growing spread of mobile and small devices (like PDAs, mobile phones, etc.), designers and developers of interactive systems have to consider user mobility and the dynamic context of use. In this paper we discuss the design criteria we have defined for developing handheld location-aware systems for indoor environments. We analyse some of the technologies currently available for this purpose and examine how to use them in order to obtain location-dependent information. We report on our experience in designing a location-aware guide for museum visitors and identify possible design criteria for this type of system, which uses automatic detection of a change in environment to trigger the presentation of multi-modal, context-dependent information through a hand-held guide.  相似文献

Aerospace design is a complex task requiring access to large amounts of specialized information. Consequently, intelligent systems that support and amplify the abilities of human designers by capturing and presenting relevant information can profoundly affect the speed and reliability of design generation. This article describes research on supporting aerospace design by integrating a case-based design support framework with interactive tools for capturing expert design knowledge through concept mapping. In the integrated system, interactive concept mapping tools provide crucial functions for generating and examining design cases and navigating their hierarchical structure, while CBR techniques facilitate retrieval and aid interactive adaptation of designs. Our goal is both to provide a useful design aid and to develop general interactive techniques to facilitate case acquisition and adaptation. Experiments illuminate the performance of the system's context-sensitive retrieval during interactive case adaptation and the conditions under which it provides the most benefit.  相似文献
