Changes in moral judgment and self-acceptance in college students as a function of companionship with hospitalized mental patients.

The present investigation describes studies undertaken to determine the effects of association with hospitalized mental patients on the personalities of 32 male college students who were compared to a control group of 24 comparable students who had not been involved in this experience with mental patients. The former demonstrate significant positive change in self-acceptance and in moral judgments concerning sexual and aggressive behaviors. Adaptability measures as predictors of performance ratings.

How well do measures of temperamental and motivational characteristics in training predict success of performance of officers as indicated by Officer Effectiveness Ratings? S were selected from 666 cadets at one base and 69 at another. Variables used were 3 global indicies of adaptability and 10 variables representing the common factors. "(a) measures of adaptability to training and Air Force Life are more highly related to later officer performance than are measures of aptitude or ability; (b) assessments of a man's functioning involving personal judgments of peers, superiors, and experts are predictive of later performance as an Air Force officer." Self-concept conflict indicators and learning.

"The present study tests the hypothesis that it will be more difficult to learn syllables associated with conflictual adjectives than it will be to learn syllables associated with neutral ones." On the basis of the results of the Bills-Vance-McLean Index of Adjustment and Values, six conflict and six neutral words, each paired with a nonsense syllable, are presented to 94 college freshman Ss and required to be learned by the anticipation method. The syllables paired with the conflict words require a significantly greater number of trials to learn, supporting the hypothesis of defensive behavior, in terms of elevated learning thresholds, for material associated with words identified as conflictual. 24 references. The self-concept: Fact or artifact.

Research interest in the last 10 years has been sufficient enough so that it is now possible to ask whether the self is an objective reality or a nebulous abstraction. Assessment of the emipircal and theoretical foundations as well as the philosophical suggest that the self is an artifact which has been invented to explain experience. The stability of interpersonal judgments in independent situations.

"Self Verbalization and Emotional Arousal": Erratum.

Reports an error in the original article by David C. Rimm and Stuart B. Litvak (Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 1969[April],74[2],181-187). On page 187 of the article corrections need to be made in the first and second paragraphs. (The following abstract of this article originally appeared in record 1969-09037-001.) Investigated certain assumptions derived from A. Ellis' theory relating implicit verbalization to emotional arousal. Emotional responses (GSR and respiration changes) of 18 undergraduates instructed to silently read sequences of affectively loaded sentences were compared with those of 9 Ss who read neutral sentences. The relationship between relevance to S of the content of the sentences and level of emotional response was investigated, as was the effect of sentence type (observation, inference, or evaluative conclusion) on level of emotional response. Results were that Ss showed a significantly greater response to affectively loaded than to neutral sentences on 2 out of 3 responses measures. Neither relevance nor sentence type were found to have any significant effect. Results were interpreted as offering only partial support for the theory. 以短生育期籼稻为原料的鲜湿米粉食用品质与消化特性研究

以早、晚季种植的短生育期籼米品种(CPPC16、CPPC18、CPPC38、CPPC52)为对象,对大米淀粉物化特性进行比较;并对8种短生育期大米加工的鲜湿米粉的食用品质和消化特性进行探究。结果表明：早季稻与晚季稻相比较,早季稻的直链淀粉含量、回生值与糊化温度高于同品种的晚季稻。大米淀粉特性与鲜湿米粉质构特性相关性分析中,直链淀粉含量、回生值与最终黏度、水溶性与质构指标呈显著(P<0.05)或极显著正相关(P<0.01),膨胀力与质构指标呈显著负相关(P<0.05)。对比两种鲜湿米粉加工专用米种,短生育期品种中以早季18号的综合评分最高(0.93),略低于桂朝米的1.07,高于阳春米的0.87。

来宾电厂420t/h锅炉煤种适应性的分析

来宾电厂1号、2号锅炉原设计燃用烟煤,为适应煤炭市场变化,拟掺烧部分无烟煤。以来宾电厂拟用煤种为试验对象,应用所提出的煤质燃烧特性指数分析煤样的燃烧特性,应用锅炉结构特性指数分析判断锅炉的结构特性,并将这两种特性相耦合,给出了保证锅炉安全经济运行的锅炉稳定性常数、锅炉燃尽性常数和锅炉结渣性常数。根据所得锅炉常数,判断拟用煤种对锅炉的适应性。经综合考虑,来宾电厂锅炉拟用无烟煤与烟煤的掺混比例不宜超过5?5。     

钉头管自支承式换热器的耦合传热及流场数值模拟研究

对钉头管自支承式换热器的结构进行合理简化,建立数值模型,用FLUENT软件对其温度场和流场进行数值模拟,分析比较了钉头管自支承式换热器对空气、水、润滑油3种介质的强化传热效果。结果表明钉头管自支承式换热器对粘度较小的空气介质效果更明显,其强化传热系数可达光管结构的1.7倍左右,压降为光管结构的1.04-1.08倍。
