IntroductionThe main purpose of this cross-sectional study was to investigate whether visual discomfort acts as a mediating factor between perceived visual ergonomic working conditions and self-rated visual performance among office workers who carry out administrative tasks and computer-based work at the Swedish Tax Agency.MethodsA questionnaire was sent to 94 office workers addressing: 1) perceived visual quality of the visual display units; 2) prevalence of eye symptoms; and 3) self-rated visual performance. Eighty-six persons (54 women (63%), 31 men (36%), and 1 of unspecified sex) answered the questionnaire. Multiple regression analysis investigated the association between visual ergonomic working conditions and visual performance, both with and without visual discomfort as a mediator.ResultsThe group mean of the Indexed survey questions indicated a reasonably good quality of visual ergonomic working conditions, a relative absence of eye symptoms, and acceptable self-rated visual performance. Results from multiple regression analysis showed a significant association between perceived visual ergonomic working conditions and self-rated visual performance (r2 = 0.30, β = 0.327, p < 0.01). When visual discomfort was used as a mediator, the association between perceived visual ergonomic working conditions and self-rated visual performance remained the same (r2 = 0.32, β = 0.315, p < 0.01).DiscussionIt was remarkable to discover that self-rated visual performance was independent of visual discomfort. Possible explanations include exposure factors not included in the current study, such as dry air and sensory irritation in the eyes, psychosocial stress, time spent performing near work activities, or time exposed to visually deficient working conditions.Relevance to industryThe strong connection between satisfaction with visual ergonomic working conditions and productivity in this study has implications for workplace profitability and staff satisfaction. If productivity is enhanced by better visual ergonomic working conditions, then managers of workplaces may be able to improve work outcomes by optimizing the physical work environment.  相似文献

In this study, a combination of acoustic emission (AE) method (AEM) and wave transmission method (WTM) is used to investigate the behaviors of AE and ultrasonic properties corresponding to initial fracturing in granitic rocks. The relationships of AE characteristics, frequency spectra, and spatial locations with crack initiation (CI) are studied. The anisotropic ultrasonic characteristics, velocity distributions in different ray paths, wave amplitudes, and spectral characters of transmitted waves are investigated. To identify CI stress, damage initiations characterized by strain-based method (SBM), AEM and WTM are compared. For granite samples, it shows that the ratio of CI stress to peak strength estimated by SBM ranges from 0.4 to 0.55, and 0.49–0.6 by WTM, which are higher than that of AEM (0.38–0.46). The CI stress identified by AEM indicates the onset of microcracking, and the combination of AEM and WTM provides an insight into the detection of rock damage initiation and anisotropy.  相似文献

为在持续集成(CI)环境下减少回归测试集、提升回归测试的效率,提出一种适用于CI环境的回归测试套件选择方法。首先,根据每个提交的测试套件历史失败率和执行率信息,进行提交排序;然后,采用机器学习方法,对提交涉及的测试套件进行失败率预测,并选择具有较高失败率的测试套件。该方法综合使用提交排序技术和测试套件选择技术,从而保证既提高故障检测率又能在一定程度上降低测试成本。在Google的开源数据集上进行的实验结果表明:与同样采用提交排序的方法和采用测试套件选择的方法相比,所提方法的开销感知平均故障检测率APFDc提高了1%~27%;在相同的测试时间成本下,所提方法的测试召回提高了33.33~38.16个百分点,变更召回提高了15.67~24.52个百分点,测试套件选择率降低了约6个百分点。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The main emphasis of this work is to explore the biodiesel obtained from waste cooking oil and its utilisation in CI engine blended with ethanol and conventional diesel. Waste cooking oil methyl esters (WCOME) was prepared by transesterification with a heterogeneous catalyst such as CaO. Diesel and WCOME blends of five different proportions with 5% of ethanol uniformly added to them were used as a fuel in a variable compression ratio, constant speed, compression ignition engine. The performance, emission and combustion characteristics of the engine at part and full load conditions were compared with that of neat diesel, varying the compression ratio from 18 to 22. From the experimental results, the blend comprising 20% waste cooking oil, 5% ethanol and 75% mineral diesel showed ameliorated performance and emission characteristics, compared with all the other fuel blends at an optimum compression ratio of 21.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This detailed study focuses mainly on the reduction of oxides of nitrogen emissions from CI engines. It also discusses about other emissions and performance parameters. Injection timing retardation and simultaneous technology methods have been employed for controlling oxides of nitrogen emissions by many researchers. This review paper studies on injection timing retardation and simultaneous technology and its effects on various operating parameters carried out in a biodiesel-powered CI engines. The objective of this work is to find the significance of injection parameters such as retardation of injection timing and simultaneous technology on the various emission parameters. This paper also deals upon the various methods of retardation of injection timing and simultaneous technology to examine the emissions such as HC, CO, NOx, smoke, and particulate matters. The present study showed that widespread review on CI engine emission characteristics in a CI engine fuelled with biodiesel blends.  相似文献
