论我国等同采用国际风险管理标准的必要性

日前,国际标准化组织ISO正式发布了用于风险管理的国际标准ISO 31000:2009《风险管理——原则与指南》。该标准是在经济全球化的新环境下,"特定事件"和"特定法规"的基础上产生的,体现了世界范围内风险管理的最新理论和最佳实践。在全球金融危机尚未结束的今天,该标准的发布具有重要意义。本文从6个方面论述了我国"等同采用"ISO 31000:2009标准的必要性,并指出我国尽早"等同采用"该标准既有实践的基础,又有现实的意义。     

Impacts of Vegetation on the Intraseasonal Oscillation Simulated by the Community Atmosphere Model (CAM3)

The influences of vegetation on intraseasonal oscillation (ISO) were examined using the Community Atmosphere Model version 3 (CAM3). Two 15-year numerical experiments were completed: the first was performed with a realistic vegetation distribution (VEG run),and the second was identical to the VEG run except without land vegetation (NOVEG run). Generally speaking, CAM3 was able to reproduce the spatial distribution of the ISO, but the ISO intensity in the simulation was much weaker than that observed in nature: the ISO has a relatively much stronger signal. A comparison of the VEG run with the NOVEG run revealed that the presence of vegetation usually produces a weak ISO. The vegetation effects on ISO intensity were significant over West Africa and South Asia, especially in the summer half-year.Vegetation also plays an important role in modulating ISO propagation. The eastward propagation of the ISO in the VEG run was clearer than that in the NOVEG run over the West African and Maritime Continent regions. The northward propagation of the ISO in the VEG run was more consistent with observation than that in the NOVEG run.     

Applying direct digital control

One particular aspect of a wide range of HVAC research at the US Center for Building Technology concerned interfacing DDC with the pneumatic system for one of the existing air handling units at the CBT building itself. Using solenoid air valves induced both positive and negative air leaks in the pneumatic system; this did not occur with motorised pressure regulators, though these produced a time delay whenever the regulator's direction of rotation was reversed. Details are given of an adaptive PI algorithm with a self‐tuning regulator approach, developed at CBT and implemented on the air handler in question. From the experience, it is strongly recommended that such an algorithm should be implemented on a positional basis.

The relationship between environmental management systems and organizational innovations

This study provides empirical evidence of the nature of the relationship between environmental management systems and organizational innovations. Using a sample of Spanish manufacturing firms, the study reports on the implementation of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14000 environmental quality standards and the relationship of such implementation with organizational innovations in the firm. The study presents several implications of interest for practitioners, academics, and policy makers. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.     

Optimized protocol for the biocompatibility testing of compression stockings and similar products with close skin contact in vitro

Biocompatibility of six different compression stockings and cytotoxic effects were determined using HaCaT keratinocytes, L929 mouse fibroblasts, primary adult and juvenile keratinocytes Cells were quantified using a luminometric ATP assay and the photometric BCA test. Cytotoxic effects were determined by LDH release. An area-based extraction ratio of 1.25 cm²:mL could be shown to be superior to the weight-based extraction of test material. Extraction medium should be an acidic sweat solution as this helps to recreate in vivo conditions. Monolayer cultures of HaCaT keratinocytes or L929 mouse fibroblasts should be used for testing. Primary adult keratinocytes or primary juvenile keratinocytes can also be used. For the latter, testing under DMEM with FCS is recommended to achieve comparable results. It was found that the compression stockings tested exhibited no negative influence on cell viability in vitro and no direct cytotoxic effects measured as release of LDH. Hence, good biocompatibility could be asserted.

A newly developed life cycle inventory (LCI) database for commonly used structural steel components

The use of steel within the construction sector has enabled the delivery of larger-volume and more complex-shaped structures, while life cycle assessment (LCA) has been introduced as a pro-active design tool to ensure their sustainability. As LCA efficiency greatly depends on the life cycle inventory (LCI) data used, it is the purpose of the current research to present detailed structural steel LCI data and thus increase environmental benefits deriving from the effective use of LCA within construction. Hot-rolled structural steel members were chosen as the research starting point and the necessary information was provided by the leading structural steel manufacturer in Greece. Results include a list of environmental inputs and outputs, which can be used within relevant LCA studies and environmental impact assessment. Critical issues hindering the use of LCA were identified, along with the most environmentally damaging production stages and environmental categories mainly burdened. A new methodology for assessment results comparison was also applied.     

ISO 9001 certification in the American Continent: a statistical analysis and modelling

The ISO 9001 standard is considered as an effective tool to support a quality management system (QMS). A steady growth in the number of ISO 9001 issued certificates is observed worldwide, confirming the interest of companies in this approach. However, information regarding this behaviour over time in the American Continent is scarce. This paper presents a set of qualitative and quantitative analyses related to the ISO 9001 certification (globally and at the country level of the Americas), the use of this standard in countries that were part of the ISO Survey 2011 and modelling the ISO 9001 certification for American countries, in order to characterise through mathematical models, the evolution of the certification process and to identify factors that influence the ISO 9001 issued certificates in the various countries analysed. Based on the work developed, a positive relationship was found between the number of issued certificates in each country per 1000 inhabitants and the indicators of economic development (Gross National Income Per Capita). It is determined that the total reserves of a country is an economic variable that directly affects the number of issued certificates, a finding not observed in other forecasting models.
