Abstract— The yield criterion is interpreted as defining the metric of the stress space. Hydrostatic stresses correspond to null geodesies. The plastic strain increment represents a normal projection of the increment undergone by a certain scalar function (hardening function) which depends only on the distance between stress points. This establishes a flow rule formally equivalent to the Prandtl-Reuss equations. Consideration of un-loading processes leads to the analysis of equivalent paths and to the definition of a generalized length or separation which provides a new representation of kinematic hardening. 相似文献

This paper presents an investigation into the energy absorbing behaviour of axially splitting square metal tubes. Tubes 50 mm square with a variable thickness were pushed slowly against rigid pyramid shaped dies, which had various semi-angles. By pre-cutting 5 mm long slits at the four corners, the tube splits along the corners and curls outward with a certain radius at a constant force. In this energy dissipating system, there are three components: tearing energy, plastic deformation energy and frictional energy. Theoretical analysis of the three energy components is presented. Curl radius is also studied in detail. Good agreement between experiments and theory is obtained. The results show that tubes which both split and curl may be used as efficient, long stroke energy absorbing devices. 相似文献

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used to determine the effective charge transfer resistances of porous dye-sensitized solar cell counter electrodes prepared by low-temperature spray deposition and compression of conductive carbon and platinized Sb-doped SnO2 powders on indium tin oxide-coated plastic substrates. The charge transfer resistances were 0.5–2 and 8–13 Ω cm2, respectively, when using 3-methoxypropionitrile as the electrolyte solvent. The effect of deformation speed on defect structures introduced into bulk gold specimens at 298 K has been investigated systematically over a wide range of strain rate from ′=10−2 to 106 s−1. As strain rate increased, dislocation structure changed from heterogeneous distribution, so-called cell structure, to random distribution. Also, stacking fault tetrahedra (SFTs) were produced at anomalously high density by deformation at high strain rate. The anomalous production of SFTs observed at high strain rate is consistent with the characteristic microstructure induced by dislocation-free plastic deformation, which has been recently reported in deformation of gold thin foils. Thus, the results of the present study indicate that high-speed deformation induces an abnormal mechanism of plastic deformation, which falls beyond the scope of dislocation theory. Numerical analysis of dislocation structure and SFTs revealed that the transition point of variation of deformation mode is around the strain rate of 103 s−1. 相似文献

This paper presents some results from a totally new and powerful fusion between automated, digital photoelastic techniques and mathematical analysis of a crack experiencing closure. In essence, real-time photoelastic stress field data is acquired and fitted to a Muskhelishvili complex potential model of a loaded crack experiencing closure. The fit entails optimisation of multiple variables via a memetic algorithm, which combines a genetic algorithm and a local search. From observations made in this work, it is proposed that the plastic enclave around a crack tip will shield the crack from the full influence of the applied stress field. Furthermore, the effects of this ‘back stress’ are overcome by the applied tensile load in a way that, often, cannot be readily correlated with crack contact length, wake contact force, or with compliance. 相似文献
