A sample of 229 Turkish international students studying in 17 universities throughout the United States participated in this online study. The main purpose of the study was to investigate acculturative stress based on students' demographics, personality, level of social connectedness, and English language competency. A hierarchical regression analysis indicated that marital status, English language competency, social connectedness, adjustment difficulties, neuroticism, and openness to experience were predictors of acculturative stress. Analysis of variance results showed that acculturative stress did not significantly differ by students' gender or age. 目前我国的计算机教育虽然有很大的发展,但从教材内容和教学计划上看,还是以传统的传授知识为主。教育的目的是培养人才而不仅仅只是传授知识,理工科非计算机专业的计算机基础教育的目的是培养有计算机素质和计算机应用能力的专业人才。因此,让学生在教育中提高计算机素质和计算机应用意识,体验和感悟到计算机应用的本质和方向是计算机基础教育的重点也是我们每个教师的重要任务。  相似文献

This article comments on the importance of competent organizational executive leadership and the practice of executive coaching in professional consultation. As it is currently practiced, executive coaching appears to be an eclectic mix of concepts and methods that are being applied by a variety of consultants who have accepted assignments to work with individual executives. The author concludes by introducing the issue of the Consulting Psychology Journal on executive coaching which reviews literature in the field, identifies current approaches and methods, and provides an opportunity for leading practitioners to describe what they are doing and help define the core concepts and definitions of this emerging competency. In Dusky v. United States (1960), the U.S. Supreme Court articulated 3 abilities that determine a criminal defendant's competence to stand trial: He or she must be able to consult with counsel, have a factual understanding of the proceedings, and have a rational understanding of the proceedings. Although the legal determination of a defendant's competence involves a dichotomous judgment, the latent structures of the constructs that underlie the abilities articulated in Dusky are unknown. The current study focused on the rational understanding prong of the Dusky standard. We hypothesized that, whereas factual knowledge of the legal system and ability to assist counsel may fall on a continuum, plausible (i.e., rational) beliefs about legal proceedings may be dichotomous in nature. Taxometric analyses of the Appreciation scale of the MacArthur Competence Assessment Tool—Criminal Adjudication, with a sample of 721 defendants, provided support for a taxonic structure. 基于造价工程师胜任力的视角,分析胜任力影响因素并构建评价体系和理论模型,结合问卷调查数据,运用结构方程分析造价工程师胜任力的关键影响因素及其对绩效的影响路径。研究表明,专业能力素质对绩效的影响最大,其次是综合管理素质,个人素质主要通过专业能力素质和综合管理素质两个中介变量对绩效产生间接影响。  相似文献

This paper focuses on the supply and demand imbalance from a scientist-practitioner perspective, emphasizing competency development. A conceptual framework, the Stairway Model, illustrates the basic steps leading to emerging professional competence and stimulates research leading to thoughtful solutions to the internship match imbalance. Three immediate recommendations are offered. Doctoral programs should be (a) held accountable for their match rates, and (b) required to publicly disclose program and national match rates. Third, research must be conducted to determine factors that influence match rate and competency development. Concerns with other commonly proposed solutions are also discussed.
