With the context of individualized product design in mass customization, the practice of product configuration is transformed
from traditional unidirectional process into bidirectional design interactions. In this interactive configuration manner,
maintaining the consistency of configuration assignments, often referred to as consistency restoration, is one of the primary
issues which should be addressed. The task of consistency restoration faces two great challenges: the uncertainty and individualized
flexibility of customer requirements. The uncertainty turns problem dynamic and deteriorates the computational complexity
of existing consistency restoration methods. The individualized flexibility turns the task of consistency restoration ill-structured.
Consequently, these two characteristics increase the response time in interactive configuration and make companies face the
challenge of ‘customization-responsiveness squeeze’. To leverage this problem, this paper proposes a responsive approach to
facilitate the task of consistency restoration. A methodology based on content-addressable memory (CAM) is established, which
compiles a CSP-based consistency restoration into a memory recalling process and automatically corrects the incompleteness
and inconsistency within the memory. Specific orientation mechanism based on customer preference is proposed to introduce
customer flexibility into CAM model. The resulting oriented-CAM method is demonstrated by a case study and the performance

Customizing software to perfectly fit individual needs is becoming increasingly important in information systems engineering. Users want to be able to customize software behavior through reference to terms familiar to their diverse needs and experience. We present a requirements-driven approach to behavioral customization of software systems. Goal models are constructed to represent alternative behaviors that users can exhibit to achieve their goals. Customization information is then added to restrict the space of possibilities to those that fit specific users, contexts, or situations. Meanwhile, elements of the goal models are mapped to units of source code. This way, customization preferences posed at the requirements level are directly translated into system customizations. Our approach, which we apply to an on-line shopping cart system and an automated teller machine simulator, does not assume adoption of a particular development methodology, platform, or variability implementation technique and keeps the reasoning computation overhead from interfering with the execution of the configured application. 相似文献

General-purpose processors are often incapable of achieving the challenging cost, performance, and power demands of high-performance applications. To meet these demands, most systems employ a number of hardware accelerators to off-load the computationally demanding portions of the application. As an alternative to this strategy, we examine customizing the computation capabilities of a processor for a particular application. The processor is extended with hardware in the form of a set of custom function units and instruction set extensions. To effectively identify opportunities for creating custom hardware, a dataflow graph design space exploration engine heuristically identifies candidate computation subgraphs without artificially constraining their size or shape. The engine combines estimates of performance gain, cost, and inherent limitations of the processor to grow candidate graphs in profitable directions while pruning unprofitable paths. With growing reliance on modeling in product development, it is imperative to describe product families in a cohesive way. In particular, mass customization calls for a close integration of product life cycle from customer recognition to delivery and services. This paper proposes a triple-view scheme for modeling product families. Technical challenges are discussed by comparing product family modeling with modeling single products. Individual modeling formalisms for different views are discussed.
