NUMERICAL ANALYSIS AND EXPERI- MENT OF UNSTEADY THERMAL FIELD OF ROTOR PLATE FOR EDDY CURRENT RETARDER

The physical model based on heat transfer theory and virtual boundary method for analyzing unsteady thermal field of rotor plate for eddy current retarder used in automobile is established and boundary conditions are also defined. The finite element governing equation is derived by Galerkin method. The time differential item is discrete based on Galerkin format that is stable at any condition. And a new style of varying time step method is used in iteration process. The thermal field on the rotor plate at the radial and axle directions is analyzed and varying temperature at appointed points on two side-surfaces is measured. The testing and analytical data are uniform approximately. Finite element method can be used for estimating thermal field of the rotor plate at initial design stage of eddy current retarder.

对传统双曲线极尖的四极透镜进行了磁性能分析。在此基础上，提出了极尖断面为折线的四极透镜结构。磁场的数值分析以及测量结果表明：该结构产生的场梯度均匀，且具有磁场集中、磁场梯度高、便于加工和安装的对称性控制等优点。该结构的四极透镜已用于ＣＹＣＩＡＥ－３０回旋加速器和ＨＩ－１３串列加速器束流输运线之中

本文报道了一种新型的大动态范围，多叠层探测器系统组件之一的纵向电场气体电离室的构造，性能和在中能得离子核反应实验中的应用。     

A survey of nitrate and nitrite content of fruit and vegetables grown in Slovenia during 1996-2002

Monitoring of nitrate (NO₃^-) and nitrite (NO₂^-) content in agricultural products in Slovenia has been carried out since 1996. The results of monitoring over the period 1996-2002 are presented. During this time 924 samples of 14 different agricultural products (potato, lettuce, apples, carrot, silage maize, cabbage, grapes, peaches, string beans, cereals, pears, cucumbers, strawberries and tomato) were analysed. The samples were taken at the time of maturity directly from growing sites and they were analysed using segmented flow analysis. The average nitrate contents were the highest in lettuce (1074 mg kg^-1), cabbage (881 mg kg^-1), string beans (298 mg kg^-1) and carrot (264 mg kg^-1), and they were moderately high in potato (158 mg kg^-1), silage maize (122 mg kg^-1), strawberries (94 mg kg^-1), cucumbers (93 mg kg^-1) and cereals (49 mg kg^-1). Low nitrate contents (below 6 mg kg^-1) were found in fruit (grapes, peaches, apples and pears) and tomato. With the exception of cereals (8.9 mg kg^-1), apples (1.5 mg kg^-1), potato (1.2 mg kg^-1) and pears (1.0 mg kg^-1) the content of nitrites did not exceed 0.5 mg kg^-1. It may be concluded that the results of the monitoring were in most cases similar to the results of investigations obtained in other countries.     

An algebraic method for processing colored images

An 8-valued commutative ring is developed to process colored images. Algebraic operators are defined to perform a number of operations such as the extraction of the primary colors and contours of different colors.

锥形凸台成形的一种叠加滑移线场力学模型

分析了锥形凸台在不同体积成形工艺中的成形机理，基于模块化思想将锥形凸台的成形过程划分为挤压成形与角部充满两个特征时段；将上述两个特征时段的滑移线场力学模型有机联结，构建了锥形凸台成形过程的一种叠加滑移线场力学模型；介绍了叠加滑移线场力学模型的应力场与变形力的求解方法。该模型丰富了金属体积成形过程的特征单元库，可套用于局部成形的应力场与变形力求解，实现局部成形的模具优化设计。

Barriers to Increased Engineering Graduate Enrollments: Counterforces and Their Implementation

This paper highlights the role of the faculty member in recruiting students currently enrolled in B.S. programs in engineering and the sciences into full-time pursuit of a graduate-level engineering degree. The faculty member is demonstrated to be in a unique position to influence such students, providing strong counterforces to a confluence of attitudes and pressures experienced during the B.S. experience which effectively create a barrier to full-time engineering graduate study. We analyze this barrier via the method of force field analysis, and demonstrate that effective recruitment into full-time graduate study must be based on a four-fold strategy of education, expectations, improved B.S. experience and better control of the B.S. environment. Approaches to implement these strategies are discussed.
