Finnish general contracting in the USSR

When dealing with a Soviet client, tendering, scheduling, consideration of available resources, management responsibilities, start-up and hand-over must be approached from a slightly different angle than when dealing with Western clients. Aspects of project management from feasibility analysis to hand-over are described, based on the experience of a Finnish general contractor, Finn Stroi.     

EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES AND NUMERICAL CALCULATION ON TURBULENT BOUNDARY LAYER OF WATER FLOW ALONG CURVED SURFACE

This paper will introduce experimental studies and numerical calculation onturbulent boundary layer of water flow along curved surface in our country in recent years.Onthe basis of the experimental studies,the effects of curvature and roughness on velocitydistribution and pressure distribution and the change of turbulent flow boundary layer onoverflow bucket concave surface is discussed.We proposed the empirical formula of velocity,pressure and the change of turbulent flow boundary layer on outlet bucket concave.According tothe momentum principle,we have deduced the momentum integral equation full water depthboundary layer and using the element as control unit inside the boundary layer on concavesurface of bucket.Combining with continuity equation,we have computed the boundary layerdevelopment on the bucket of a spillway.Compared with the field experimental data,thecalculation results are available.Under polar coordinates,a mathematical model for simulatingtime-averaged flow characteristics in concave surface of bucket is established.The turbulent flowfield on concave surface of bucket is calculated by SIMPLE method and this mathematicalmodel.The flow velocity field,pressure field,distribution of turbulent kinetic energy,distribution of turbulent energy dissipating rate and distribution of shear stress are available.Thecalculation value is consistent with measured test data.     

茂金属催化剂气相法聚乙烯中试研究

我国自行开发的茂金属催化剂在气相法聚乙烯中试装置上进行了运行试验和性能试验。考察了茂金属催化剂ＡＰＥ－１的运行稳定性和适应性以及聚合反应条件与催化剂活性、产品熔融流动性能和产品密度的关联性。经过测定，试验所得产品的相对分子质量分布特性与国外同类产品相近。     

DSS research and practice in perspective

The aim of this paper is to assess the state-of-the-art in the Decision Support Systems (DSS) field from both a research and a practice perspective. Three main dimensions of DSS research and practice are addressed: 1) supporting human decision-making processes, 2) integrating DSS into the organizational context, and 3) identifying new application domains. The related analysis and discussion provides a better understanding of past developments in the DSS field and insights into future evolution patterns.     

中国先进研究堆导流箱流场的数值模拟

采用目前国内普遍使用的计算流体力学 (CFD)软件PHOENICS 3 2对中国先进研究堆不同结构的导流箱的三维流场进行数值模拟计算。结果表明 :导流箱入口导流板和导流筒能显著改善导流箱入口冷却剂的流动状况 ,获得入口冷却剂沿周向均匀分流的效果 ,达到显著减缓入口冷却剂对垂直辐照孔道导管及安全棒导管直接的横向水力冲刷的设计目的     

Solar assisted cooling with sorption systems: status of the research in Mexico and Latin America

Solar refrigeration projects both national and international with sorption and other refrigeration systems have been developed in Mexico and other Latin American countries in the last 15 years. A review of the main projects, both for solar cooling and refrigeration and the results obtained are presented in this paper. A methodology where 19 solar technologies for cooling were identified is also presented. Although solar cooling is still not an economically viable technology, the advances made and the experience gained in the projects described and the improved systems envisaged, will make solar refrigeration systems play an important role in the future.     

Information systems effectiveness: research designs for causal inference

Abstract. This paper examines the capacity of the research designs of 37 empirical studies of information systems (IS) effectiveness to provide a basis for the development of theories about behaviour related to IS effectiveness. The power of each study to support causal inference was evaluated in terms of (a) its handling of the time dimension, (b) its ability to weigh differences and (c) its resistance to internal validity threats that pose alternative explanations for its reported findings. Of the reviewed studies, 29.7% could account for the time dimension, 32.4% employed a comparison group and 16.2% were not susceptible to any internal validity threats. Only 13.5% of the studies combined an accounting for the time dimension with the use of a comparison group. Of these, however, only 5.4% were also invulnerable to internal validity threats. The research designs of nearly 95% of these published studies were deficient in supporting causal inference. In those studies, suggestions that one variable was causally related to another variable could not be substantiated. Encouragement for the future capacity of IS effectiveness research to support causal inference was found in a trend towards the use of quasiexperimental designs. Recommendations are made regarding ways to increase the inferential capacity of research designs employed in the study of IS effectiveness.     

Measurements of Stress Intensity Factors of an Interface Crack Under Mixed Mode Loading

The optical method of caustics has been utilised to measure both the stress intensity factor for a crack lying along the interface of an aluminium/epoxy bimaterial specimen, and the mode mixity arising from the difference in the elastic properties across the interface. Measurements were carried out by using a novel modification to the method whereby caustics are produced and measured from both sides of the specimen, so compensating automatically for the distortion induced in the specimen due to misaligned loading fixtures. A flat reflective surface across the interface was obtained by adhering a reflective coating to the specimen. Verification that this coating does not affect measurement accuracy was obtained by comparing stress intensity factors measured from coated and uncoated monolithic aluminium specimens where good agreement was found to exist between both measurements.     

水泥膨胀珍珠岩砂浆的保温试验研究与应用

荆江分洪北闸加固工程２号护坦（斜面）混凝土的保温层采用了水泥膨胀珍珠岩砂浆，并对这种材料的保温效果进行了试验研究。试验表明：水泥膨胀珍珠岩砂浆降低最高温差，减小内表温差，缩小表温变幅和防止混凝土表面裂缝效果显著。在北闸２号护坦混凝土表面铺设１万平方米保温层，获得良好效果。
