Charpy impact tests were conducted at different temperatures and loading rates. Temperature dependences of the crack initiation and propagation energies were determined for carbon steel 45, steels St. 3 and 15Kh2NMFA from the load-time curves obtained with due account of the impact test results. Based on the experimental results of Part I of present work, this paper describes results of FEM calculations and analyses in details which identified that the effect of tensile-warm pre-stressing (WPS) on improvement of the apparent toughness of notched specimens results from three factors i.e. the residual compressive stress, macroscopic blunting of the original notch, and prestrain-deactivating cleavage initiation. The effects of three factors are separated and is effective for each at various extents of prestressing specified with a prestress-ratio, P0/Pgy, defining the prestressing load P0 as a fraction of general yield load Pgy. For values of prestress-ratio lower than 1.0, the residual compressive stress acts as the main factor. Between 1.0 to 1.5 of prestress-ratio values, in addition to the residual compressive stress the macroscopic blunting plays increasing role. The effect of the prestrain-deactivating cleavage initiation presents at the prestress-ratio P0/Pgy1.2. In the case of compressive-warm prestressing, the apparent toughness is deteriorated due to the residual tensile stress. The effects of complex cycles of WPS, with various steps of loading and unloading different in signs, are determined mainly by the loading step just before the fracturing step.  相似文献

In the paper the main goals and progress of the surveillance specimen programme for the RPVs WWER-440/213 in Jaslovské Bohunice V-2 and Mochovce NPPs are presented. At Jaslovské Bohunice V-2, the standard surveillance specimen programme (SSSP) was finished and so-called ‘Extended Surveillance Specimen Programme’ (ESSP) was prepared on the base of its critical analysis. For first two units of the Mochovce NPP completely new programmes of irradiation embrittlement monitoring called ‘Modern Surveillance Specimen Programme’ is prepared. It is based on the experience with SSSP and ESSP as well as the recommendations of IAEA experts. This programme will serve for Mochovce NPP during all planned service life. The experience of ESSP application on the 3rd and 4th units in Jaslovské Bohunice V-2 NPP are presented in the paper too.  相似文献

In this paper, instrumented impact test results obtained using V-notch and precracked Charpy specimens of AISI 308 weld and AISI 316 stainless steels are analysed for determining the plastic -factor for three-point bend specimens used in J-integral evaluation. Tested 316 stainless steel specimens were in various thermal aging/cold-work conditions whereas 308 weld specimens were in the as-welded condition. The results are analysed using the various procedures proposed in the literature and compared with experimental and finite element results reported in the literature. Based on our analysis, two polynomial expressions of a/W for pl are presented: one gives a sort of upper-bound in the a/W range 0.05–1.0 while the other gives conservative values (i.e., use of this results in J-R curves and J sufficiently conservative for engineering purposes). Both provide a smooth variation of pl over the entire a/W range unlike some of the expressions given in the literature which show a discontinuous change at an intermediate a/W.  相似文献

We propose an experimental-theoretical engineering procedure for assessing the strength of butt-welded joints using the force (KIc) and strain (c) criteria of the brittle and quasibrittle fracture mechanics, respectively. For this purpose, beam specimens with square and bevel welds and an initial edge crack or notch in the weld metal are tested under three-point bending. The parameter KImax controlling fracture of a bent beam with an inclined (Mode I + Mode II) crack is assessed taking into account the values of the stress intensity factors KI and KII, and the crack inclination angle *. We also studied the plastic zone at the crack tip and the crack propagation kinetics depending on the weld geometry and the V-notch tip radius for butt-welded joints. The data obtained allow one to rate such joints by their strength according to the fracture toughness criteria KIc and c.  相似文献

The load dependence of the Vickers microhardness of SrLaAlO4 and SrLaGaO4 single crystals, using a PMT-3 hardness tester, has been investigated and analysed from the standpoint of various theoretical models. On the (100) and (001) planes of these crystals, reverse indentation size effect was observed. Analysis of the experimental data revealed: (1) the indentation size effect is best described by Meyer's law and the proportional specimen resistance model of Li and Bradt, (2) indentation-induced cracking model for reverse indentation size effect and Meyer's law cannot be used to determine the hardness of the crystals, (3) as shown by the negative values of the load-dependent quantities in Hays-Kendall's approach and Li-Bradt model, the origin of indentation size effect is associated with the processes of relaxation of indentation stresses, and (4) the load-dependent and load-independent quantities of different models are interrelated and are intimately connected with the orientation and chemical composition of the crystals. It was also found that the plots of the ratio of indentation load to indentation diagonal against indentation diagonal for a sample exhibit two different slopes with a transition in the slopes occurring at an indentation diagonal, whose value depends on the indenter orientation, indented plane and chemical composition of the crystals. The physical significance of the appearance of these transitions and the nature of load-independent indentation microhardness are discussed. Electronic Publication  相似文献

Stress intensity factors for half‐elliptical surface cracks at a semi‐circular notch in a recently developed single‐edge notch bend specimen are determined for a wide range of geometrical parameters using a three‐dimensional weight function method. Two load cases of pin loading and uniform remote tension are considered. The results are in good agreement with abaqus/franc3d finite element analysis. It is found that the Ziegler–Newman engineering similitude approach (programmed into the Fatigue Crack Growth Structural Analysis life‐prediction code) produces good results for a wide range in a/c ratios. Expressions by multi‐variable curve fitting to the weight function results are presented for easy engineering applications.  相似文献

Extensive finite element analyses have been conducted to obtain solutions of the A-term, which is the second parameter in three-term elastic-plastic asymptotic expansion, for test specimens. Three mode I crack plane-strain test specimens, i.e. single edge cracked plate (SECP), center cracked plate (CCP) and double edge cracked plate (DECP) were studied. The crack geometries analyzed included shallow to deep cracks. Solutions of A-term were obtained for material following the Ramberg-Osgood power law with hardening exponent of n = 3, 4, 5, 7 and 10. Remote tension loading was applied which covers from small-scale to large-scale yielding. Based on the finite element results, empirical equations to predict the A-terms under small-scale yielding (SSY) to large-scale yielding conditions were developed. In addition, by using the relationships between A and other commonly used second fracture parameters such as Q factor and A2-term, the present solutions can be used to calculate parameters A2 and Q as well. The results presented in the paper are suitable to calculate the second elastic-plastic fracture parameters for test specimens for a wide range of crack geometries, material strain hardening behaviors and loading conditions.  相似文献
