Barrier properties of packaging materials against moisture and oxygen penetration are of high relevance. Enhanced protection of existing materials against weather conditions can be achieved by application of printed coatings. To improve barrier performance of packaging materials, new inks for obtaining printed coatings with a layered structure were developed and investigated. The proposed ink compositions for flexographic printing on paper substrates are based on an environmentally friendly acrylic binder and contain inorganic fillers with platelet particles incorporated in the polymer matrix. Coatings based on the developed printing inks demonstrate significantly decreased water vapour permeability compared to traditional polymer inks. The effect of decreased permeability was investigated considering inks rheological behaviour, the coating structure, mechanical properties, surface energy and water uptake for different ink formulations. The developed inks provide variable optical properties including coatings with a relatively high transparency. The development of the functional barrier inks contributes to saving natural resources by prolonging life performance of packaging materials and goods.  相似文献

Waterborne polyacrylate/poly(silicone‐co‐acrylate) emulsions were synthesized to develop coated fertilizers. The effects of the n‐butyl acrylate (BA)/methyl methacrylate (MMA) ratio, vinyltriethoxysilane, and synthesis method on the water resistance, glass‐transition temperature, mechanical properties, and nutrient‐release profiles were investigated. The results show that miniemulsion polymerization with a BA/MMA ratio of 55:45 was the most suitable for slow nutrient‐release applications. Under these conditions, the preliminary solubility rate of the nutrient was about 3%, and the 30‐day cumulative nutrient release was 15% at 25°C. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. The modified polypropylene (PP) separators with self‐polymerization of dopamine on the surfaces are prepared by a simple solution‐immersion method to improve the interfacial hydrophilic and discharge performance. The contact angle test and the liquid electrolyte uptake capacity test results show that the wettability and the electrolyte‐retention ability of polydopamine‐modified separator are improved significantly. The robust and thin polydopamine layer on the surface also enhances thermal performance and tensile strength of the modified PP separator certified by DSC and tensile strength tests. The ionic conductivity of the modified PP separator is up to 3.08 mS·cm?1, ~2.5 times of the bare separator. Good discharge capacity retention and C‐rate discharge performance are demonstrated by a 2025 coin half‐cell with the liquid electrolyte‐soaked polydopamine modified PP separator sandwiched between lithium metal anode and LiFePO4 cathode. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, the feasibility of preparing chlorinated ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (CEVA) in gas–solid phase is investigated. Furthermore, the structure of the chlorination product and its performance as a coating material are also analyzed. Both the molecular structure and crystallinity of the product are well studied with various characterization methods, including 1H‐NMR, Fourier transform infrared, gel permeation chromatography, differential scanning calorimeter, and so forth. The results show that the chlorination of EVA in gas–solid phase is feasible and the chlorine content of CEVA can be made over 60%. It is also found that when the chlorine content is low, chlorination can easily occur in ethylene section but rarely happens in vinyl acetate section. Nevertheless, when the chlorine content of CEVA rises over 35%, ? CH in the vinyl acetate section is also found chlorinated. The removal of hydrogen chloride is induced during chlorination, producing double bonds in the main chain. Besides, the trace of ? CCl2 structure can also be found in the chain of CEVA. After chlorination, the crystallization will change and is negatively correlated with chlorine content. In this study, the effects of different oxygen‐containing group contents in thermally reduced graphene oxides (TRGs) for enhancing the physical properties of epoxy nancomposites was examined. The epoxy/TRG nanocomposites (ETNs) were prepared by a room temperature curing method in the presence of TRGs containing different oxygen‐containing groups and were then characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. TRG contents with higher oxygen‐containing group contents (ca 33%) were found to show better dispersion capability in the epoxy matrix than TRGs with lower oxygen‐containing group contents (ca 11%) based on morphological observations by transmission electron microscopy. The better dispersion capability of TRGs with higher oxygen‐containing group contents in ETN membranes was found to lead to significantly enhanced mechanical strength, thermal stability and thermal conductivity based on measurements of dynamic mechanical analysis, tensile tests, thermogravimetric analysis and by the transient plane source technique. © 2014 The Authors. A novel melamine-based hyperbranched polyphosphonate acrylate (MHPA), successfully synthesized via the Michael addition polymerization of 2-(2-amino-ethylamino)-4,6-bisethylamino-1,3,5-triazine with tri(acryloyloxyethyl) phosphate, was blended with the epoxy acrylate (EA) to prepare UV-cured flame retardant coatings. The study of their flammability revealed that MHPA can improve the flame retardancy and the sample with 45 wt% MHPA (EA3) showed a good intumescent behavior when combusted. The results of their thermal degradation displayed that MHPA had a dual effect on the thermal stability of EA: leading to its earlier degradation catalyzed by acidic species from the relatively weak phosphorus-bearing parts, but improving the thermal stability of the char layer at high temperature due to the formed intumescent phosphorus–carbon compounds. Besides, the total release amount of gas products of EA3 was much lower than that of pure EA and various flammable gases like hydrocarbons and highly toxic CO were also reduced  相似文献
