The main aim of this work was to study the effects of particle size, particle volume fraction, and matrix strength on the long fatigue crack growth resistance of two different grades of Al alloys (Al2124-T1 and Al6061-T1) reinforced with SiC particles. Basically, it was found that an increase in particle volume fraction and particle size increases the fatigue crack growth resistance at near threshold and Paris regimen, with matrix strength having a smaller effect. Near final failure, the stronger and more brittle composites are affected more by static modes of failure as the applied maximum stress intensity factor (K max) approaches mode I plane strain fracture toughness (K IC).  相似文献

High cycle fatigue behaviour of Ti–6Al–4V alloy was studied at 623 K and 723 K. Fatigue strength decreased at elevated temperatures compared with at ambient temperature. In the short life regime, fatigue strength was lower at 723 K than at 623 K, but in the long life regime it was nearly the same at both temperatures. At elevated temperatures, cracks were generated earlier at applied stresses below the fatigue limit at ambient temperature, indicating lowered crack initiation resistance. Small cracks grew faster at elevated temperatures than at ambient temperature, which became more noticeable with increasing temperature. After allowing for the elastic modulus, small cracks still grew faster at elevated temperatures.  相似文献

The main goal of this work was to evaluate the effectiveness of Walker’s equation in collapsing the fatigue crack propagation data of a SAE AMS 7475-T7351 aluminum alloy loaded either longitudinally (L-T) or transversely (T-L) to the rolling direction. T-L orientation testpieces presented lower ductility and fracture toughness values than L-T orientation. As a consequence, during the fatigue crack propagation tests, T-L testpieces exhibited a stronger influence of monotonic modes of fracture, resulting in higher Paris exponent values,m. Walker’s model was able to collapse fatigue crack propagation data of L-T test pieces at different applied stress ratios,R. However, for the T-L orientation, due to theR ratio dependency onm andC, simply averaging ofm values for the calculations of Walker’s exponent proved to be inefficient. A simple analytical procedure was proposed by the authors to modify Walker’s model to take into account such effect. For T-L test pieces, when Walker’s model is modified by considering both Paris’s exponent as well the coefficient as a function of theR ratio, the fatigue crack growth data collapses within a narrow band, thus allowing predictions to be made satisfactorily. The collapsed band is even narrower if the empirical relationm=a+blogC is used instead of simple polynomial equations due to a better correlation coefficient.  相似文献

The deposition of titanium on a titanium alloy substrate is being examined for potential use as a surface treatment for medical prostheses. A Ti6Al4V alloy was coated with pure titanium by cold gas dynamic spraying. Coatings were deposited onto samples with two different surface preparation methods (as-received and grit-blasted). The fatigue life of the as-received and grit-blasted materials, both before and after coating, was measured with a rotating-bend fatigue rig. A 15% reduction in fatigue endurance limit was observed after application of the coating to the as-received substrate, but no significant reduction was observed on its application to the grit-blasted substrate. The reduction in fatigue endurance limit has been related to the substrate-coating interface properties, the elastic modulus, and the residual stress states. 采用GH4169缺口试件在650 ℃下进行了高温拉扭疲劳断裂试验,利用ANSYS 6 1 有限元分析软件计算试件缺口周围的应力应变场,确定出试件在各种载荷状况下的应力集中系数。计算结果表明,该有限元建模方式是合理的,为以后缺口件的寿命预测过程奠定了基础。  相似文献

在自制弯曲疲劳装置上 ,对 3种高强对位芳纶及超高相对分子质量聚乙烯纤维 (Dyneema SK65 )进行双面弯曲疲劳试验。结果表明 ,Twaron 2 0 0 0弯曲疲劳寿命的自然对数与预加应力、弯曲角度呈线性关系 ,Dyneema SK65弯曲疲劳寿命明显长于对位芳纶 ,Twaron 2 0 0 0 ,Kevlar 12 9相近 ,都比Kevlar 2 9略长 ;高强型对位芳纶的弯曲疲劳断裂断口芯层呈现出“毛笔头”或“拔丝形”原纤化分裂形态 ,超高相对分子质量聚乙烯纤维弯曲疲劳断裂断口有明显的脆性折断形态 ,无原纤出现。  相似文献
