Effect of Rare Earth Element Cerium on Mechanical Properties and Morphology of TiN Coating Prepared by Arc Ion Plating

TiN coatings were deposited on polished substrates of W18Cr4V high speed steel by means of vacuum arc ion plating. The effect of cerium on adhesion between TiN coating and substrate was studied. The microstructures and composition of TiN coatings were also investigated by means of scanning electron microscope (SEM), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. It was found that cerium is an effective modifying agent and the addition of suitable amount of cerium to TiN coatings can produce relatively excellent properties such as micro-hardness, wear resistance, oxidation resistance and porosity. The experimental results show that the added cerium in TiN coatings makesa contribution to form the preferred direction along with a (111 ) or (222) close packed face, which may be one of the reasons that improves some properties mentioned above.

The effects of attrition on baseline comparability in randomized experiments in education: A meta-analysis.

Using meta-analysis, randomized experiments in education that either clearly did or clearly did not experience student attrition were examined for the baseline comparability of groups. Results from 35 studies suggested that after attrition, the observed measures of baseline comparability of groups did not differ more than would be expected given sampling error. The degree of either overall or differential attrition did not relate to baseline comparability, a finding that held under sensitivity analyses. Also, both overall and differential attrition rates were unrelated to posttest effect sizes. All of these analyses, however, lacked sufficient statistical power to detect small but potentially meaningful effects. Results suggest caution is warranted when applying quality scales and other blanket rules pertaining to attrition that are meant to either serve as inclusion-exclusion criteria or in scoring study quality. Much greater attention is needed to both the reporting of attrition in primary studies and to the development of conceptual and empirical models of the attrition process. These options can range from waiting until more definitive information is available to enacting regulatory standards, with many variations in between. This paper presents some of the factors policy-makers must consider in establishing indoor air quality policies, and the role researchers should play in ensuring that indoor air policies are based on the best available scientific information.     

套管固井质量问题及对策分析

从油田现场反应的情况出发，对调整井固井，尾管固井，大位移井套管固井和其他固井的质量问题进行了分析，针对各种问题产生的原因，提出了相应换解决办法。     

化学镀Ni-P合金/TiO2复合膜的耐蚀性研究

在改进常规制备方法的基础上，提出化学镀/溶胶-凝胶复合法在碳钢表面制备TiO2复合膜的新技术。用衍射研究了复合膜的组织形态，采用环境扫描电镜（ESEM）表征了复合膜的表观和断面形貌，用极化电阻、阳极极化曲线测量等方法研究TiO2复合膜在0.5mol/L硫酸和0.5mol/L氯化钠溶液中的耐蚀性能。结果表明A3钢表面的TiO2复合膜耐蚀性能优良。     

电沉积Ni-W合金镀层的X射线光电子能谱分析

采用X射线光电子能谱（XPS）对电沉积Ni-W合金镀层表面膜进行了分析。研究结果表明，Ni-W合金镀层表面存在一层薄的氧化膜，而钨的氧化作用远大于镍，Ni-W合金镀层中W含量的提高对耐蚀性起决定作用。
