Temporal References and Temporal Relations in Sentence Comprehension.

The author investigated the interpretation of temporal references during comprehension of sentences containing a main and subordinate clause. Experiments 1 and 2 examined state and event subordinate clauses, respectively, and showed that subordinate temporal references overlapping with or close to the time of the main clause event were read faster than nonoverlapping distant references. Experiment 3 examined temporal references in nonsubordinate main clauses and confirmed that temporal relations between main and subordinate clauses were established on-line in the previous experiments. Experiment 4 independently manipulated temporal overlap and distance and suggested that event and state clauses are processed according to distinct temporal parameters. References for fragmentation analysis of the rural matrix in cultural landscapes

Next to the problem of fragmented nature, also the fragmentation of the rural matrix in rapidly changing cultural landscapes deserves attention. Because of the multifunctionality of these landscapes, a reflection is needed about the references for fragmentation analysis and interpretation. Flanders (Belgium) is taken as pilot area because of its high degree of urbanisation, road development and intensity of land use. Fragmentation analysis is based on deliberate selections of relevant land use systems in the first place, next on the explicit definition of some past, planned or idealistic reference condition. Differencing or rationing actual and reference landscape structure indicators yields fragmentation maps with enhanced interpretation possibilities for landscape and spatial planning.

Symbolic Communication Set Generation for Irregular Parallel Applications

Communication set generation significantly influences the performance of parallel programs. However, studies seldom give attention to the problem of communication set generation for irregular applications. In this paper, we propose communication optimization techniques for the situation of irregular array references in nested loops. In our methods, the local array distribution schemes are determined so that the total number of communication messages is minimized. Then, we explain how to support communication set generation at compile-time by introducing some symbolic analysis techniques. In our symbolic analysis, symbolic solutions of a set of symbolic expression are obtained by using certain restrictions. We introduce symbolic analysis algorithms to obtain the solutions in terms of a set of equalities and inequalities. Finally, experimental results on a parallel computer CM-5 are presented to validate our approach.     

Digital redesign of observer-based output-feedback tracking controllers: enhancement

Digital redesign for observer-based output-feedback tracking controller with time-varying references is developed. The improvements have been done by more precisely approximating the reference and considering the state matching of the estimation error in a plant dynamics for a large sampling period, and by using the delta-operated discrete-time modelling for an extremely small sampling period.     

抽象语义引导的空指针引用自动修复

程序依赖图往往只能根据语句中变量的定义使用关系来判定数据依赖而无法从语义上精准判断,从而容易引入虚假依赖关系,使得缺陷修复的过程中使用错误信息造成修复失败.因此,本文将利用抽象属性对与空对象或空指针有关的虚假依赖进行剪枝,提出基于抽象语义的程序依赖图减少与程序缺陷语义无关的依赖关系分析,以完成空指针引用修复.依据分析获取的依赖关系,在空指针引用的不同修复策略的指导下实现一种多策略的修复方案,在尽可能减小修复副作用的前提下完成空指针引用缺陷的修复.本文利用Defects4J中的空指针引用对实现的修复工具DTSFix进行实验评估,结果显示DTSFix的修复效果远远高于对比工具,证明了方法的有效性.
