Response of maleHeliothis subflexa to pheromone-baited traps containing blends of tetradecanal, (Z)-9-tetradecanal, hexadecanal, (Z)-7-hexadecenal, (Z)-9-hexadecenal, (Z)-11-hexadecenal, hexadecan-1-ol acetate, (Z)-7-hexadecen-1-ol acetate, (Z)-9-hexadecen-1-ol acetate, (Z)-11-hexadecen-1-ol acetate, (Z)-9-hexadecen-1-ol, and (Z)-11-hexadecen-1-ol was evaluated. Analysis of trap capture data indicated that (Z)-11-hexadecen-1-ol was a critical component of the pheromone blend. It was determined from emission rate data and measurements of the ratio of pheromone components emitted from rubber septa tested that a significant increase in trap capture of maleH. subflexa occurred when the blends investigated released the alcohol in a narrow range relative to the total amount of pheromone emitted. The optimum range of release ratio of the alcohol for the capture of males in sticky traps was determined to be 0.9–3.5% of the pheromone blend. This release ratio range was reduced to 0.9–1.6% when bucket traps were used. 相似文献

Three lipases, isolated previously in our laboratory, and a known lipase fromCandida cylindracea were screened for the enrichment of arachidonic acid (AA). The enzyme fromC. cylindracea was the most effective for the production of oil with high concentration of AA. When a single-cell oil fromMortierella alpina, containing 25% AA, was hydrolyzed with this lipase for 16 h at 35°C, the resulting glycerides contained 50% AA at 52% hydrolysis.
After this, no further hydrolysis occurred, even with additional lipase. However, when the glycerides were extracted from
the hydrolyzate and were hydrolyzed again with new lipase, the resulting oil contained 60% AA, with a recovery of 75% of its
initial AA content. Triglycerides were the main components of the resulting oil. The release of each fatty acid from the oil
depended on the hydrolysis rate of its ester. The fatty acid, whose ester is the poorest substrate for the enzyme, is concentrated

Selective inhibition of the immunoproteasome is a promising approach towards the development of immunomodulatory drugs. Recently, a class of substituted thiazole compounds that combine a nonpeptidic scaffold with the absence of an electrophile was reported in a patent. Here, we investigated the mode of action of the lead compound by using a sophisticated chimeric yeast model of the human immunoproteasome for structural studies. Although the medial temporal lobe (MTL) is known to be essential for episodic encoding, the contributions of individual MTL subregions remain unclear. Data from recognition memory studies have provided evidence that the hippocampus supports relational encoding important for later episodic recollection, whereas the perirhinal cortex has been linked with encoding that supports later item familiarity. However, extant data also strongly implicate the perirhinal cortex in object processing and encoding, suggesting that perirhinal processes may contribute to later episodic recollection of object source details. To investigate this possibility, encoding activation in MTL subregions was analyzed on the basis of subsequent memory outcome while participants processed novel scenes paired with 1 of 6 repeating objects. Specifically, encoding activation correlating with later successful scene recognition memory was evaluated against that of source recollection for the object paired with the scene during encoding. In contrast to studies reporting a link between perirhinal cortex and item familiarity, it was found that encoding activation in the right perirhinal cortex correlates with successful recollection of the paired object. Furthermore, other MTL subregions also exhibited content-specific source encoding patterns of activation, suggesting that MTL subsequent memory effects are sensitive to stimulus category. Mining of phospholipase D (PLD) with altered acyl group recognition except its head group specificity is also useful in terms of specific acyl size phospholipid production and as diagnostic reagents for quantifying specific phospholipid species. Microbial PLDs from Actinomycetes, especially Streptomyces, best fit this process requirements. In the present studies, a new PLD from marine Streptomyces klenkii (SkPLD) was purified and biochemically characterized. The optimal reaction temperature and pH of SkPLD were determined to be 60 °C and 8.0, respectively. Kinetic analysis showed that SkPLD had the relatively high catalytic efficiency toward phosphatidylcholines (PCs) with medium acyl chain length, especially 12:0/12:0-PC (67.13 S−1 mM−1), but lower catalytic efficiency toward PCs with long acyl chain (>16 fatty acids). Molecular docking results indicated that the different catalytic efficiency was related to the increased steric hindrance of long acyl-chains in the substrate-binding pockets and differences in hydrogen-bond interactions between the acyl chains and substrate-binding pockets. The enzyme displayed suitable transphosphatidylation activity and the reaction process showed 26.18% yield with L-serine and soybean PC as substrates. The biochemical properties of Escherichia coli thioesterase I, His-tagged (HT) on the C-terminal, were systematically analyzed and compared with that without the His-tag
(WT). These two types of enzymes exhibit similar optimal temperature and pH dependence, but subtle differences were detected.
Kinetic studies revealed that the k

m values of the HT enzyme for the substrates palmitoyl-CoA and p-nitrophenyl dodecanoate were 36- and 10-fold lower than those of the WT, respectively. In contrast, HT had a fivefold increased
catalytic efficiency for p-nitrophenyl acetate, and up to fourfold increases toward phenylalanine- and tyrosine-derived ester substrates, l-NBPNPE (N-carbobenzoxy-l-phenylalanine p-nitrophenyl ester) and l-NBTNPE (N-carbobenzoxyl-l-tyrosine p-nitrophenyl ester), respectively. For l-NBPNPE and l-NBTNPE, the increases were attributed to the higher k
cat values with little changes in K
