Precision associated with determination of dirt content of natural rubber

The precision associated with determination of dirt in natural rubber is low even when similar testing procedures are applied. All measurements leading to this estimation involve the use of an analytical balance. For this reason the contribution of associated errors to the ultimate precision of dirt measurements was evaluated using analytical balances of varying degrees of precision. A mathematical model was proposed to estimate the compound standard error associated with dirt measurements, which was found to be ±0.001 mg. This signifies that, during dirt assay, the masses of test portions, empty sieves, and sieves containing dirt must be estimated to at least 3 significant figures. This error would further decrease with an increase in the quantity of dirt assayed. Prolonged maturation of coagula reduced the length of rubber chains, thus increasing the ease of dissolution of test portions during dirt analysis. Higher molar mass samples were mostly associated with poor reproducibility of dirt and macrogel content determinations. Increasing the mass of test portions improved the precision of dirt measurements, though the recommended sizes of these portions should be a compromise of economic considerations and practical testing conditions. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 低浓度六价铬样品回收率测定中加标量问题的探讨

通过对大量低浓度环境样品六价铬的加标回收率测定表明：加标量控制在方法测定下限的4倍时，加标回收率样品能达到100％合格，加标量在测定下限的3倍时，合格率可达85．7％，如果加标量过低，则很难达到合格要求。     

Leveling the playing field of transportation fuels: Accounting for indirect emissions of natural gas

Natural gas transportation fuels are credited in prior studies with greenhouse gas emissions savings relative to petroleum-based fuels and relative to the total emissions of biofuels. These analyses, however, overlook a source of potentially large indirect emissions from natural gas transportation fuels, namely the emissions from incremental coal-fired generation caused by price-induced substitutions away from natural-gas-fired electricity generation. Because coal-fired generation emits substantially more greenhouse gases and criteria air pollutants than natural-gas-fired generation, this indirect coal-use change effect diminishes potential emissions savings from natural gas transportation fuels. Estimates from a parameterized multi-market model suggest the indirect coal-use change effect rivals in magnitude the indirect land-use change effect of biofuels and renders natural gas fuels as carbon intensive as petroleum fuels.     

电感耦合等离子体质谱法测定砂金中稀土元素

建立了砂金中15种稀土元素的电感耦合等离子体质谱测定方法。考察了基体Au的谱线干扰及基体效应,采用In内标补偿基体对待测信号的抑制作用。仪器检测限为0.000 9～0.002 9μg/L,加入标准物质的回收率为98%～106.7%,分析结果的相对标准偏差（RSD）为0.33%～1.79%。该方法简单、快速、灵敏、准确。     

Antifungal activity mode of Aspergillus ochraceus by bacillomycin D and its inhibition of ochratoxin A (OTA) production in food samples

The inhibition effects of bacillomycin D on the growth of Aspergillus ochraceus and the production of ochratoxin A (OTA) in food samples were investigated. The mycelia growth and sporulation were completely inhibited by 30 μg/mL of bacillomycin D. Microscopic morphological changes such as the distortion of hyphae and the disruption of spores at 20 μg/mL of bacillomycin D were significantly observed. The use of bacillomycin D resulted in cell damage, nucleic acids and proteins divulge, and more production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and all these factors actively contributed to the promotion of apoptosis of A. ochraceus. In addition, 90 μg/g of bacillomycin D completely inhibited the growth of A. ochraceus and the production of OTA in food samples. Our results suggested that bacillomycin D showed a significant antifungal activity against A. ochraceus that could be used as a potential natural antimicrobial to control food contamination and ensure food safety.
