New results on the crack-tip fields in an elastic power-law hardening material under plane stress mode I loading are presented.
Using a generalized asymptotic expansion of the stress function, higher-order terms are found which have newly-discovered
characteristics. A series solution is obtained for the elastic-plastic crack-tip fields. The expansion of stress fields contains

that: (1) the effect of higher-order solutions on the crack-tip fields is much smaller; and (2) the path-independent integral
J also controls the second-order or third-order term in the asymptotic solutions of the crack-tip fields for most of the engineering
materials (1 < n < 11) in plane stress, while the J-integral does not control the second and the third-order terms for the
plane strain mode I case for n > 3. These theoretical results imply that the crack-tip fields can be well characterized by
the J-integral, and can be used as a criterion for fracture initiation under plane stress mode I loading. This is in agreement
with existing full-field solutions and experimental data that J at crack growth initiation is essentially independent of in-plane
specimen geometry. The comparison confirms the theoretical asymptotic solutions developed in this study.

Three time integration methods for incompressible flows with discontinuous Galerkin Boltzmann method
This paper presents three time integration methods for incompressible flows with finite element method in solving the lattice-BGK Boltzmann equation. The space discretization is performed using nodal discontinuous Galerkin method, which employs unstructured meshes with triangular elements and high order approximation degrees. The time discretization is performed using three different kinds of time integration methods, namely, direct, decoupling and splitting. From the storage cost, temporal accuracy, numerical stability and time consumption, we systematically compare three time integration methods. A method to determine higher order coefficients from the solution of a singular integral equation is presented. The coefficients are defined by , which gives the radial stress at a distance, r, in front of the crack tip. In this asymptotic series the stress intensity factor, k0, is the first coefficient, and the T-stress, T0, is the second coefficient. For the example of an edge crack in a half space, converged values of the first 12 mode I coefficients (kn and Tn, n = 0, … , 5) have been determined, and for an edge crack in a finite width strip, the first six coefficients are presented. Coefficients for an internal crack in a half space are also presented. Results for an edge crack in a finite width strip are used to quantify the size of the k-dominant zone, the kT-dominant zone and the zones associated with three and four terms, taking into account the entire region around the crack tip. 相似文献

This paper reports the application of fuzzy set theory for decision-making in the assessment of physico-chemical quality of groundwater for drinking purposes. Methodology based on fuzzy set theory used to express the quality of water in the imprecise environment of monitored data and prescribed limits given in a non-probabilistic sense. Fuzzy synthetic evaluation model gives the certainty levels for the acceptability of the water based on the prescribed limit of various regulatory bodies quality class and perception of the experts from the field of drinking water quality. Application of fuzzy rule based optimization model is illustrated with 42 groundwater samples collected from the 15 villages of Ateli block of southern Haryana, India. These samples were analysed for 16 different physico-chemical water quality parameters. Ten parameters were used for the quality assessment using this approach. The analysis showed that four samples were in "desirable" category with certainty level of 35-58%, 23 samples were in "acceptable" category whose certainty level ranged from 37 to 75% and remaining 15 samples were in "not acceptable" category for drinking purposes with certainty levels from 44 to 100%. This concludes that about 64% water sources were either in "desirable" or "acceptable" category for drinking purposes. 相似文献
