Reports an error in the original article by Rotten et al (Journal of Applied Psychology. Vol 67(2) Apr 1982, 230-238). The receipt date was incorrectly listed as May 11, 1982. The article was actually received on May 11, 1981.(The following abstract of this article originally appeared in record 1982-20688-001) In Exp I, 42 Ss (mean age 30.4 yrs) tracked a moving target and monitored lights after receiving sublingual drops that contained either water, sodium nitrate (4.5, 45, 450, or 4,500 ppm), or sodium fluoride (.1, 1, 10, or 100 ppm). Dosage levels equaled, exceeded, or fell below those of municipal waters. In Exp II, 20 females performed this task after receiving sublingual drops of the same test substances in a repeated measures design; dosage levels equaled or exceeded levels found in municipal waters by 100 or 500 times. Neither type nor amount of chemical affected primary task performance; however, after receiving sublingual drops in Exp I, Ss paid less attention to lights on their right. In Exp II, Ss made more errors and had longer response latencies after they received moderate and very high concentrations of test substances. It is concluded that challenge testing is a safe but effective technique for provoking and studying reactions to chemicals when combined with a sensitive measure of sensorimotor performance. 应用双参数模型确定混凝土在不同粗骨料粒径和不同硅灰掺量时的临界应力强度子(K1c^s)和临界裂缝尖端张开位移(CTPDc),同时利用特征长度l^ch研究粗骨料粒径和硅灰掺量对混凝土脆性的影响。文章也给出了相应的弹性模量、抗压强度以及抗拉强度。试验龄期为28天。试验结果表明,对于高强混凝土最大粗骨料粒径增大,弹性模量和抗压强度减小,而抗拉强度和临界应力强度因子以及材料的脆性增大;对于中等强度混凝土(MSC),硅灰掺量为10%(硅灰/[硅灰 水泥])的混凝土(MSC-SF)的弹性模量、抗压强度、抗拉强度、临界应力强厦因子和脆性都大干不掺硅灰的MSC。 相似文献

The authors evaluated the efficacy of fluoxetine hydrochloride (Prozac; Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, IN) as an adjunct to behavioral treatment for smoking cessation. Sixteen sites randomized 989 smokers to 3 dose conditions: 10 weeks of placebo, 30 mg, or 60 mg fluoxetine per day. Smokers received 9 sessions of individualized cognitive-behavioral therapy, and biologically verified 7-day self-reported abstinence follow-ups were conducted at 1, 3, and 6 months posttreatment. Analyses assuming missing data counted as smoking observed no treatment difference in outcomes. Pattern-mixture analysis that estimates treatment effects in the presence of missing data observed enhanced quit rates associated with both the 60-mg and 30-mg doses. Results support a modest, short-term effect of fluoxetine on smoking cessation and consideration of alternative models for handling missing data. The paradigm of using nanoparticle‐based formulations for drug delivery relies on their enhanced passive accumulation in the tumor interstitium. Nanoparticles with active targeting capabilities attempt to further enhance specific delivery of drugs to the tumors via interaction with overexpressed cellular receptors. Consequently, it is widely accepted that drug delivery using actively targeted nanoparticles maximizes the therapeutic benefit and minimizes the off‐target effects. However, the process of nanoparticle mediated active targeting initially relies on their passive accumulation in tumors. In this article, it is demonstrated that these two tumor‐targeted drug delivery mechanisms are interrelated and dosage dependent. It is reported that at lower doses, actively targeted nanoparticles have distinctly higher efficacy in tumor inhibition than their passively targeted counterparts. However, the enhanced permeability and retention effect of the tumor tissue becomes the dominant factor influencing the efficacy of both passively and actively targeted nanoparticles when they are administered at higher doses. Importantly, it is demonstrated that dosage is a pivotal parameter that needs to be taken into account in the assessment of nanoparticle mediated targeted drug delivery. 相似文献

Novel Impact of Wet Dosages of NMP in Extraction for Production of High BMCI Carbon Black Feedstocks

Abstract In separation sciences, “Solvent Extraction” is one of the most important unit operations, a very widely used process, next only to distillation. In the petroleum refining industry, solvent extraction is commonly widely applied to produce a number of specialty products such as BTX, lube base oils, waxes, etc. There are many solvents used in various separation processes, like sulfolane, phenol, furfural, ketones, and N-methyl pyrollidone (NMP). NMP in particular is an environmentally benign, new generation solvent, which can be tailored for specific separations by using it in conjunction with small doses of water. In recent years, researchers are re-looking at the separation processes and their modifications to exploit these for producing high-value industrial products from low-value refinery streams. The present study deals with the production of high-quality carbon black feedstocks (CBFS) from clarified oils. The study shows the beneficial effect of using NMP in combination with different dosages of water as extraction solvent to extract low-value clarified oil, a cracked material from the FCC unit of an operating Indian refinery. In the present study, water ranging from 0.3 wt% to 10 wt% was used with NMP to produce aromatic extract of BMCI (Bureau of Mines Correlation Index) up to 146 through liquid-liquid equilibrium and mass transfer studies on clarified oil (CLO). The effect of solvent-to-feed ratio at constant temperature on solvent extraction was also studied. The addition of water in NMP alters the “selectivity” of solvent, which can be exploited for producing aromatic extracts of a wide range of BMCI for different end-use applications. The major users of such high BMCI extracts are carbon black and electrode pitch manufacturers. Regression analysis was also done to develop correlations between water percentage in NMP and targeted BMCI of aromatic extract. Presently, CLO is blended with fuel oil and sold as a very low value product in refinery. Since the demand of CBFS is increasing continuously and current short-fall in India is met through imports from China, Korea, and Japan, it is desirable that such studies are undertaken and will lead to production of high-value CBFS from low-value refinery streams through separation processes. 相似文献
