Harold H. Kelley: Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award.

Presents one of three winners of the American Psychological Association's Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award (1971): Harold H. Kelley. Kelley is cited for the development of fundamental theory that has given a systematic framework to research on interpersonal processes and for penetrating and insightful experimental studies that have illuminated and extended our understanding of these processes. National Media Award.

American Psychological Foundation Awards for 1978: Gold Medal, Distinguished Contribution to Education in Psychology, Unique Contribution in the Teaching of Psychology, and the National Media.

On August 29, 1978, at the annual meeting of the APA in Toronto, the American Psychological Foundation announced the recipients of the Gold Medal Award, the Distinguished Contribution to Education in Psychology Award, a special award for Unique Contribution in the Teaching of Psychology, and the National Media Awards. George Albee, President of the APF, made the presentations. Ernest R. Hilgard received the Gold Medal Award; Douglas K. Candland was given the Teaching Award; and Robert S. Daniel was the recipient of the Unique Contribution in the Teaching of Psychology Award. National Media Award winners were Robert M. Stern and William J. Ray, Emily Hahn, Elizabeth Einstein, Eric Braun, and Stephen Glauber and Dan Rather. Other members of the APF are Wilbert J. McKeachie (Vice-President}, Boris E. Cherney (Treasurer), Charles A. The Award for Distinguished Scientific Applications of Psychology is presented to a person who, in the opinion of the Committee on Scientific Awards, has made distinguished theoretical or empirical advances leading to the understanding or amelioration of important practical problems. Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Practice in the Public Sector.

Presents the citation, biography, and selected bibliography for the 2007 recipient of the American Psychological Association's Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Practice in the Public Sector. Also presented is an article based on the author's award address delivered at the 115th annual meeting, held August 17-20, 2007, in San Francisco, California. This award recognizes outstanding service delivery by a psychologist who is primarily engaged in the practice of psychology in a public sector setting (e.g., state hospital, military, Veterans Affairs, etc.). Award for Distinguished Scientific Applications of Psychology.

The Award for Distinguished Scientific Applications of Psychology is presented to persons who, in the opinion of the Committee on Scientific Awards, have made distinguished theoretical or empirical advances leading to the understanding or amelioration of important practical problems. This document lists the winners of this award from 1973 to 2001, and provides the citation, biography, and selected bibliography for the 2001 recipient, David T. Lykken. Distinguished Scientific Award for the Applications of Psychology 1986: Martin T. Orne.

Martin T. Orne, the 1986 recipient of the Distinguished Scientific Award for the Applications of Psychology, was presented with a check for $2,000 and an engrossed citation of his contribution. Orne receives this award "for his efforts to integrate psychological theory and methods with the pragmatic concerns of psychotherapy, medicine, and law. Through his research he has helped practitioners to realize the potential benefits and limitations of hypnosis, lie detection, sleep, and biofeedback, and the roles played by specific and nonspecific factors in psychotherapy and behavioral medicine. His analysis of the social context of the experiment has elucidated the importance of demand characteristics in shaping experience and behavior, and helped alter the way in which both experimentalists and clinicians evaluate the reactions of subjects, clients, and patients. Psychologist, physician, scientist, clinician, editor, and expert witness, no one better exemplifies the theoretical and practical advantages of transcending disciplinary boundaries in the pursuit of our common goals."
