Reading Motivation: Multidimensional and Indeterminate.

The Motivations for Reading Questionnaire (MRQ) contains 54 items that are posited to tap 11 dimensions of reading motivation. The structural validity of the MRQ was investigated with 2 samples: (a) 328 students in Grades 3-5 from 2 suburban mid-Atlantic elementary schools and (b) 735 students in Grades 3-5 in 2 suburban southwestern elementary schools. With confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs), the theoretical 11-factor structure did not adequately fit the data in either sample. Subsequently, exploratory factor analyses found 8 factors for each sample with 6 factors defined by only 3 or 4 common items. However, a double CFA cross-validation found an inadequate fit for both samples. Given these results, the authors suggest that the MRQ be revised. Improving the Calibration of Vacuum Gas Flow – Control Leak Gauges

A new and original method of calibrating helium leaks that makes it possible to take into account the existence of a number of auxiliary phenomena is described. For this purpose, a hollow leak the purpose of which is to reproduce only desorbed gas flows, is introduced into the vacuum system of the calibration bench. Analysis of the results of corresponding cumulation measurements makes it possible to introduce corrections for these phenomena.     

火炮身管内表面激光硬化处理的实验研究

提高身管寿命是火炮行业亟待解决的关键技术问题，激光表面改性技术是解决这一问题的有效方法之一。本文在分析激光表面相变硬化性能的基础上，对身管内表面进行了激光硬化处理实验研究，检测了其内表面阳线和阴线的硬化层硬度和深度，对比分析了离焦量和焦深对其内表面硬化层硬度的影响，并对激光相变硬化层金相组织进行了分析。经激光硬化处理后，身管的内表面硬度有明显提高，硬化层较深，且为很细的条状马氏体组织。

微桥法镍膜的弹性模量和残余应力测量

利用MEMS技术制作了不同尺寸的镍(Ni)膜微桥结构样品。采用纳米压痕仪XP系统测量了微桥载荷与位移的关系,并结合微桥力学理论模型得到了两种不同尺寸的Ni膜的弹性模量和残余应力。结果表明,两种不同尺寸的Ni膜的弹性模量结果一致,为190 GPa左右,但是残余应力变化较大。与采用纳米压痕仪直接测得的带有硅(Si)基底的Ni膜弹性模量186.8 7.5 GPa相比较,两者符合较好。     

Design Methodology and Area Sensitivity Analysis of Horizontal Subsurface Flow Constructed Wetlands

An approach is presented to satisfy the demand for simple criteria, guidelines and models for the preliminary sizing of horizontal subsurface flow (SF) constructed wetland systems. This approach eliminates time-consuming calculations and iterations by providing graphical solutions for wetland system sizing. Therefore, it can be used for the preliminary assessment of new or performance evaluation of existing subsurface flow constructed wetland systems. The validity of this methodology is checked with data from existing systems and is found to be quite satisfactory. This methodology is combined with simple equations predicting the maximum wetland capacity in summer, so as to assist designers in sizing installations in tourist areas with increased summer populations. Furthermore, based on this methodology, a sensitivity analysis is performed of the area requirements for wastewaters of various strengths and various design conditions and performance criteria. The results provide a useful overview to engineers and further simplify the design methodology of new subsurface flow constructed wetland systems.
