Paul Thomas Young: Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award.

Presents the 1965 American Psychological Association Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award to Paul Thomas Young. The citation reads: "For his lifelong study of hedonic processes in behavior. Convinced of their significance for psychology, he endeavored to give objective reference and experimental validity to the concept. Although hedonic theorizing ran counter to the prevailing temper, he persisted in the belief that the control of behavior must be analyzed for affective value as well as intensity value. His research on preference showed the effect of experience in modifying acceptability; his work on need-free organisms clarified acceptance and appetitive behavior. Most recently, he has been examining composite stimuli and preference. Current renewed interest in hedonic theory rests in good measure on his experimental demonstrations and theoretical arguments." Early Career Awards for 1977.

The three recipients of the Early Career Award, given for the first time in 1974, were drawn from the fields of psychopathology, human learning/cognition, and physiological psychology. The Committee on Scientific Awards postponed giving the award in 1975 in the fields of developmental, personality, and animal learning because several of the panels did not reach consensus on nominees. Therefore, the recipients for 1976 were drawn from those fields. The awards for 1977 were given in the areas of methodological, sensation/perception, and social psychology. Recipients of this award may not be more than 8 years post-PhD and are drawn from different areas on a rotating basis. In 1975 the awards will again be given in psychopathology, human learning/cognition, and physiological psychology. Every year a panel will be selected for each field in order to recommend a slate of nominees to the Committee on Scientific Awards. The panels for this year were Lewis R. Goldberg (Chair), Barry E. Collins, and E. Belvin Williams for methodological; Julian Hochberg (Chair), Robert M. Boynton, and Richard M. Held for sensation/perception; and John M. Distinguished Contribution for Applications in Psychology Award for 1976.

The American Psychological Association's Distinguished Contribution for Applications in Psychology Award was given this year for the fourth time. This award is presented to a person who has engaged in a program of research that is both systematic and applied in character. The recipient is presented with a check for $1,000 and an engrossed citation of their contributions. This year's award was won by Fred S. Keller. The award was presented by Richard F. Thompson, Chair of the Committee on Scientific Awards. Other members of the committee are Dorothea Hurvich, Walter Mischel, Lorrin A. Riggs, Janet T. Spence, and Elaine Walster. -Fem-ale or -Mal-e Authorship?

Immediately after reading "The History of Psychology Revisited: Or, Up with Our Foremothers" (Bernstein- [fem] & Russo[fem], February 1974), which decried the inability of readers to determine whether a reference is authored by a male or a female, I read in the same issue of the American Psychologist "What Psychology Is About" (Hebb[mal], February 1974). The latter article mentioned the early Russian psychologist Shenger-Krestovnikova, of whom I have never heard. I am nevertheless sure that this psychologist was female because the Russian language distinguishes between male and female last-name endings. This suggests a much-needed repair to our method of citation. We should add, at the end of each name, a suffix to indicate sex. The author gives several suggestions for how to accomplish this. Fred S. Keller: Distinguished Contributions to Education in Psychology Award.

Presents the citation of the American Psychological Foundation's Distinguished Contributions to Education in Psychology Award for 1970. Fred S. Keller is one of this year's recipients. His award citation reads: "Pioneer in applying behaviorism to the teaching of psychology. He and his followers have wrought major changes in undergraduate psychology courses." John C. Flanagan: Distinguished Professional Contribution Award.

Recognizes the receipt of the American Psychological Association's 1976 Distinguished Professional Contribution Award by John C. Flanagan. The award citation reads: "His many contributions to professional psychology began when he assembled the staff and directed the program of Aviation Psychology during World War II. Through ingenious test development and careful validation, this program not only made an important contribution to the combat effectiveness of the Air Corps but also demonstrated the potential of this kind of classification testing on a nationwide basis, more recently exemplified by Project TALENT. His career has been distinguished also by his founding and leadership of the American Institutes for Research. With great imagination and leadership, John C. 改革开放以后,国内设置了一系列奖项以鼓励和刺激建筑设计的发展,其中“建设部优秀建筑设计奖”最具连续性、权威性和时效性,它在一定程度上反映了我国建筑设计的发展情况。本文对该奖项截至2005年的获奖作品进行简单梳理,总结出改革开放以后中国现代主义建筑创作手法的五种倾向。

目前,工程造价纠纷问题的主要原因是施工合同中造价条款的约定较为粗略。要减少纠纷、有效控制工程造价,发承包双方必须在施工合同中详细约定造价条款。文章分析了详细约定造价条款对发承包双方的意义,并从公正、公平的立场对如何详细约定风险范围、价款支付方式、竣工结算程序、供应材料和设备的结算方法,变更签认的程序和生效条件等条款提出了建议。
