In this paper, we consider the problem of delay-interval-dependent robust stability and stabilization of a class of linear uncertain neutral-type systems with time-varying delay. By constructing a candidate Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional (LKF), that takes into account the delay-range information appropriately, less conservative robust stability criteria are proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to compute the maximum allowable upper bounds (MAUB) for the delay-interval within which the uncertain neutral-type system under consideration remains asymptotically stable. The verifiable stabilizability conditions and memoryless state feedback control design are stated. This paper considers a new class of multi-product source and multi-period fuzzy random production planning problems with minimum risk and service levels where both the demands and the production costs are assumed to be uncertain and characterized as fuzzy random variables with known distributions. The proposed problems are formulated as a fuzzy random production planning (FRPP) model by maximizing the mean chance of the total costs less than a given allowable investment level. Because the exact value of the objective function for a given decision variable cannot be easily obtained, we adopt an approximation approach (AA) to evaluate the objective value and then discuss the convergence of the AA, including the convergence of the objective value, the convergence of the optimal solutions and the convergence of the optimal value. Since the approximating multi-product source multi-period FRPP model is neither linear nor convex, an approximation-based hybrid monkey algorithm (MA) which combines the AA, stochastic simulation (SS), neural network (NN) and MA is designed to solve the proposed model. Natural cataclysms (earthquakes, hurricanes and so forth) become natural disasters when they coincide with vulnerabilities; unfortunately, informal settlements in developing countries are only too often highly vulnerable – a reality amply and unhappily confirmed by available statistics. In this context, reconstruction projects are sandwiched between the short‐term necessity to act promptly and the long‐term requirements of sustainable community development – a situation that is currently reflected in alternative and conflicting paradigms at the policy level. Adopting a case‐study approach, we explore the use of temporary housing within two post‐disaster environments, where the impact of different organizational designs leads to fundamentally different solutions to the short‐term housing problem. Our research adopts a dynamic systems approach, associating strategic organizational team design with the development of tactical technical proposals. Two case studies from Turkey and Colombia show that a coherent approach to the sequential stages of providing immediate shelter, temporary housing and permanent reconstruction is not always obtained. The research results emphasize that the performance of reconstruction projects is directly linked to the design and management of the project team. 相似文献

This paper applies matrix-analytic approach to the examination of the loss behavior of a space priority queue. In addition to the evaluation of the long-term high-priority and low-priority packet loss probabilities, we examine the bursty nature of packet losses by means of conditional statistics with respect to critical and non-critical periods that occur in an alternating manner. The critical period corresponds to having more than a certain number of packets in the buffer; non-critical corresponds to the opposite. Hence there is a threshold buffer level that splits the state space into two. By such a state-space decomposition, two hypothesized Markov chains are devised to describe the alternating renewal process. The distributions of various absorbing times in the two hypothesized Markov chains are derived to compute the average durations of the two periods and the conditional high-priority packet loss probability encountered during a critical period. These performance measures greatly assist the space priority mechanism for determining a proper threshold. The overall complexity of computing these performance measures is of the order O(K2m13m23), where K is the buffer capacity, and m1 and m2 are the numbers of phases of the underlying Markovian structures for the high-priority and low-priority packet arrival processes, respectively. Thus the results obtained are computationally tractable and numerical results show that, by choosing a proper threshold, a space priority queue not only can maintain the quality of service for the high-priority traffic but also can provide the near-optimum utilization of the capacity for the low-priority traffic. 相似文献

Phase‐field approaches to fracture offer new perspectives toward the numerical solution of crack propagation. In this paper, a phase‐field method for finite deformations and general nonlinear material models is introduced using a novel multiplicative split of the principal stretches to account for the different behavior of fracture in tension and compression. An energy‐momentum consistent integrator is developed and applied to the arising nonlinear coupled phase‐field model. This approach is thermodynamically consistent in the sense that the first law of thermodynamics if fulfilled with respect to the dissipation function.
