It is common for wind turbines to be installed in remote locations on land or offshore, leading to difficulties in routine inspection and maintenance. Further, wind turbines in these locations are often subject to harsh operating conditions. These challenges mean there is a requirement for a high degree of maintenance. The data generated by monitoring systems can be used to obtain models of wind turbines operating under different conditions, and hence predict output signals based on known inputs. A model-based condition monitoring system can be implemented by comparing output data obtained from operational turbines with those predicted by the models, so as to detect changes that could be due to the presence of faults. This paper discusses several techniques for model-based condition monitoring systems: linear models, artificial neural networks, and state dependent parameter "pseudo" transfer functions. The models are identified using supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) data acquired from an operational wind firm. It is found that the multiple-input single-output state dependent parameter method outperforms both multivariate linear and artificial neural network-based approaches. Subsequently, state dependent parameter models are used to develop adaptive thresholds for critical output signals. In order to provide an early warning of a developing fault, it is necessary to interpret the amount by which the threshold is exceeded, together with the period of time over which this occurs. The problem of robust absolute stability for time‐delay Lur'e systems with parametric uncertainties is investigated in this paper. The nonlinear part of the Lur'e system is assumed to be both time‐invariant and time‐varying. The structure of uncertainty is a general case that includes norm‐bounded uncertainty. Based on the Lyapunov–Krasovskii stability theory, some delay‐dependent sufficient conditions for the robust absolute stability of the Lur'e system will be derived and expressed in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). These conditions reduce the conservativeness in computing the upper bound of the maximum allowed delay in many cases. This paper is concerned with the problem of stability and stabilization of neutral time‐delay systems. A new delay‐dependent stability condition is derived in terms of linear matrix inequality by constructing a new Lyapunov functional and using some integral inequalities without introducing any free‐weighting matrices. On the basis of the obtained stability condition, a stabilizing method is also proposed. Using an iterative algorithm, the state feedback controller can be obtained. Tracking control for switched linear systems with time‐delay is investigated in this paper. Based on the state‐dependent switching method, sufficient conditions for the solvability of the tracking control problem are given. We use single Lyapunov function technique and a typical hysteresis switching law to design a tracking control law such that the H∞ model reference tracking performance is satisfied. The controller design problem can be solved efficiently by using linear matrices inequalities. Since convex combination techniques are used to derive the delay independent criteria, some subsystems are allowed to be unstable. It is highly desirable that a non‐switched time‐delay system can not earn such property. Simulation example shows the feasibility and validity of the switching control law. The robust stability and robust stabilization for time‐delay discrete singular systems with parameter uncertainties is discussed. A delay‐dependent linear matrix inequality (LMI) condition for the time‐delay discrete systems to be nonsingular and stable is given. Based on this condition and the restricted system equivalent transformation, the delay‐dependent LMI condition is proposed for the time‐delay discrete singular systems to be admissible. With this condition, the problems of robust stability and robust stabilization are solved, and the delay‐dependent LMI conditions are obtained. A delay‐dependent criterion for the global asymptotic stability of a class of uncertain discrete‐time state‐delayed systems using various combinations of quantization and overflow nonlinearities is presented.
