Fatty acid variation among U.S. Runner-type peanut cultivars

Fatty acid composition was determined among seven U.S. runner-type peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) cultivars: Florunner, Sunrunner, GK-7, Southern Runner, Sunbelt Runner, Okrun, and Langley. Significant year and cultivar differences were found within these fatty acid profiles. Southern Runner had the best oleic to linoleic ratio and iodine values; whereas Florunner, Sunrunner, and Langley were the highest in unsaturated and lowest in saturated and long-chain fatty acids. For the future, breeding programs need to continue developing peanut cultivars with improved oil quality.

Algorithms for Quantum Branching Programs Based on Fingerprinting

In the paper, we develop a method for constructing quantum algorithms for computing Boolean functions by quantum ordered read-once branching programs (quantum OBDDs). Our method is based on ˉngerprinting technique and representation of Boolean functions by their characteristic polynomials. We use circuit notation for branching programs for desired algorithms presentation. For several known functions our approach provides optimal QOBDDs. Namely we consider such functions as MODm, EQn, Palindromen, and PERMn (testing whether given Boolean matrix is the Permutation Matrix). We also propose a generalization of our method and apply it to the Boolean variant of the Hidden Subgroup Problem.

渭河干流关中段季节性水环境容量研究

针对季节性河流流量具有周期性变化的特点,采用季节性污水排放计划(SDP)的季节划分方法,提出季节性河流水环境容量计算方法。以渭河干流关中段为例,将一年划分为旱雨两季,利用一维水质模型计算8个季节划分方案和1个对照方案在50%、75%和90%保证率下的水环境容量。研究结果表明:在相同保证率下,分季节计算的渭河干流关中段COD和NH3-N环境容量分别是传统环境容量计算方法的1.17~1.59倍和1.25~1.79倍,表明分季节计算的河流水环境容量明显大于以年为单位计算的河流水环境容量。     

RefWorks Usage Patterns: Exploring the First Four Semesters of Use by Faculty,Graduate Students,and Undergraduates

This study explores citation management usage patterns of undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty. We analyze the temporal use of RefWorks with an eye toward informing reference services and instruction initiatives. The frequency and intensity of use allow us to glean an understanding of user groups on campus. While our findings for undergraduates and faculty conform to general assumptions, graduate students emerge as a group more similar to faculty than anticipated. Graduate students’ use of RefWorks is characterized by steady logins and large amounts of references; thus, suggesting that personalized instruction might benefit graduate students more than scheduled workshops.
