A sandwich element can be isolated in all two-dimensional adhesive joints, thereby simplifying the analysis of strain and stress. An adhesive sandwich model has been developed that accommodates arbitrary loading, a bilinear adherend stress-strain response, and any form of nonlinear adhesive behavior. The model accounts for both the bending deformation and the shear deformation of the adherends. Stress and strain distributions in the adhesive were obtained by solving a system of six differential equations using a finite-difference method. For a sample adhesive sandwich, the adhesive strains and stresses from the new model were compared with those of other models. Finally, the model was coupled with an analytical solution for the detached section of an adhesive joint in peel. The stress and strain distributions in the adhesive and the root curvature of the peel adherend were then compared with finite element results. An accompanying article in this issue uses the model with experimental peel data to investigate the suitability of various adhesive failure criteria.  相似文献

Spent coffee grounds (SCG), which are the residue obtained from the treatment of coffee with hot water or steam, can be used for industrial applications, due to the high content in lipids. The cosmetic products might be a suitable application for these types of residues because the barrier properties of the stratum corneum (SC) are largely dependent on the intactness of the lipid lamellae that surrounds the corneocytes. The purpose of this work was to assess the feasibility of using the lipid fraction of SCG extracted with supercritical carbon dioxide in the development of new cosmetic formulations with improved skin lipids (sebum) and hydration. The use of spent coffee lipid extract in cosmetic industry seems to be a suitable approach to recycle the wastes from coffee industry. Emulsion containing 10% of the lipid fraction of SCG (SpentCofOil cream) presented promising characteristics in the improvement of sebum skin levels with a good acceptance by consumers when compared to an emulsion containing 10% w/w of green coffee oil (GreenCofOil cream) and a placebo without coffee oil (NoCofOil cream). Practical applications: In this work, the authors develop and characterize a cream containing 10% of the lipid fraction of SCG extracted with supercritical carbon dioxide with improved skin lipids (sebum) and hydration.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Microorganisms have often been considered for the production of oils and fats as an alternative to agricultural and animal resources. Extraction experiments were performed using a strain of the yeast Yarrowia lipolytica (Y. lipolytica), a high‐lipid‐content yeast. Three different methods were tested: Soxhlet extraction, accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) and supercritical carbon dioxide (SCCO2) extraction using ethanol as a co‐solvent. Also, high pressure solubility measurements in the systems ‘CO2 + yeast oil’ and ‘CO2 + ethanol + yeast oil’ were carried out. RESULTS: The solubility experiments determined that, at the conditions of the supercritical extractor (40 °C and 20 MPa), a maximum concentration of 10 mg of yeast oil per g of solvent can be expected in pure CO2. 10% w/w of ethanol in the solvent mixture increased this value to almost 15 mg of yeast oil per g of solvent. Different pretreatments were necessary to obtain satisfactory yields in the extraction experiments. The Soxhlet and the ASE method were not able to complete the lipid extraction. The ‘SCCO2 + ethanol’ extraction curves revealed the influence of the different pretreatments on the extraction mechanism. CONCLUSION: Evaluating the effectiveness of a given pretreatment, ASE reduced the amount of material and solvent used compared with Soxhlet. In all three cases, the best total extraction performance was obtained for the ethanol‐macerated yeast (EtM). Addition of ethanol to the solvent mixture enhanced the oil solubility. Oil can be extracted from Y. lipolytica in two different steps: a non‐selective ethanol extraction followed by TAG‐selective SCCO2 purification. © 2012 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The adhesion of photocured resins to ceramic substrates has been investigated using a variety of surface analytical techniques. Work has been aimed at establishing the physical and chemical interactions between resin and substrate in the interphase region and the effect of environmental exposure on these Analysis was aided by use of specially-designed, in-situ fracture facilities attached by an X-ray photoelectron spectrometer. Specific attention was focused on identification of localised regions of varying chemical composition in adhesive and adherend by imaging spectroscopies (imaging XPS and ToF SIMS imaging) and the study of the significance of such heterogeneities on adhesion and subsequent failure mechanisms.  相似文献

Apitong (Dipterocarpus spp.) and Caribbean pine (Pinus caribaea Morelet) contain high amounts of extractives that contribute to poor bonding. To reduce, if not to eliminate, the effects of these extraneous substances, surfaces of small wood blocks were Soxhlet-extracted for 8 hours by different solvents. Wettability of the wood surfaces was then measured by droplet and dynamic methods using water and dilute NaOH as liquids. Tensile shear strengths of extracted wood bonded with aqueous vinyl polymer isocyanate (API), resorcinol formaldehyde (RF) and polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) resin adhesives were also measured. Results revealed that although Caribbean pine had much higher resin content than Apitong, the former had better wettability than the latter. Solvent extraction of the adherend with either hexane or ethanol-benzene (1:2) for 8 hours was not enough to improve its wettability but enough to improve its gluability. However, successive extraction with hexane, methanol and ethanol benzene rendered the wood satisfactorily wettable. Generally, a direct relationship between wettability and bond strength could not be observed. In a separate experiment to improve bonding strengths, test specimens were either overheated or autoclaved for 4 minutes at 125°C during the pressing period. Autoclave treatment was found to be useful in increasing the bond strengths of API, RF, PVAc and urea formaldehyde (UF)-bonded Apitong and Caribbean pine.  相似文献

Sea buckthorn is a promising source of bioactive compounds. However, there is limited information on the effect of post harvest drying and extraction of sea buckthorn on its antioxidant capacity. The effect of freeze, air, and solar dryingon the extraction yield of sea buckthorn berries and leaves was evaluated with respect to their bioactive content. Sequential extraction with solvents of different polarity and solvent-free microwave-assisted extraction were applied. Freeze-drying has better performance in the berries’ extracts, while air-drying has better performance in the leaves’ extracts. All data were analyzed by Multi Factor Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's post-hoc tests at a level of α = .05. Although the extraction yield in the sequential extraction of sea buckthorn berries is significantly better, the leaves’ extracts exhibit superior radical scavenging ability. Accelerated solar drying appears to preserve sea buckthorn leaves without degrading their antioxidant content. The components responsible for the high antioxidant activity of leaves’ extracts were found to be several flavonoids and polyphenols. The extract obtained by the microwave extraction of fresh berries exhibits moderate antioxidant activity compared to the polar extracts of freeze-dried berries.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Three-phase extraction system of TBP-kerosene / HClO4-H2O has been studied and compared with two-phase system of TBP / HClO4-H2O. The results indicate that the composition of the middle phase and its change with the increasing aqueous acidity in the three-phase system are almost the same as that of the organic phase in two-phase system. The extraction in high acidity can be explained by the solubilization of acid and water in the aggregates formed by amphiphilic extracted complexes.  相似文献
