Enhancement of Spatial Learning-Memory in Developing Rats via Mozart Music

This paper studies the effect of musical stimulations on the capability of the spatial learningmemory in developing rats by behavioral and electrophysiological techniques. Rats, which are exposed to Mozart's Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major, complete learning tasks of the Moriss water maze with significantly shorter latencies, and the power spectrum of alpha band of electrohippocampogram (EHG) significantly increase, compared with the control rats and rats exposed to the horror music. The results indicate that if given the stimulation of Mozart music in the developmental period of the auditory cortex, the capability of the spatial learning-memory can be significantly changed. The enhancement of alpha band of EHG may be related to the change of this function mainly.

Design of weave patterns: when engineering textiles meets music

This study aims to present a novel approach in creation of new patterns for woven textiles, which is based on musical scores. Such a design method has not been presented in the literature. It is based on the similarity between the music notation and the 2D coding of woven patterns. Theoretical and practical details on application of the design method are discussed. Weave patterns, based on famous musical pieces, are presented together with exemplary color designs. The four ‘musical’ patterns and their color designs could be considered as successful first attempts that open up additional opportunities for design and production of original, unique fabrics.     

唐代史料记载中的“乐”服饰研究

中国古代的乐舞和服饰艺术都在唐代到达了高峰,而专门针对乐舞服饰的研究寥寥。文章以唐代史料中"乐"的相关记载为依托,结合考古实物和图像资料,对其服饰形制进行分类研究,并从袍、袴、冠发和靴四方面进行图像复原。"乐"服饰以袍袴搭配为主体,服色材质基本符合唐五品以上的官员服制,其中《庆善乐》舞伎可推定为女性,《破阵乐》舞伎可推定为男性。基于文图互证的形制推定,一方面可确定服饰形象大体面貌,亦可避免以往对于图像的过度解读而带来的混淆。

Influence of expertise on semantic categorization of wine odors

Aromatic characterization is a key element of enhancing one’s knowledge of wine. While several studies have investigated the importance of wine expertise in the ability to perform odor-related sensory tasks, little attention has been paid to the influence of expertise on the semantic categorization of wine odors. To bridge this gap, this study aimed to explore the influence of a subject’s expertise on the semantic representation of wine odors by means of a free sorting task. For this purpose, 156 subjects were recruited. Their level of expertise was measured using a questionnaire and the data analysis revealed four clusters of subjects with a gradual level of expertise. Subjects also performed a sorting task on 96 odor terms. From the number and the size of odor groups formed, as well as the additive tree representation and the consensus partition between the terms for each expertise level, we observed that all subjects, regardless of their experience, had largely the same semantic categorization of wine-odor attributes, which was mainly shaped by the sources of the odorants. It appeared that level of wine expertise played a minor role in creating the semantic representation of wine odors, affecting mainly the knowledge of specialized terms.

国内对于动画电影声音的理论与实践研究尚处初级阶段。声音对于视听艺术的动画电影而言,有着不可替代的重要作用。研究声音的音乐、音响与语言则是提高动画声音创作的重要基础。     

PCA-改进RPROP方法的BP算法在音乐信号分类中的应用

针对标准的BP神经网络仅从预测误差负梯度方向修正权值和阈值,学习过程收敛缓慢,并且容易陷入局部最小值,导致泛化能力不足的问题,提出了一种基于学习经验变学习速率改进的RPROP方法作为BP神经网络权值和阈值更新方法,并与主成分分析法(Principal Component Analysis,PCA)相结合,形成了PCA-改进神经网络算法。同时,采用Matlab软件对四类音乐信号进行分类实验。实验结果表明,改进算法比标准算法的稳定识别率提高2.6%,当稳定识别率达到90%时,用时节省75%,表明该算法可以加快网络的收敛过程,提高泛化能力。
