The authors analyzed data from the 2002 National Study of the Changing Workforce (N = 3,504) to investigate relationships among availability of formal organizational family support (family benefits and alternative schedules), job autonomy, informal organizational support (work-family culture, supervisor support, and coworker support), perceived control, and employee attitudes and well-being. Using hierarchical regression, the authors found that the availability of family benefits was associated with stress, life satisfaction, and turnover intentions, and the availability of alternative schedules was not related to any of the outcomes. Job autonomy and informal organizational support were associated with almost all the outcomes, including positive spillover. Perceived control mediated most of the relationships. [Correction Notice: An erratum for this article was reported in Vol 14(2) of International Journal of Stress Management (see record 2007-07240-008). Several corrections of errata in a paper by the authors published in the 2006 issue of the International Journal of Stress Management are presented: (1) The sentence beginning on page 385, line 16 should read "To avoid identification problems, the error variance of Organizational commitment and Emotional load were constrained using the formula (1 - α) × sigma2." (2) The sentence on page 385, line 18, should be deleted. (3) Degrees of freedom for M3 in Table 2 were incorrectly reported. The correct degrees of freedom were 54. The corrected table is provided.] According to the job demands-resources (JD-R) model, job demands and resources evoke two relatively independent processes: health impairment and employee motivation. The robustness of the JD-R model was tested in two different occupational samples, the first of 654 Spanish employees and the second of 477 Dutch employees. Structural equation modeling analyses provided partial evidence for the two processes. Multigroup analyses showed that the structural paths of the model were invariant across countries, although the strength of the relationships differed. We conclude that the basic structure of the JD-R model is maintained, even when applied in different national and occupational contexts, when using different ways of gathering data (computerized versus paper and pencil), and when using slightly different measures to assess the key variables of the model. This paper focuses on the benefits that organizations may achieve from their investment in enterprise systems (ES). It proposes an ES benefit framework for summarizing benefits in the years after ES implementation. Based on an analysis of the features of enterprise systems, on the literature on information technology (IT) value, on data from 233 enterprise systems vendor‐reported stories published on the Web and on interviews with managers of 34 organizations using ES, the framework provides a detailed list of benefits that have reportedly been acquired through ES implementation. This list of benefits is consolidated into five benefits dimensions: operational, managerial, strategic, IT infrastructure and organizational, and illustrated using perceived net benefit flow (PNBF) graphs. In a detailed example, the paper shows how the framework has been applied to the identification of benefits in a longitudinal case study of four organizations.  相似文献

The facial skin of almost 500 women was measured by low pressure indentometry and surface pH-metry. The women's skin was also classified by visual observation by a well-trained cosmetician. Agreement between indentometry and cosmetic definition was found to be well correlated, except in the group of young women with dry skin. In this group, we believe, indentometry more accurately describes skin status. A significant relationship was found between high skin pH (>5.9) and lack of elasticity in the older age group with dry skin. It is hypothesized that high skin surface pH below the age of 70 is an expression of accelerated ageing process, and further, that chronic, high pH treatment of the skin leads to accelerated loss of skin elasticity. L'évaluation objective de l'état cosmétique de la peau en milieu medical La peau du visage de près de 500 femmes a été examinée par indentométrie, basse pression et par pH métrie superficielle. Les types de peau ont également été classés visuellement par un cosméticien entraîne. On a trouvé une bonne corrélation entre la définition cosmétique et les résultats de l'indentométrie sauf pour un groupe composé de jeunes femmes à peau sèche. Nous pensons que pour ce groupe ce sont les résultats de l'indentométrie qui permettent la meilleure appréciation de l'état de la peau. Dans un groupe de personnes plus âgées à peau sèche on a trouvé une relation significative entre des valeurs élevées du pH de la peau (pH > 5.9) et son manque d'élasticité. On a émis l'hypothèse que des valeurs élevées du pH cutané chez des sujets de moins de 70 ans constituaient une manifestation de vieillissement précoce et par tant que le traitement régulier avec les produits de pH élevé pouvait conduire à une perte d'elasticité plus rapide de la peau.  相似文献

The Singerian model of inquiring organizations is reviewed (Proceedings of the Americas Conference on Information Systems, Phoenix, Arizona Aug. 16–18,1996:443–445; Australian Journal of Information Systems, 1998;6(1):3–15, reprinted in Foundations of Information Systems: Towards a Philosophy of Informative Technology, http://www.cba.uh.edu/~parks/fis/fisart.htm.) and two cases of organizations representing the Singerian approach are analyzed. The Singerian organization, based on Churchman's (The Design of Inquiring Systems: Basic Concepts of Systems and Organizations, New York, NY: Basic Books Inc., 1971.) Singerian inquiring system, has ethical purposes, treats employees, customers and other stakeholders with trust and respect, and pursues socially responsible goals, including a respect for the environment. Decision making in Singerian organizations is holistic and systemic, and includes diverse stakeholders, thus requiring an open, cooperative culture, wherein debate is encouraged. Authority is diffuse. Measurement is fundamental. A system of measures is continuously monitored, refined, compared and revised to assess progress. Cooperation and communication are supported with various types of groupware, including e-mail, electronic meeting systems, group support systems, negotiation support systems, discussion forums, knowledge bases, knowledge management systems and the like. The Internet and World Wide Web may serve as resource and dissemination agents for exoteric knowledge created by the organization. Two organizations, an Energy Service Company and an academic Center for the Management of Information Systems, are analyzed for their conformance to and success with the Singerian approach. The organizations tended to prosper when the model was followed, but ran into difficulties when it was not.  相似文献
