The paper develops a model for the strategic management of architectural practice with the aim of better understanding how practices compete with each other for work around a tripartite definition of quality. It assesses the ways in which architectural practices are distinctive as knowledge-based organizations, before assessing some of the characteristics of their industrial context. Drawing on the work of Maister and Porter, it then develops a model of generic strategies for architectural practice which, it is suggested, can form the basis for further research and consultancy. This study examines the relationships between care felt and engagement in innovative behaviors at work. We posit that when an individual perceives that coworkers care for him or her (i.e., care felt), this cultivates psychological conditions such as safety, meaningfulness, and availability, which result in a higher level of motivation and by implication engagement in innovative behaviors at work. A sample of 218 employees took part in the assessment of the relationship between the psychological conditions linked to care felt (measured at Time 1) and motivation and engagement in innovative behaviors (measured at Time 2). The results of structural equation modeling (SEM) indicate that care felt is positively linked to psychological conditions. Organizational models have been recently used in agent theory for modeling coordination in open systems and to ensure social order in multi-agent system applications. In this paper, we propose the employment of Organization Theory for the analysis and design of multiagent systems. Thus, we first discuss the current state of the art of organization-oriented multiagent system methods, placing emphasis on their organizational features. We also review human organizational structures, and we propose several guidelines for implementing agent organizations by means of Organization Theory. Sammons, PhD; Derald Wing Sue, PhD; Susan Krauss Whitbourne, PhD; and Gerald P. Koocher, PhD, the liaison for the Board of Directors. APA Bylaws Article XI.7 requires that the Policy and Planning Board report annually by publication to the membership and review the structure and function of the Association as a whole every fifth year. Given the tremendous psychological impact of disasters and crises, the Policy and Planning Board decided to focus this 2005 annual report on the history and evolution of APA's responses to such traumas, with an eye to future directions that might be taken as the need arises. This report reviews the phases of response to disaster and proposes parameters for APA's organizational response. It also highlights concerns posed by the racial and economic disparities laid bare in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and raises questions about the proper role of psychology in addressing the broader social context in both preparation for and the aftermath of disaster. Healthcare organizations are often organized in a modular, loosely coupled fashion where separate and semi-autonomous work
units specialize in different areas of care delivery. This partitioning allows each unit to adapt to emerging practice standards
in its area of expertise and to adjust to its local work environment. However, organizational loose coupling can limit the
flow of information within organizations and can make it difficult to coordinate services when patients’ care is dependent
on professionals from more than one unit. Groupware systems have the potential to improve coordination and information access
in healthcare organizations. However, modularity and loose coupling make it difficult to introduce new systems when they span
more than one unit, since authority is not always centralized and since perceptions and frames of reference on new deployments
differ across units. In this paper, we define a groupware deployment framework for loosely coupled healthcare organizations
that has two parts: a set of deployment challenges and a set of deployment strategies. The deployment challenges include:
difficulties centralizing deployments, perceptions of inequity, role conflicts, and problems achieving critical mass. The
deployment strategies outline a preliminary set of approaches for addressing the difficulties of deploying CSCW systems in
loosely coupled healthcare organizations. We illustrate the framework by presenting a case study of a groupware deployment
