Despite advances in medicine, mortality due to sepsis has not decreased. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is emerging as an alternative treatment in many inflammation-related diseases. However, there are few studies on the application of PEMF therapy to sepsis. In the current study, we examined the effect of PEMF therapy on a mouse model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced septic shock. Mice injected with LPS and treated with PEMF showed higher survival rates compared with the LPS group. The increased survival was correlated with decreased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokine mRNA expression and lower serum nitric oxide levels and nitric oxide synthase 2 mRNA expression in the liver compared with the LPS group. In the PEMF + LPS group, there was less organ damage in the liver, lungs, spleen, and kidneys compared to the LPS group. To identify potential gene targets of PEMF treatment, microarray analysis was performed, and the results showed that 136 genes were up-regulated, and 267 genes were down-regulated in the PEMF + LPS group compared to the LPS group. These results suggest that PEMF treatment can dramatically decrease septic shock through the reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokine gene expression. In a clinical setting, PEMF may provide a beneficial effect for patients with bacteria-induced sepsis and reduce septic shock-induced mortality. 相似文献

为满足严格的排放法规,在控制好NOx排放的同时,也需减少N2O、NH3等二次污染物的排放。为探究尾气组分对NOx还原产物的影响,本文用催化活性模拟评价装置,对自制单钯三效催化剂,进行了还原剂种类、CO浓度及水蒸汽浓度对NO转化效率及N2O和NH3生成产物的影响研究。结果表明,CO催化还原NO是导致N2O生成的主要原因,其内在本质在于催化剂表面活性氧物种的协同作用,NH3的生成量在150~400 ℃范围内与反应温度正相关;水蒸汽的加入会促进N2O和NH3的生成,H2O分子在催化剂表面吸附作用抑制了活性氧物种的消耗;增加CO浓度可抑制N2O生成但会促进NH3生成。 相似文献

制备了水合氧化镧(LaH)并将水合氧化镧负载于氨基磷酸树脂(APAR)上制得杂化吸附剂LaH-APAR,用红外光谱(FT-IR)、热重(TGA)对LaH-APAR的结构和热学性能进行了测试,并研究了pH值、温度对LaH及LaH-APAR吸附氟离子性能的影响。结果表明,La3+与APAR以配位键结合,LaH-APAR吸附剂在300℃以下比较稳定,它与LaH吸附性能基本相同,受pH值影响不大,可以在较宽的pH范围内使用;在pH不变的情况下,LaH-APAR随着温度的升高吸附速率也相应提高,属于温度控制吸附,且为化学吸附。 相似文献

通过水培和土壤盆栽试验,研究了Ca对茶树F吸收的影响。结果显示,在含F溶液中添加Ca显著降低茶树对F的吸收。在土壤盆栽试验中也得到了类似结果,在2种土壤F含量条件下,加入Ca(NO3)2后显著降低茶树成熟叶和新梢F含量。同样土壤加入CaO后,显著降低茶树对F的吸收。土壤分析表明加入Ca(NO3)2后并没有显著改变土壤水溶性F含量,而加入CaO后还增加了土壤水溶性F含量。因此,Ca减少F吸收可能并不单纯是因为形成CaF2后降低土壤F的有效性。 相似文献

In this article, we describe the antimicrobial properties of a new composite based on anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) membranes containing propyl-copper-phosphonate units arranged at a predetermined density inside the AAO channels. The samples were prepared with four concentrations of copper ions and tested as antimicrobial drug on four different strains of Escherichia coli (K12, R2, R3 and R4). For comparison, the same strains were tested with three types of antibiotics using the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) tests. Moreover, DNA was isolated from the analysed bacteria which was additionally digested with formamidopyrimidine-DNA glycosylase (Fpg) protein from the group of repair glycosases. These enzymes are markers of modified oxidised bases in nucleic acids produced during oxidative stress in cells. Preliminary cellular studies, MIC and MBC tests and digestion with Fpg protein after modification of bacterial DNA suggest that these compounds may have greater potential as antibacterial agents than antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, bleomycin and cloxacillin. The described composites are highly specific for the analysed model Escherichia coli strains and may be used in the future as new substitutes for commonly used antibiotics in clinical and nosocomial infections in the progressing pandemic era. The results show much stronger antibacterial properties of the functionalised membranes on the action of bacterial membranes in comparison to the antibiotics in the Fpg digestion experiment. This is most likely due to the strong induction of oxidative stress in the cell through the breakdown of the analysed bacterial DNA. We have also observed that the intermolecular distances between the functional units play an important role for the antimicrobial properties of the used material.
