A Profile of Psychologists' Views of Critical Risk Factors for Completed Suicide in Older Adults.

The ability to accurately and reliably predict whether an older adult will commit suicide has eluded clinicians and researchers. A random national sample of psychologists who work with older adults was surveyed regarding their perception of 36 risk factors for completed suicide and indirect self-destructive behavior in older adults. This study produced a profile of psychologists' assessment and treatment practices when working with suicidal older adults. Determining what psychologists consider to be the most salient risk factors for completed suicide is important in identifying a minimum standard that clinicians should follow when assessing older adults. Post-Event Rumination and Negative Self-Appraisal in Social Phobia Before and After Treatment.

This study investigated the relationship between self-appraisals of performance, symptom severity and post-event rumination in social phobia, and evaluated the effect of treatment on these variables. A socially phobic group and a nonanxious control group performed an impromptu speech and were told that their performance would be evaluated. Participants appraised their performance immediately after the speech and 1 week later, and the frequency of post-event rumination during the week following the speech was assessed. The socially phobic group maintained the negative appraisals of their speech over the week, whereas the nonclinical group showed increased positivity about their performance The socially phobic group also engaged in more negative rumination than controls. Treatment improved perceptions of performance and reduced negative rumination. These results are discussed in the light of cognitive models of social phobia. Evaluating the design of flexible manufacturing systems

Evaluating the design of flexible manufacturing systems is complex. Developing a measure of performance useful for evaluating alternate designs continues to be interesting. Here, total productivity of the system is proposed as an appropriate measure. Specification of parameters based upon strategic considerations for this measure are discussed. Finally, the usefulness of the measure is demonstrated through an example.     

Constructing a short form of the Smoking Consequences Questionnaire with adolescents and young adults.

The goal of the present studies was to construct and validate a short form of the 50-item Smoking Consequences Questionnaire (SCQ; T. H. Brandon & T. B. Baker, 1991), a measure of smoking outcome expectancies. In Study 1, a 21-item short form (S-SCQ) was derived from a sample of 107 young adults previously treated for substance abuse. In Study 2, the measure was cross-validated on 125 adolescents in treatment for substance abuse. Confirmatory factor analyses revealed good model fit and factorial invariance for the 4 S-SCQ subscales across both samples. Validation analyses on each sample found that subscale scores generally correlated significantly with smoking-related variables. The present studies provide initial evidence for the utility of the S-SCQ when used with young adults and adolescents. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)

过共晶Al－Si合金共生区激光表面处理

用２ｋＷ连续ＣＯ２激光对过共晶Ａｌ－１８Ｓｉ合金以不同能量密度和扫描速度进行快速熔凝处理。用扫描电镜、电子微区分析仪分析了微观结构。从计算机对Ａｌ－Ｓｉ合金ｆ－ｎｆ系统的非平衡理论计算所得的共生区及实验结果的分析可见，当能量密度和扫描速度决定的凝固条件处于共生区中部时，过共晶Ａｌ－Ｓｉ合金激光表面处理可以得到共晶间距低于２００ｎｍ的完全共晶结构。     

Ni对球墨铸铁热处理的影响

采用电子探针，图象分析仪、差质变分析仪和Ｘ射线衍仪定量研究了Ｎｉ在球铁中的分布和Ｎｉ铸态球铁组成相比例奥氏体中含碳量以及贝氏体转变ＴＴＴ曲线线的影响，结果表明，Ｎｉ在球铁中呈连续负偏析，其加入可以影响球铁组成上比例，并使粤氏体中含碳量和贝氏体转变孕育期期增加。
