Experimental investigation on the heat transfer and friction characteristics of rib-grooved artificial roughness on one broad heated wall of a large aspect ratio duct shows that Nusselt number can be further enhanced beyond that of ribbed duct while keeping the friction factor enhancement low. The experimental investigation encompassed the Reynolds number range from 3000 to 21,000; relative roughness height 0.0181–0.0363; relative roughness pitch 4.5–10.0, and groove position to pitch ratio 0.3–0.7. The effect of important parameters on the heat transfer coefficient and friction factor has been discussed and the results are compared with the results of ribbed and smooth duct under similar flow conditions. The present investigation clearly demonstrates that the heat transfer coefficient for rib-grooved arrangement is higher than that for the transverse ribs, whereas the friction factor is slightly higher for rib-grooved arrangement as compared to that of rectangular transverse ribs of similar rib height and rib spacing. The conditions for best performance have been determined. Correlations for Nusselt number and friction factor have been developed that predict the values within reasonable limits.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the impact a heat source makes on the thermo-hydraulic behaviour of a system composed of an engineered clay barrier and a host rock, namely an argillite. We first perform a benchmark test case with code CAST3M and code ASTER. The results of the calculations are in good agreement, except for the gas pressure. Nevertheless, gas pressure does not seem to influence the saturation process, although the saturation kinetics is governed by the darcean water flow. The saturation process is accelerated when the heat source is taken into account. More precisely, this acceleration is due to dynamic viscosity increase with heating. In a second time, five other heating sources have been tested in code ASTER. Compared with the reference calculations, some give an identical response. However, the highest heating sources provoke a desaturation phenomenon because of the air pressure increase with temperature. The liquid saturation of the engineered barrier is then delayed.  相似文献

The coaxial power coupler needed for beta = 0.65 superconducting RF cavities used in the high energy section of the EUROTRANS driver should transmit 150 kW (CW operation) RF power to the proton beam. The estimated RF losses on the power coupler outer conductor in standing wave mode operation are 46 W. To remove these heat loads, a full scale copper coil heat exchanger brazed around the outer conductor was designed and tested using supercritical helium at T = 6 K as a coolant. Our main objective was to minimise the heat loads to cold extremity of SRF cavity maintained at 2 K or 4.2 K. A dedicated test facility named SUPERCRYLOOP was developed and successfully operated in order to measure the performance of the cold heat exchanger. The test cell used reproduces the realistic thermal boundary conditions of the power coupler mounted on the cavity in the cryomodule. After a short introduction, a brief discussion about the problem of power coupler cooling systems in different machines is made. After that, we describe the experimental set-up and test apparatus. Then, a heat exchanger thermal model will be developed with FEM code COSMOS/M to estimate the different heat transfer coefficients by comparison between numerical simulation results and experimental data in order to validate the design. Finally, thermo-hydraulic behavior of supercritical helium has been investigated as function of different parameters (inlet pressure, flow rate, heat loads).  相似文献

建立考虑裂纹形态参数影响的周向穿透裂纹临界泄漏率的计算模型,以此为基础编制计算程序PC-Leakflow2。介绍程序的计算流程及求解方法,对影响裂纹临界泄漏率的各个输入参数进行敏感性分析,用文献中的临界泄漏率试验数据对PC-Leakflow2程序的计算结果进行验证。用PC-Leakflow2程序和经典的临界流模型对相同的例题进行计算,计算结果表明:临界泄漏率的大小受裂纹形态参数的影响较强;经典的临界流模型会显著地高估紧密裂纹的临界泄漏率。  相似文献

The port-based ITER diagnostic systems are housed primarily in two locations, the equatorial and upper port plugs. The port plug structure provides confinement function, maintains ultra-high vacuum quality and the first confinement barrier for radioactive materials at the ports. The port plug structure design, from the ITER International Organisation (IO), is cooled and heated by pressurized water which flows through a series of gun-drilled water channels and water pipes. The cooling function is required to remove nuclear heating due to radiation during operation of ITER, while the heating function is intended to heat up uniformly the machine during baking condition. The work presented provides coupled thermo-hydraulic analysis and optimization of a Generic Equatorial Port Plug (GEPP) structure cooling and heating system. The optimization performed includes positioning, minimization of number and size of gun drilled channels, complying with the flow and functional requirements during operating and baking conditions.  相似文献

开发了对核电厂乏燃料贮存水池进行热工水力分析的RETRAN模型,按照最大热功率工况,即在乏燃料贮存水池中装满乏燃料组件(其中包括换料期间刚卸出的全堆芯燃料组件)的条件下用RETRAN模型来评估乏燃料贮存水池冷却系统的冷却能力,并进行了几个假想方案的瞬态计算和校对计算。利用RETRAN模型来评估乏燃料贮存水池稳态和瞬态的热工水力安全分析既方便,又精确,还可用于申请许可证的计算和估算水池的温度分布。  相似文献

Artificial roughness in the form of repeated ribs has been proposed as a convenient method for enhancement of thermal performance of solar air heaters. This paper presents the experimental investigation of heat transfer and friction factor characteristics of a rectangular duct roughened with repeated square cross-section split-rib with a gap, on one broad wall arranged at an inclination with respect to the flow direction. The duct has a width to height ratio (W/H) of 5.84, relative roughness pitch (P/e) of 10, relative roughness height (e/Dh) of 0.0377, and angle of attack (α) of 60°. The gap width (g/e) and gap position (d/W) were varied in the range of 0.5–2 and 0.1667–0.667, respectively. The heat transfer and friction characteristics of this roughened duct have been compared with those of the smooth duct under similar flow condition. The effect of gap position and gap width has been investigated for the range of flow Reynolds numbers from 3000 to 18,000. The maximum enhancement in Nusselt number and friction factor is observed to be 2.59 and 2.87 times of that of the smooth duct, respectively. The thermo-hydraulic performance parameter is found to be the maximum for the relative gap width of 1.0 and the relative gap position of 0.25.  相似文献

The paper presents results of an experimental study of heat transfer and friction in a rectangular section duct with fully perforated baffles (open area ratio of 46.8%) or half perforated baffles (open area ratio of 26%) at relative roughness pitch of 7.2–28.8 affixed to one of the broader walls. The Reynolds number of the study ranges from 2700 to 11,150. The baffled wall of the duct is uniformly heated while the remaining three walls are insulated. These boundary conditions correspond closely to those found in solar air heaters. The study shows an enhancement of 79–169% in Nusselt number over the smooth duct for the fully perforated baffles and 133–274% for the half perforated baffles while the friction factor for the fully perforated baffles is 2.98–8.02 times of that for the smooth duct and is 4.42–17.5 times for the half perforated baffles. In general, the half perforated baffles are thermo-hydraulically better to the fully perforated baffles at the same pitch. Of all the configurations studied, the half perforated baffles at a relative roughness pitch of 7.2 give the greatest performance advantage of 51.6–75% over a smooth duct at equal pumping power.  相似文献

Artificial roughness in form of ribs is convenient method for enhancement of heat transfer coefficient in solar air heater. This paper presents experimental investigation of heat transfer and friction factor characteristics of rectangular duct roughened with W-shaped ribs on its underside on one broad wall arranged at an inclination with respect to flow direction. Range of parameters for this study has been decided on basis of practical considerations of system and operating conditions. Duct has width to height ratio (W/H) of 8.0, relative roughness pitch (p/e) of 10, relative roughness height (e/Dh) 0.018-0.03375 and angle of attack of flow (α) 30-75°. Air flow rate corresponds to Reynolds number between 2300-14,000. Heat transfer and friction factor results have been compared with those for smooth duct under similar flow and thermal boundary condition to determine thermo-hydraulic performance. Correlations have been developed for heat transfer coefficient and friction factor for roughened duct.  相似文献
